Sorry for quality, good camera isn't around but it should give you a "view". To connect both elastics, just do some tight nodes between them!

Simply i took the elastic (the one around the top part) and put it around the mouthpiece. Then i took the second elastic to tight around the 1st one so it will "close"!

Only a few days until I depart for Amsterdam, where my FV + S2 kit is waiting for me :)

As there is a multitude of hashes in the Dam, I'm definitely going to be trying it with the FV, both pure and mixed with flowers. One trick I've learned while using pure hash in units like De Verdamper and the Volcano is putting an extra pipe screen (the normal circular ones) inside the bowl, on top of the built in screen, and then putting your hash on top of it. The idea is that if the hash melts, it will only clog the extra pipe screen, which can be easily removed and replaced.

Has anyone tried this with the FV?

I'm going to be travelling with my FV after the Amsterdam adventure, so I'm wanting to keep it as clean as possible. I will have some alcohol with me to help with the cleaning job.

Another question, about silicon tubing for connecting to glass - Someone already mentioned the 7th Floor tubing is slightly too wide to make a good seal on the mouthpiece. I have the feeling that Arizer Extreme tubing is a smaller diamater, has anyone tested this? I have access to both types of tube there...

The FV already has a dual screen, that's one of its brilliant design points. Adding a third might make it hard to reach the heat you need for hash. It will certainly shorten your battery life. I've put kief and Afghani hash in mine right on the tabbed screen and got good results without any damage to the screen at all. It's easy to remove for cleaning if it does clog. Because hashes need higher heat, you might consider using the 3.7V batteries without the S2 spacer.

Did you personally tried this? I'm curious how was this working? I've never tried yet ash only in the FV. Was a bit affraid of it, even if there are 2 screen and 1 removable.

About the FV brush : still can't find it. Is there a way to get a replacement brush? I found that brush really usefull!

FLASHVAPE any solution????

Hi All,

Long time smoker, first time vaper. Thanks to this awesome forum and thread, I've decided on the FV. Ordered and received and have to say that everything I've read here has been correct. The unit is awesome! Great build quality and I could see switching over completely to vaping!

Have a question for everyone. I think my FV may run too cool. To explain, the original method suggested or the 5 seconds on then inhale, creates a barely perceptable vapor ring upon inhalation. So like many others, I've begun my journey to befriend this awesome device. Trying to push a bit more vapor from the FV S1. Unfortunately, I believe this has also revealed a heating issue with my unit. In the beginning, I was being ultra-careful not to combust. Later on, not so much to the point of holding in the button for 20 seconds with no combustion. From what I've read, I should have combusted long before 20 seconds.

A bit more info. When I first received the unit, I put a battery in the charger. 3 hours later, light was green. Switched batteries so the other could charge. Vaping was as described above, no matter how long I held the button down or how fresh the battery was, a very wispy ring of vapor and nothing further. Same results using Original, Pak, Tweek, or LB methods.

So, I have questions and seek guidance:

1) How can I tell if my FV is generating enough heat?
2) Is there a break-in period, where the unit will work it's way up to its normal heating level?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Help a brother change this  to this ............. Thanks!

First off,welcome to the forums!
O.k.,is your herb dry? Is it ground well? Is it top shelf, maybe mids?
I'm not trying to be rude, just covering some of the basic issues new folks have.
I hope that helped, but if not someone else, someone smart wil help you out. :)

I agree with your assessment. Probably down to the grind and dryness of the herb. I never really combust and I'm hard on my button, but I don't grind too fine - keepin' it fluffy.

What they ^^^^ Said . also how much herb are you using ? I never had any luck getting good hits with Too much in the stock FV it seems to work best if you just cover the screen or less . And man 3 hours to charge these battaries seems fast to me .

Try this and see if it helps; put a nice little bud aside to dry for a while. When it gets a little crispy you're almost there! Now grind it up real fine, then grind it a little more. Moisture is your enemy, you don't want to spend battery power evaporating water!
Not trying to bust your balls man,but that's what I tell all rookies.
You coming off smoking right? It just takes a little bit to adjust. You also have an excellent Vape to learn on.
Let us know how you're liking it so far and don't hesitate to ask questions. We were all rookies once.:)

Hi ShipDit, Thanks for the welcome! Glad to be here!

Herb is not tacky or sticky. Ground using MFLB Mini-Grinder, so grind should be a bit finer. I have top, mid, and bottom gram, have tried each with pretty much same results. Please, no worries on any questions.. I'm completely a Newb and understand the only bad question is the question that remains unasked.

Wondering, if dry-fired, will either screen glow orange after enough time of holding down the steel button? I've taken out the tabbed screen (the one that's replacable) and held the button down to see if the heating screen would glow in the dark, even slightly, but nothing. Did get warm, but not hot. This was on a freshly charged battery. (I have the 3.2 version for now).

Thank you!
DDave

Kelper, thanks for chiming in. So would I get more chance of making vapor with a finer grind?

Rude Boy, thank you as well. i am going to try to put some herb aside and allow it to dry a bit. How long would you recommend? (and i figure this is subjective dependent on the starting mosture content of the herb). Edited: Missed answering some items. Quantity of herb is just enough to cover the screen, nowhere near 1/2 a bowl for sure. In regards to the batteries, how long should they charge (my light was definitely green) and if I leave them in the charger longer while the light is green, I assume this will have no effect like charging more?

ShipDit, no worries on busting on me... sometimes that's part of a good learning process. Will test with drier herbs and report in.

Thank you all!

You will get quicker clouds, but I don't like too fine of a grind because it can become like packed sawdust - highly combustible. A fluffier hand-crumble may take a little longer to get rolling, but I like the results. Never have a combustion problem.

BTW, I tried the SS-2 but prefer the lower temps of stock FV - not as much herbal waste and not as mind-numbing (more mind-blowing, less mind-numbing IMO).

DDave how was your bud after you tried vaping it did it start to turn brown . With the 3.2 FV it could take quite some time to get it down and get visable vapor . it really took me days when I got my MFLB a few years ago but i got good effects , I think the Fv might have a bigger learning curve . keep using it and you might get it quickly . wanted to add I never even saw a threat of combusting in the stock FV.

I have yet to use this model, but as with the Magic Flight (also conduction heating), a fine grind is much more important for producing good vapor.

Vitolo had a demo video but he may have removed it. I don't think he'll mind me reposting his technique.

Vitolo said:
Hold button 5 seconds, begin drawing, and release button as I draw...... shake... repeat till happy.

technique 2 for FVS2:
Hold button down for 5 seconds, begin drawingwhile button is held down, and then.....
draw until my experience through trial and error tells me things taste "hot enough" and then release button as I finish my draw.

Thanks Kelper. Once my test herbs dry out a bit, I'm going to try both hand-crumble and grinder. Will report back in a bit... my fingers are crossed!

Am wondering about my batteries now. Is there any way to test them? (I have a multimeter)

Rude Boy, I need to check as saved what I thought was vape poo in a jar. However, I recall mostly still green. (maybe due to me not vaping it completely?)

Max, thanks. Am going to experiment with various grinds and finger-crumbles. Thank you for reposting the Vitolo information!

Thank you,
DDave

Of course you can always dry quicker in the bowl if you go heavy on the button and have your spare battery re-charged and ready to go for the final cloudbursts.

The brush which comes with electric razors are much the same as original supplied brush. Bet you might have sitting in the rear corner of a bathroom draw.?

I would recommend emailing Flashvape and ask about this. I had connection issues and Flash took care of me very quick. Same symptoms as you.
There is no break in period except for the discolouration of screen from the heat.

Hope you get going again soon.

Thanks Pipes... If drying out my herbs prior to vaping doesn't seem to resolve my issue, I will take your advice and email FlashVape.. Out of curiosity, was the fix you were provided something you were instructed to perform on the unit itself? Or did you have to ship part of or the entire unit back for replacement/repair?

Thanks,
DDave

I've taken out the tabbed screen (the one that's replacable) and held the button down to see if the heating screen would glow in the dark, even slightly, but nothing. Did get warm, but not hot. This was on a freshly charged battery. (I have the 3.2 version for now).

The 3.2V batteries are 1450 mAh and the charger puts out 800 mA so the batteries should be fully charged in under two hours even if completely flat. If you have a fully charged battery then it should heat to a bright orange in the dark, in less than five seconds if I recall correctly. I was attempting to photograph this to see whether there were hot spots in the screen, but I had no success. (I have to go back and try that again now that you reminded me.)

The batteries should read about 3.65V fully charged. If they are charged properly and the problem happens with both batteries, however, it's almost certainly the FV. If you can't reach combustion and your ABV is green, it can't be heating properly.

As for the other questions/advice: the FV does like a fine grind, but because there is so much heating surface you can get away with a coarser grind than most conduction vapourizers. Inhaling too quickly is a common error that many people make with a conduction unit like this, but since you followed the FV basic method exactly (heat, stop, then inhale) I think you eliminated this as cause of your lack of vapour.

Thanks Pipes, Pakalolo, Rude Boy.

My batteries charge up to 3.61V & 3.60V, so believe close enough to your voltage as not to cause such a difference in vapor production.

Unfortunately, with the removable screen removed, mine doesn't glow orange in the dark to a press of 20 seconds.

Appreciate all your advice everyone! I will email FlashVape to see if he can help/advise...

Thanx paka, my 3.2 batteries took 5 - 6 hours maybe I had a bad charger.

It's certainly possible your charger and mine aren't the same. Look on the back of your charger and see what the output rating is. I was actually surprised mine is 800 mA, that's pretty high for a Li-ion charger. The 3.7V battery charger I got with the S2 kit has a 400 mA output and the batteries are 2250 mAh, so they take forever.

My FV came with 4 batts and an extra charger. 2 batteries were blue and 2 were silver. I've noticed significant discrepancies among them. At least one didnt seem to get the FV hot enough. Just my experience.

Can't seem to lay my hands on original batteries or charger . My S2 is 400 mA I know the old one was a lot less , but Can't remember off hand . 800mA even seems high even for the 3.7V , but i know batteries Have changed beyond my limited Knowledge of the subject. I.ve read through the info and links on FC searching batts + chargers , so much of the info just goes over my head these days.
