So the positive end of my sony flat tops rises up a tiny bit and they make contact while stacked.

I have not blown off my face or hands yet.

I'm still not entirely sure if i need to be worried about anytting else when stacking 18650s in my persei because when I look up informations on such things I only find ecig forums and those fools use mechanical tubes. I cant imagine wanting to have a 100% unregulated amd unprotected battery circuit in your mouth but whatever.

Its Simply to put to rest this heater wire issue whos what and whats best. Simply put Titanium GR2 is the best because of it being inert and its purity.
This is in response to a "company" who claimed that Nichrome wire isn't safe because of its chromium content and that inconel wire is safer then nichrome wire because inconel wire doesn't contain Chromium.
I guess he didn't realize that that inconel wire is based on the nicrhome wire. He just wanted to spread rumors.
Yes please inhale better vapor with TI GR 2 heating wire no more chromium just for you. Now you cant deny it that our heaters are better then your inconel wire since we wont have chromium in there anymore.

Fuck being nice, "they wont lie to us" bullshit they are lying left and right.
"G" very well explained!
INCONNEL is better for HOTWIRE than NICHROME.

As far as off gassing goes thank you for educating me.

Look forward to what you create in 2014!

Off to catch a 90# DOG TOOTH TUNA!

I wonder how many people use mech mods all day every day ... I bet a lot. I've never heard of anyone having a battery go off on em or seen on the news anything about it. One time a lady reported an ego type battery blowing up while charging sending a 3 foot flame across her living room but that's the only crazy battery story I've heard so far.

Edit: isn't thcscientific coming out with a mechanical device?

So how do you feel about having a Persei loaded with two of the hottest batteries you can find when the electronics takes a dump (like has happened to so many guys with minor assembly issues on SR71?)? If it goes to a short, as some have, you get that "100% unregulated and unprotected battery circuit in your mouth" potential big time. You only to have the FUSE (spring) to protect you. Only it could be defeated because it's tightened up to ensure solid contact in the battery stack.

If there's no slack in the stack to break the circuit when the spring collapses it really doesn't matter if it does or not, the stage is set for the bomb scenario.

Without that spring there really isn't much difference between us and what those fools are using really if the electronics fail.

That's the downside. While it's no doubt true some guys can be very careful here and stay safe, others will read 'get XXX batteries and you get big clouds'.......G's stand is, I think, the only safe one. If the maker says using flat tops in his product is not safe, at the base level that kind of ends the discussion in my book. If some poor guy got hurt from misunderstood advice from here I'd feel real bad, as I'm sure most would?

You don't need to put extra pressure on the sony or efest flat top batteries to make contact ... I can have just as much slack on the spring with the sony/efest flat tops as with button top aws.

Like exit said ... they do have a short stout little button on top which easily makes contact with the bottom of the upper battery without any added pressure.

Does anyone else have awful luck with the 5.0 kiss carts? Even feathering the button, this is my second 5.0 to go out. This last more quickly than the first one.
Are the Ti Kiss carts going to be a bit more durable? I love the kiss cart, but the lifespan seems to be short. Especially the 5.0, it just goes through that element wire like nobody's business.
Just a bit frustrating, I just started traveling again, and the cart just went out the first morning. Maybe got a total of 7 dabs out of it.
I should've got the 2.0, I had way better lifespan on those.

No doubt, the 2.4 carts are easier. But because the starter kit comes with 2 5.0's, I've been running both those on a double top. No problems so far, or with the 2 kiss carts I have. The 5 ohm kiss heats up incredibly fast.

Just a question, do you let the cart cool between hits? Because the heat can be cumulative over a session. Pushing the cart too hard isn't that difficult. Sorry to hear of your issues.

Finally got to trying out my 2.0 ohm KISS cart. I have a little Jillybean shatter (my absolute favorite for taste) and decided to throw a small dab in the KISS and judge for taste. The result: pretty damn amazing in the taste and simplicity department! Question though. Is everyone's cermaic wick on a slight angle? Both of mine are and just wanted to make sure it's normal.

I second what caligula stated, also, when picking at the remains under the coil, the ceramic cup sometimes spins a bit side to side in its housing. No damage to the coil though and I've been on the same 2 ohm kiss cart for over a month and some. If anything, the play helps keep the coils pos and neg leads from ripping out

One more question for people about their KISS cart experience. Do you recommend pressing the button quickly once or twice upon loading to melt the shatter into the ceramic, or do you recommend just dropping the shatter on top and hitting it from a cold start?

i dont melt it before hand unless its frozen and wont stick to shit. If thats the case I use finger heat then press it against the coils.

For reference regarding the discussion on stacking flat tops:
IMG_20131228_162220_zps6bf83176.jpg

Panasonic, Sony and efest flat top batteries. The short stubby button on top protrudes just enough to make perfect contact with the upper battery when stacked. I know there are some flat tops that are specifically for building battery packs etc that wont work but it seems to me that these specific models have been designed with stacking in mind.

The next set of batteries I am going to test are the panasonic ncr18650pf ... 2900mah 10a discharge imr hybrids.

I dont suggest using batteries other than aws or the persei batteries unless you're confident you know what you're doing.

with stacking flat tops my only concern is if you need to compress the spring more then lets say the nipple tops then its not worth it. But if you use the same compressed height for flat tops as you do with nipples without jeopardizing the springs safety feature then its all good.

glad we got that cleared up :wave::rockon::rockon::tup::tup::clap::clap:

here i go to load up the herc with thesonys again......

I have to tell you guys the herc runs HOT with these batteries.
Only about 5 minutes of puffing before the chamber itself is very hot! In a good way of coruse

All of the news stories I've seen about them are ego-type batteries either being charged with the wrong chargers or being charged while left in a hot car. Mechs are IMO only really used by serious vapers, people that are usually also into wrapping their own dual coils. The more real battery issue is that you can really deep discharge batteries. As of course loose batteries without caps.

Anyways on topic I got some really runny co2 and I'm gonna pick up a cart and 510-601 adapter. 2.4 cart for my Ultra right? And weigh before loading, reload at .2, I know :) tia

idk what that battery you're using is but if you acn use an actual 18650 batt do it. a good one will provide so much more power than a lil ego will and itll be not as good. w9 stuff especially benefits from being able to draw a lot of amps :)

if your battery already uses 18650s then just as i'm sure you know just use some nice ones. why not fill up the chamber of a kiss with co2 and smoke it dry? dont put anything TOO runny in the omi carts

btw arent those omi v2s still on sale
