The owner at Kind Connection was very nice. He was going to hold off on an initial P.O.

We are now at the following RI shops:

It's all Good
Phunky Stuff
Herbal Healing

Please make sure to call to ensure they have a unit in stock before you head down. It's all Good should have the unit tomorrow or thursday.

The other two have units.

Thanks.

I am updating the dealer page on my website.

Steele, have you ever considered, or tried making a prototype, of a fully stainless steel water pipe, without the polycarb? I love clear glass to see the vapor build up, but I feel like a 100% stainless steel tube would feel even more tank-like and powerful.

If only their was a translucent, non-reactive indestructible metal O_O

I was reading about some hybrid metal glass that sounded brilliant. Unfortunately I don't think that it was translucent. It's in the testing stages and super expensive. I would love to utilize this material if it comes to be.

My initial design was a solid steel water pipe with polycarbonate slot to see vapor build up. My best option seemed to be to utilize the polycarb as the tube and steel as the base. This make the unit more sturdy and prevents tipping. It keeps the center of gravity really low and allows one to see the vapor.

The polycarb you can run over with a car. It is extremely strong. I did it with a smaller tube I first got when I was prototyping. I got the idea from when I was younger and used to watch robot wars. Some of the robots used Lexan and it worked pretty damn well against the robots flamethrows, hammers, saws etc.

My FDA approved waterproof sealant (used in medical devices) has a tensile strength of ~3,000 PSI. In laymans terms, this unit is a tank.

"Please keep in mind I don't ship to New England states where my dealers are"

Wait a second. So I would pay more at Phunky Stuff than if I ordered directly, but you won't ship me one? And then you suggest I drop your name for a possible discount? Not to mention the tax I'd have to pay here. Oh, and I would not get your FC discount.

You may want to rethink that strategy...

I had to think for a while about what is typed below. This pricing/dealer/distribution stuff is literally half the battle in this business. I have consulted with numerous individuals that have been in the business for years regarding this stuff. Please excuse me 'cause i'm new :)

Disregard what I said in the previous post, I'll ship direct to you if you PM me. As I told my dealers I WILL NOT sell to New England online through my website as this cannabalizes sales.

This is a tight knit members only community and is NOT my website.

However, please keep in mind this thread is now the second hit in google for "Steele Concept" If people are signing up here just to get the discount, I will not send units to New England for $299.99. This is not fair to my New England dealers, because that would be an individual who is not a friend, family, existing FC member.

It took me a long time to think of this, because this is the fairest way I can think of with respect to FC members and dealers alike.

Thanks.

So I filled the base with glass diffusion stones and use a 45 deg 14-18 mm adapter and the cloud upside down. It stack amazing, is icy cold, and holds the cloud without tipping much. I'd prefer a 90 deg adapter but can't find one yet. This piece is just made for the cloud!! I can't thank you enough Steve. Now I'm gonna paint it candy apple red metal flake with clearcoat. I'll try to post when it's done. You should sell a lot after the ad in High Times hits the stands. I adore mine!

Thanks for the kind words Ontario. I am glad you enjoy your unit. I'm pretty sure you are the only guy in Canada with this water pipe :)

Some updates:

I have traveled all over New England this past week establishing my dealer network. There are now 16 Steele Concept dealers, which is close to my goal of 20, with a maximum of 25 that I would like representing my product.

Reception has been great and I am in talks with distributers to see about the possibility of nation wide distribution in the very near future...

I updated the dealer list on my website to reflect new dealers AND created an instruction manual dubbed the "flight manual."

Suggestions from end users, retailers and feedback from this forum have been utilized to create the instruction set. It is my hope that this will reduce ambiguity concerning the Steele Concept.

Thanks again for your support FC.

UPDATE:

I'm currently sold out. I just picked up 50 more units and will have them fully assembled and ready to go by Friday. Machining is done by my machinist and his family/friends, assembly is done by me and my family/friends.

Local love

Check out the flight manual under the Info tab on my website. It will teach you exactly how to use the unit and address FAQs. Plus it has some pretty pictures.

Peace

Nice seeing the back and forth going on and the growth, what started as just a nugget of an idea. Bravo, for pulling it off and for what looks to my eyes, to be what you claim it is.

Too bad no one made this back in the 80s. Glass was way expensive, thin and broke a LOT. The old multi-colored plexibongs seem neanderthal and I cringe looking at them now. This would have been big back then. Though, I suspect the tubing would have been hard to get hold of. Plus, this would still be chugging along, all these years later.

Thanks for the kind words BigDaddyVapor.

Unfortunately, I was just a twinkle in my fathers eye until 1987. I suspect without the newer technology, accessible computerized lathes/mill, internet, polycarb tube... glycerin cubes and GonG advances, this product would probably be impossible in the 80's. I'm sure there could have been a rough version but probably not what it is today... Especially from a single dude on a college kid budget.

You can still rock an acid washed jacket and throw on some Duran Duran for nostalgia man, hehehe.

Regarding claims, it's easy to hype something up and generate excitement but if you do that you better damn well be responsible that the product follows through.

I've always cringed when I've seen the multi-colored plexi stuff. Gahhh I hated when friends would have them and you don't wanna be the pompous ass that doesn't utilize them, so you end up coughing up a lung and feeling dirty lol.

Not me. I'm a @#$%ing snob, some would say an asshole. :D

When I hang over at my buddy's house, its a diverse crowd, that I'm about 18-20 years older than. They have a big ol' RooR beaker and they're combusting away. I bring my box and a piece of glass with me (not the good stuff, but I'm considering going and thumping them with the BDV). The guys that know me, get a BIG grin on their face, when I walk in. They know they're going to be vaked, very soon. The ones I don't know, I get to experience the "WTF just hit me in the head" look, all over again.

Hell yeah BigDaddyVapor! I find no problem with combustion I just feel a regular user should check out vaporization as it's much healthier.

You teach them youngins! Sounds like if they don't know, well they are about to lol.

That's why I was adamant about creating a piece that can be used for both vaporization and combustion. Looks like you got quite the collection, but the average joe schmoe, one piece that can be used for both vapor/smoke = $$$ saved.

In my circle of friends we have some elders that come through and school us on what's what occasionally hehe. It's great to have a diverse friend group.

Very nice! Where in ct are you located? I'm in Naugatuck.

Hey rsqemt911,

Was wondering if you checked out the piece?

Also, I completely revamped the website. It should better reflect the product now. It's squeaky clean and optimized for mobile devises.

Thanks guys!

No worries rsqemt911, people get busy. I've been quite busy myself lately nerding with web design, ecommerce, distribution talk etc. etc.

I wanna make sure everything is good to go when the product debuts nationally.

Take 'er easy all.

Level 30 Nature/Healer
Nice website update, I have finally read through the few pages built up here and at first I was a bit skeptical (last month being at first), but now I feel this has a lot of potential. I feel the piece would look better with a 90 degree stem option versus the current 45 degree. Or maybe making it formed somewhat like a beaker bottom for the steel base.

Price is understandable, but would it ever be possible to create a latching system where one could swap or even push down the polycarb tube into the steel base for more of a transit option or (bear with me now) different tube types. When I say different tube types I mean ones that could have percs or other methods of diffusion. There are many options that would expand from that concept.
But I also am unaware of how expensive (quite I'm assuming) polycarb is.

Just some ideas, as I would like to see this product be the best it can. But so far I am liking where you are going with it. My ideas don't end there but just some I feel you should know. Maybe I just get a pen and paper and start drawing.
