I looked at the Cera, and I'm sorry but the prices are ridiculous, no charger or battery included etc..

The Davinci has been excellent so much that I will certainly be picking up the Ascent for the full retail price as soon as it's released. and considering the digital technology in it I think the price is quite reasonable.

Yep, you guys got it right. The burl wood above is the new one...although its not really that bright. I have one sitting on my desk and I'll post a picture of it tomorrow.

Also, yes, I've been updating the site all day..always fun, so there will be some oddities on there..like my pictures not matching, but so it goes with live changes.

There is a pretty tight silicone fitting where the swivel closes..not 100% air tight, maybe 90%. I've never noticed any air or vapor coming from that area.

And to let you all in the loop...I'm awaiting my final packaging delivery date to come in and then I will announce the launch date. Who would have thought that a box would be my demise?

I just got an idea.... Da Vinci you could get some of those wide rubber band type bracelets things with Da Vinci Ascent printed on it. It would act as an external seal that you simply slide up or down when you need to load it and slide it back over the gap.. that would be a cheap simple fix for those suspicious of air leakage... let me know what you think

The Cera looks familiar to me? Maybe something someone might have in Their dresser drawer.
The Ascent however belongs in a scifi movie where they are vaping aliens or something.

While reported no real vapor leakage , that might be useful so it doesnt swing open by accident.

mod note: Please avoid back-to-back posts, use Edit instead. Two posts merged.

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
Being a farmer, I prefer simple matte black (dirt ya know)... and as far as packaging, I don't really care since they usually end up in the recycle and as long as it arrives safely in the mail its all that matter to 'me' ;)

Could be good packaging? I use my Pax packaging to keep extra parts and my cleaning stuff in. Your right though most of my packaging out the door until I move then I wish I had it.

No need to worry about the swivel coming open...that is not even a remote possibility. That hinge made with some pretty solid construction. Kind of clicks each time you open it further...2 clicks to be exact. Half open, full open.

While I'd love to send you all a vape in a brown paper box for time sake...well never gonna happen. I dunno, I love unwrapping a nice box, it just adds to the romance of getting something new and shiny.

Hey Davinci_vaporizer... why did you post on FaceBook about "pre-ordering" when in fact you are not taking pre-orders you are taking more "pre-registrations" that most of us here at FC have done already?? i saw it and i was about to come here to announce to everyone that you were taking pre-orders till i went to your site and still could not "add to cart".

I do love opening boxes too but the suspense is killing us :)

From a marketing perspective they need a nice box like the Davinci came in. Makes for a professional look when sitting on a store shelf.
Another nice point regarding the Ascente that nobody has mentioned is the ability to bring a used one on a commercial airline. Because it has an all glass vapour path it can be cleaned spotlessly enough to pass any inspection.
A couple years ago I contemplated bringing an Iolite with me on a flight from Toronto to Ottawa and on to Iqaluit but decided against it because TSA regs prohibit used butane appliances and also it would be harder to clean the resin out enough that it wouldn't alert drug dogs.
I would have brought an Ascente if they existed in 2010.

Do Canadians spell Ascent "Ascente?"

"Smaller than an iPhone" haven't they done comparison tests? Isn't there a picture already showing the Ascent is 2x as thick as the iPhone?

Hey everyone,

First time poster here. I've been following this thread for a little while and was wondering if anyone has heard anything definitive on whether or not the croc skin is real or faux.

The vape looks great so far!

FYI - Better photos on DaVinci site now.. Can see details much better drilling down into product details..
Nice find but they're still the bight version, DV said the real wood "wasn't as bright"
I'm thinking the real one might look more like the second one (I just turned down the contrast):

Already been discussed in thread, but it has been shown next to an iPhone and is about as thick as two (depending on model) stacked.

As the wiki is (still) down:

===Dimmensions===
* 4.47" (119.36mm) tall, 2.24" (56.85mm) across and 1.03" (26.04mm) wide.
* About equal to the DaVinci in weight

For comparison, here is iPhone5
• Height: 4.87 inches (123.8 mm)
• Width: 2.31 inches (58.6 mm)
• Depth: 0.30 inch (7.6 mm)
• Weight: 3.95 ounces (112 grams)

And the IPhone3gs:
• 115.5 mm (4.55 in) H
• 62.1 mm (2.44 in) W
• 12.3 mm (0.48 in) D
• Weight 133 g (4.7 oz)

So it is smaller than an iPhone3gs in H & W, and just about twice the depth. The 5 is narrower, so it is only smaller in height.

But all in all, about the size of 2 iPhones.
