I agree spot welds are just cheap and fast, but if you get yourself some silver solder and a +30W soldering iron you could redo both connections and fix it permanently!
The problem with Silver Solder is it's extremely high melting point. The hardest form melts at 773 degrees Celsius or 1,423 degree Fahrenheit, and the softest or "easy-flo" type melts at 681 degrees Celsius or 1,257 degrees Fahrenheit. I doubt that any soldering iron can sustain those temps, which is why Silver Soldering is always done with a torch.

Member MonsterWithoutBorders attempted a repair with Silver Solder but the heat required cracked the ceramic heating element rendering it useless. Read about it <Here>.

Risky as it is, I'm sure with practice and the right technique this repair with Silver Solder could be achieved.

Budzman your cloud must be hot as hell if you leave it on 24/7
I get worried cause I find mine gets heaps hot if i leave it on for an hour.
But you've encouraged me to care less :D

Were you able to do this. I have high expertise in soldering and could not do it without cracking the ceramic heater. I would try a different solution next time. Like trying to imbed a post in the connector and attaching to that.

Ah thanks for the inside info, I guess the ceramic is pretty thin... here's hoping the EVO has a solid heater!

Monster, you beat my reply by 5 min! Great minds think alike! :D

No it is not "hot as hell". Thanks to the firmware integrated into the PC Board it just maintains the correct temp. In simpler terms, the temperature of the Cloud is thermostatically controlled (like the thermostat in your house). The Kill-A-Watt I'm using shows the Cloud is being energized about 50% of the time, i.e. it draws about 27 watts for about 30 seconds and then is "off" for about 30 seconds, and repeats this cycle endlessly as long as the WeMo keeps it active. It would only get "Hot as Hell" if the heating element was energized 100% of the time, which it is not.

To chime in with Budzman and other WeMo users, My cloud has been on and running 24 hours, most days, and has been on for 24/7 stretches, weeks at a time. I agree on the theory of repeated heating / cooling cycles having a negative effect on the internals, especially the soldered leads. I also will have to say, the temp of the Cloud externally, kind of peaks at a point, and it no longer gets hotter and hotter. Also, as several Vets here have mentioned, keeping a fan as small as a little PC case fan, to anything larger, pointed towards the Cloud makes all the difference in the world! It keeps the air moving, and the heat dissipates incredibly well! But, unless it's an issue for holding the unit, and wristbands won't solve it for you...a small fan isn't necessary at all...just a huge help! Either way, my Cloud has been on nearly 24/7 since sometime back in aug./september/october when the WeMo first got mentioned here. I wasn't the first, but one of quite a few people who decided to jump on the idea...it's been a life saver ever since! The ability to turn it on before leaving work, have it come on on a timer in the AM, or do like I do and have it on 24/7 when home, and only off while away for long periods. It's great if I have to wake up in the middle of the night because I get sick, and the Cloud is ticking away, waiting to help me!

Back on topic though. I was visiting a new friend yesterday, and I brought the Pax so I could medicate while I was there. (I only bring the Cloud to certain places, knowing that it will be safe, etc.) I'm always wishing I had the Cloud when I'm using the Pax, but it works quite well when I need it. Still, I'm so excited about the quicker heat up and removable cord on the new unit, as this will solve one little issue that usually keeps me from bringing the Cloud with me. Now, I can use it in an environment where I would usually feel unsafe about the cable being exposed, and the unit potentially getting yanked. Now, I can heat it up, and unplug when I want to pick it up for a hit, setting it back in a safe spot to keep hitting afterwards. It's going to make passing it around easier too, in those situations with groups, etc.

So, as far as this whole potential option for two colors...and having to choose! This suddenly became more difficult! hahaha, at first, it was just wait...now, I have to make a choice! I don't know what I'd do if I could afford one of the packages with glass, and had to make a decision on mouthpieces and or perc styles! What a great time to be a vaporist!

But in all seriousness I think I'll go with the black unit if given a choice between black and white. if it's down to black and another color, it would have to be green to win me over (always been my favorite color). I just love sleek black electronic products. I decided to strip my units paint a while back, after determining that it was solid enough to not die, and unlikely to need to be sent in for warranty before it expired...I regret it, because I miss the black with the silver inner shell. And, this unit gets significantly hotter IMO without the paint. So, I'll be getting a Black Cloud EVO more than likely, if given the choice.

I just checked in with the Swagger team and we are going to allow 500 and 1000 perk level folks to let us know if they want a bent neck or a straight tube w/ice pinches. We aren't going to bend the necks on any of the ones with ice pinches as the thicker tubing makes it much more difficult. Before we send out units, everyone at the 500/1000 level will get an email where they can specify the type of mouthpiece they want (but nothing custom beyond that). You guys have been awesome so this is our little way to give back to those that helped us.

Thanks for that info. Now can someone with more bent/straight experience chime in? My only experience is back in the day with combustion bongs (always straight, half the time plastic) and ice.

Is bent for Ergo only?

I'm on my second hydratube, and I would go bent...first was straight, second is bent. IMO it's just ergo, and it helps a lot in that aspect. However, I don't need or really ever use ice...so I have no draw to ice pinches let alone straightnecks.

I'd say it like this. If you find a straight neck piece to be discomforting, and don't need/want ice, go bent.

If you can crane your neck or don't mind holding the peice tipped a little, and/or you find yourself drawn to ice or put off by warmer vapor, go straight/pinches.

If your not solidly planted in one of those two camps, go with your gut for the time being, and be content knowing that GAS will kick in, and your ass will probably own one, or more additional hydratubes down the road :brow:  :D
I find it weird that I want to choose the white color just because it was unlocked by the campaign

If I weren't drawn away from white, due to it showing marks, etc, easier, and sticking out against my other stuff like a (beautiful) sore thumb, I'd let that reasoning get the best of me SD!

I am all about bent necks and white colored EVO's! My second choice would have been Brown or wood grained, because I am just goofy like that. I decided too that I am going to take the plunge on a WEMO. I have considered this before, but just didn't ever make it happen. After reading all of these latest posts it makes it seem like such a good idea, now with my wife also putting daily demands on the cloud's availability...

Anxious to hear more guys!!!

You mother effers! I now want a bent tube and a straight ice tube! I can haz all tubes? I'm excited for the vapewiki listing which has a chart showing all compatible AAA glass tubes for the popular vapes. I will buy them all and then answer questions from my girlfriend as per usual
"What's in the package, is that a present for me?" - gf
"umm..." - me

Congrats on breaking through the $100k mark Sm!

Just wanted to chime in and say while white is nice, I was hoping for an actual color. Monochrome it is!

Is that the $500 level perk with three chambers ? If so the $1000 must be freaking sweet. What a way to drive traffic at the end.
I would love to be wrong on this but it looks like it would be the $1000 perk tube. Pretty sure the early bird tube will only have one turbine with a bent neck or straight neck with ice pinches.
I''ll take the double turbine if there's an option!

I think this is the $500 option.. A comment from teamvapexhale with the vid:

You can order and save $150 at the $500 level or above and get one of these HydraTubes WITH the vaporizer

Read through the comments from VapeXhale on the link. It says you can buy this hydratube at the 500 level or above... Hence my comment the $1000 level must be crazy.

Aaaaagh! I really want to throw down the extra $150 for that kick ass tube, but I'm about to drop $150 on a new recycler! I really don't need more glass, but damnit it want that thing. Decisions and choices!! So torn...
