Hey Ed, and do you fare the Nano compared to the WW?

The two are similar in vapor production. The internals are almost the same. The Nano's air pathway is larger than the WW but the principle is the same. Both are my favorites at the moment. I use the WW with water and the Nano without. The Nano heats up so much quicker the the WW. Both produce really nice clouds. They are about the same height, the Nano has a larger diameter than the WW. Both are great vapes and each has its place.

How big the the glass stem compared to the Solo stem? Both approx. .1g? And i'm guessing not, but can the Solo stems be used with the Enano?

The solo stems are too large for the nano.
How much too large? Just curious ... are the e-Nano stems closer in size to that of a CRZ or a Solo? (comparison of with/depth/volume would be useful for a lot of vapes ... I envision a chart :))

I would say the solo stems are significantly larger than the nano. The CRZ stems are close to the size of the nano but are will not work, they are slightly larger than the ID of the nano but not large enough to slide over the heat port of the nano.

Ed's TnT,
The Solo stems wouldn't work without some silicone. The bowl is too close to the top of the stem and subsequently the E-Nano's heater.

I'm confused now. Do we want the material closer to the heater screen or further away? When I pack .1, it almost touches the heater screen.

FYI - I have never had an issue with material touching the heater screen. I don't think it is highly recommended but I don't think it is an issue either - especially if the Nano is being held upside down. Any material that gets in there can be shaken out. The only time I combusted was when I loaded too much and I frequently have material touching the heater screen with some of my roasting tubes.

I agree!

Ed's TnT,
I was referring to the use of a Solo stem in the E-Nano. I also have not had any material touch the screen, even when I load up twice as much in a bowl.

Has anyone had problems accidentally changing temp? The dial turns quite easily and I keep finding it turned up/down from incidental movement when I pick up or set down the dial. And once so far it turned up enough that I accidentally combusted.

This has been one of my only complaints about the vape from the beginning. Why place the potentiometer in such an awkward spot on the cord when it could be placed somewhere else so easily (it's just the 2 wires in, 2 wires out)? A user could cut and splice it somewhere else with an extension cord in 5 minutes. I originally did not want to void any warranty, so I asked Andy if he could do this simple change. He indicated that this type of “customization” was not possible by him. Maybe the pot and the cord come as an assembly and that's where the factory in China puts it? It's a very inexpensive off-the-shelf switch, so if that’s the case I'm sure customization is not an option unless a guy wants to order 1000+. And I understand that not all vape manufacturers are going to be “one stop shops” and be able to do all modifications in-house…

And since it’s only one Nano unit and I plan on buying more, I voided the warranty and opened it up…

I’m a little curious about the ceramic cartridge. The price of these units is relatively inexpensive, but so are the basic ingredients: a simple cartridge heater (with no thermocouple/sensor/controller), a lamp and inline potentiometer to adjust power down from max (about 5V down from line voltage). So what kind of cartridge are we dealing with? A quality custom fab piece or something like this?

Diameter_6mm_ceramic_cartridge_heater_with_ceramic.summ.jpg

There is no branding on the Nano cartridge, similar to the one in the picture above: no series stamp, no manufacturer name, not even any electrical spec markings (ie, 120v 80w, etc). For those that don’t know what a cartridge heater looks like, the Nano’s looks very similar to the pic above too. Can you give us a little more information on the cartridge Andy?
· Custom designed all ceramic heating element = 100% Rohs compliant.

Did you put all the Nano budget into the cartridge? What is the ratio of unit cost to cartridge cost alone? IMHO its a fantastic idea and a positive step in the right direction. As others have noted, this vape combines the best of two worlds: the cartridge heater’s almost unlimited heat range and the efficiency of a log vape port/stem system.

I won’t post pics of the internals, I’ll let Andy handle that if he want to. No real safety issues from me after completely removing the bottom, cartridge, etc. The heat port seems 100% isolated the way the cartridge is placed and set in the base.

Of course whenever I see a ceramic heating element I always think back to my 7th Floor days and when I discovered 2clickers fantastic thread that changed my vape path forever.

Now it’s available in an efficient and beautiful log vape style!

Why place the potentiometer in such an awkward spot on the cord when it could be placed somewhere else so easily
Where it's located and whether that's convenient or not, is purely dependent on where that particular vape sits, and the personal preference of the user. For some placements it would be awkward and for others it's going to suit the user just fine. Personally, I'd like mine to be located a couple of inches closer to the AC plug, but if my table were 2 inches shorter, it would be perfect. If I were someone else, I might want it to be close to the unit and have it sitting on the table. To imply that it's in a bad location for everyone is just incorrect. No matter where the control is, some are going to be fine with it and others will want it someplace else.

You are correct Max, awkward is my opinion. At its current placement for me, it pulls the nano off the table or at least close to it. Even a nudge gives it the momentum to fall. But there may be someone who likes it exactly where it is placed.
But from your post, you also prefer at least an option as to its placement on the cord? Bottom of the vape like the EV2 would also work but would then increase the size of the nano.

However, I'm much more interested in the cartridge than moving the potentiometer at this point.
There are several full SS versions on the market that look like they would work. Why introduce the ceramics? I have no issues with ceramic and think its a great inert material for vapes. Just curious.

Andy, is it at all possible to make a stem for the Nano that works similar to the EV-2 with the basket and cap? I was talking to my buddy last night and he's had a couple combustion experiences because a bit of flower fell on the heater screen and burnt. I've had this happen once, but only when using higher temps for concentrates. Up to 6.5 I don't think there is any risk of combustion unless you overpack the stem or your herb is really dry.

Well, I just want to come in here and say I'm still loving my E-Nano. What a work horse. I would say that it gets me really really ripped. I love using it, it's fast heat up time is amazing, and I love the wood quality.

I almost wish I could get one in every wood (not practical for me, LOL). I'm a bit jealous of that Purple looking wood though. That thing looks seriously awesome. I wish I had known, however, those custom orders may take a while (I absolutely have no idea).

I'm waiting on a new all glass screen from Andy so I have a backup. I already chipped the honeycomb screen as I mentioned ad nauseum already. But it was completely my fault.

I can't wait to see the stems Ed puts out. Those will be amazing as well! :-).

Anyhow, just saying that the E-Nano is still really awesome, and I love it. I would recommend it to any of my friends for sure.

Edit: Oh and I wish the temp knob was on the E-Nano itself somehow. It does hang off my table, and I fear I may have a problem with the cord in the future, so I am really mindful of it now. But it's not a problem.

does this thing have a ceramic element like the SSV or a resistor like most log vapes?

That means a resistor, just like all logs... ;)
The Nano is a ceramic cartridge heater, nothing like the HI or UD (or CRZ, that was a ceramic disk around the port).
The ceramic cartridge heater is then wrapped in a SS log port.

And since it’s only one Nano unit and I plan on buying more, I voided the warranty and opened it up…

Similar, which is exactly why I asked Andy to give us a little more info on it, just curious about:
  • overall safety
  • what type of ceramics are we talking about? There is no branding on the Nano cartridge.
  • why he went with ceramic and not a SS cartridge like below?

What's everyone's verdict on these? With the glass stems and temperature they seem to be a step up from other log vapes.
