I received my Ascent today,,sent back my original one a couple of weeks ago. I didnt have as many of the problems others had, like the wires and severe off gassing. It did have some visual defects and I wanted to have the improved one. DaVinci gladly exchanged with no problems. Mine didnt come with the sombrero either. OF mentioned the lil glass flower screens so I had purchased some of those earlier and had on hand.

Opening up the ascent looked flawless and came totally charged. I put on 430 and did a 40 min burn off..holding it so it stayed on..I didnt see any burn off coming off of it, even going into a dark room with a flash light..but did a iso clean and another burn off..all smelled and looked ok so i added 2 glass flowers and ground up bud with a glass flower on top.. set at 402f.. and omg..i got quite the nice taste and vapor and medicated... much much better than my first ascent. The glass staws seem to fit smugger than my last one.. I'm impressed so far!!

just got home from work and as i said my wife left my new Ascent charging for me. i turned it on and am doing my first burnoff. 8 or so minutes in at 430 degrees and no off gassing seen in a dark room with a flashlight. this is how i saw it on my last unit. so... so far so good there. their is a slight smell but nothing like my last one. i am going to do an iso wipedown and then another 1 or 2 burn ins before i take it for a test drive with some flowers.i do not have the glass flowers or a sombrero but do have a glass marble i may try or some cotton to try a smaller bowl. i did order the glass flowers but not early enough to have for this testing.

will report back in later when more is known.

So tested for off gassing again and it's back. Had it running for about an hour and a half on and off and its still there. So is the smell. Do not know how I missed it last night after the first burn off. Could have sworn I didn't taste anything other than bud though I won't do a comparison taste test now. I'll try again later to be sure but this unit is going to be sent back for a refund this time I think. It's really too bad as I had high hopes this time around. I'm glad others are having a different experience than I and that theirs are working as they should.

Mine did not exhibit the mystery vapor and I have one of the very early ones.

There was a giant "AH HA!" moment when I decided to run another test with the oil can (plus silicone lid) and saw the issue clear as day. It matched video others posted. In comparison, it is really hard to tell from those photos but, if I can see correctly what it is you are seeing (it might not capture well?), that looks really faint in constrast. It's that one little wisp right? Are you sure there isn't residue from last night in there?

I don't think there has been a single mention in this thread of actual use of glass flowers that the report wasn't positive. Read back a few pages.

You can use the stepped vaping feature to set it for three 10 minute sessions at 430

I swear....I returned my first unit for cosmetic reasons.

My replacement unit arrived today and I waited with anticipation as it fully charged itself.....and when I went to turn it on after full charge indicator came on..........nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

DOA....now how the fuck do they send out a unit that supposedly went thru in house QC to make sure everything was up to snuff?????.

I don't usually get ticked off....but @Davinci_vaporizer this just did it.

I am positive there is no residue from me anyways. Iso multiple times and brand new glass in the pathway. It is a constant stream not wispy in the pic. It's hard to capture. Also smells of burnt silicone or plastic, not bud or resin.

Continuing to burn off the stream of smoke and smell
is much reduced but that is what I thought last night. I will continue some more and hope it goes away. Either way it will be resolved.

Just got mine and charged it up. Like night and day from the old version. Much better seal, and it actually turns on now! =P I also noticed some off-gassing. Did some burn ins and gas disappeared... until I put in the oil jar. It's the lid on the jars creating the gas, at least for me. I'm using the jars sans lid to hold the load in place and its working great (also putting one of the provided screens on the bottom under the load, I tend to almost powder my herb using the Volcano grinder. If you haven't used one yet, best grinder I've ever owned in terms of using the ground herb in a vape, and I've owned $100+ grinders). Planning on putting the jar lids in the oven at 430-450 for maybe 30min to an hour tomorrow, see if that takes care of the gassing. Only used it once, but it compares to my Solo, if not better. About to try another load and see how it goes.

One complaint, though. There's a short somewhere in my charging cable and I had to mess with positioning it for 10min to get it to charge without having to hold it. Manageable for now, but definitely going to contact DV soon and get a replacement charger.

All I gotta say is, they better not ask me to ship back the busted charger on MY dime, especially after all the rigamarole we've all had to go through.

Edit: Also have to mention, much better device than original DaVinci. I had to go through 3 of them until I got one to work consistently, and even then, had to pack 2x as much as in my Solo to get the same effect.

That will be my exact setup as well. Except I'm going to shorten my stem on my adapter.

Received my replacement Ascent today as well.

Pros: the new screen is free from blemishes, the battery life appears to have been fixed--it arrived near full charge, there was occasional visible off gassing that i removed with a couple of burn sessions

Cons: when doing the thumb seal test (fyi--when cool, open the oven, use thumb to make seal underneath intake glass piece, take a hit) the seal in the upper housing is decent when using the glass straw, unfortunately there is a visible gap between the plastic inner tube and the top rubber mouth piece. thus, when using the mouthpiece without the glass pipe there is incredible air leakage coming through the buttons, into the battery housing and results in a blah electronic taste.

2nd con: I had a lower number RMA for my first stealth, the new invoice also said ascent stealth...and i receive a wood burl ascent??? Come on, DV it's transparent packaging! I knew it was the wrong one before unwrapping the bubble wrap. I guess their QC doesn't include invoice reading.

@njluvdr --- ur early pic is definitely off gassing, i had that same stream with my first stealth. i hope it burns off for you.

Worth a try, but my guess is the flowers will work better since they have more surface area and better contact with the load. I suspect those holes will not fill?

Yes, but it's very easy to do. I just dumped the load into a small tin. The flowers are much larger than the ABV and are very easy to pluck out and add to the next load. My bud's well cured, nothing sticks to anything.
