Discontinued ThermoVape

Great Scott!
I don't plan on breaking mine either. I'm usually pretty good with glass, but IF it breaks its good to know theres the top I'm currently using sitting at home.

I'm afraid that since the PVHES stems came out, my Solo has been getting most of my attention. I think the glass adapter for the T1 will change that equation once I get one.

Something tells me that unless Thermovape delivers a solution to keep that switch at its ON postition, the Solo will continue to get your attention Jam. That's a major drawback for convenience when using it at home, isn't it?

On the other hand I convinced my bro to get a TV1 to replace his Lotus. So I 'm gonna give it a go as well at last! :D He sent a mail today asking for a possible reduction of the shipping costs... 50$ to ship to Europe is just insane! I know about the 25% but we were hopping for lower shipping cost in order to afford it. Anyway, we shall see! :p

Though it can be seen as a minor inconvenience to hold the switch ON, esp w/ glass, I find it an important part of the interaction with the device. Feeling how warm it gets is part of how I judge when it's ready to hit, and then I can control how long it stays activated, pulsing the switch etc... but I see your point too, there is something about plug and play that is nice too, set it and forget it has its place in my routine as well.

I hear ya. It's just as bad the other way. I've bought stuff from the UK where shipping was more than the cost (ten pounds for a nine pound item). More over, I ordered 3 to try to get the cost down, so they sent me 3 packages at ten pounds each.....

I'm pretty sure TV made a search for the best shipping, but I'm also sure if you can find a shipper who will do it for less, tell them you want it that way instead. We've seen this happen several times with at least 3 makers (PD, TV, and MFLB), they don't make money on shipping and don't 'have a dog in the fight'. They have a suggested shipper, but I'm sure would be responsive to a specific request from you.

Insane or not, it's a real cost. They all charge about the same. If Fed Ex could do it for less than UPS or DHL they surely would. But they can't, what with all the extras involved. Capitalism does that, finds the best way to meet the market's demands (lower cost always being on that list).

Good luck. IMO no matter how long you have to wait for it to clear various traps and how much it costs (within reason, of course) you'll love it when you get your hands on it. We're not making all this up you know.....

Still gets warm to hot after a couple sessions in a roll.
The Pipes unit has a small area made of plastic, and if does get too hot, you can always push on it.
Never really had to though.

LOVE my Pipes complete power unit. And LOVE the price I paid for it even better now that I have seen TV's price.... :uhh:

I'll go out on a limb and say the pricing is absolutely ridiculous. If I didn't have a $150 contest prize to spend from TV I would definitely be getting the Pipes adapter.

I found shipping costs vary soooo much from not only country to country but even city to city. I can ship to New York cheaper then from Toronto to Hamilton which is like an hours drive. Or have you ever ordered from China and paid attention to what they pay? Next to nothing. Is seems the more dense the population the cheaper to ship. Canada with it's land to people ratio is away too high. What' really gets me is I have now ordered a few items from the Bulli outfit in Germany and always $9.99 for their smaller items. No logic in shipping costs it seems.
The price drops dramatically if no tracking and I see no difference in delivery speed. So if this type of shipping option was available, it would be nice. At least for smaller dollar items. Of course the insurance would also be waived for the buyer.
Just my 2 cents.

Opps, double posting....me bad.

I agree.. I was pretty stunned when I saw the price.. No comment....

Yes the price hurt a bit, but I ended up paying it anyway. If it delivers as well as I'd imagine then I guess it is worth it. If anything I'm just upset at the lack of 18mm glass on glass bong adapters haha. That and the power supply are made for each other.

Any specifications published on the power supply.
Rated voltage, amperage and if it is regulated?

I have one heading my way, so if the data doesn't get posted sooner, I'll let you know Pipes...

I would probably have skipped getting the AC adapter right away if I had not won the 2nd place photo prize to use towards getting one. Def. a bit higher than I was expecting to see, but I'm not going to knock'em for it.

Cool, I have a Cree 16oo Lum coming my way from ebay. Single 18650 battery. $15 bucks, speaking about $15....
Also....
.
.
Looky what I found. Took alot of digging. A power supply 6 volt 7 amp (yep 7) regulated DC with the needed connector. Best of all, under $15 shipped. Un-frickin believable!!!
Kinda shooting myself in the foot. But hey, never out to make alot of money anyway. And can choice the supply cord of your country so good for our over seas friends too.
Just need the adapter to hook it up to your TV........hmmmm

Not tested in the field but my specs look good

Cheers you all,
Pipes......

I'm not sure you've got it fully understood based on the first question. To vape right the temperature is always the same, about 400 F where the action is. Less and no joy, a little more and fire (combustion) happens. Evolution starts with much higher temperatures in the core heating air. You control how much of that hot air is transferred. This means the temperature at the herb is the same or it's not vaping. The major difference is in timing. SV generates heat in the core faster. Time is the major difference you notice in A/B testing SV against LV.

Not only is the 14650 half a Volt or more less under load (a very significant drop, far bigger than the 'fresh off the charger' to 'drained, needing to recharge' shift) but they're also too long to fit. Bad idea, IMO.

OF
I am sure you know that a device like the Solo has variable temp(between a the low point for vapor and the point right before the material burns), and I am sure the guy was asking if maybe the LV is at the point where vape starts and the SV is at the temp right before the material burns or vice-versa.

Yes, I understand the concepts (at least I think I do), I'm just not sure the OP does. I think he's using 'solo logic' on the Evolution? Here, the user controls the herb temperature, not the device. Until you draw air, the herb is cold, the more you draw, the more heat transfers. It really has very little to do with much else.

For now I'll stick with "The major difference is in timing. SV generates heat in the core faster. Time is the major difference you notice in A/B testing SV against LV." If you ignore time, blindfolded, you'd be hard pressed to tell one from the other.

Thanks.

Thought I would just make a couple of comments about our manufacturing process. We understand that the price of the AC Power Supply may have been higher then expected, so we thought a description of what goes into making the ThermoVape Power Supply would help.

It should be noted that the ThermoVape AC Power Supply is an extension of our modular platform. Not only in that the Power Supply works with all of our interfaces and Standard 6V Vaporizers but also in that we will continue to offer options to expand the functionality.

For example, we are working on sourcing a reliable 12V DC Adapter for use from a vehicle, as well as a Low Voltage Adapter for 3.7-4.2V vaporization. The ThermoVape Power Supply can and will be expanded upon as we find new, reliable power adapters. The best part is that all you will need to purchase in the future to expand the functionality of your ThermoVape Power Supply is an inexpensive adapter. The ThermoVape Power Supply is a buy it once, and you are good forever kind of a deal.

With that said here is what goes into each ThermoVape Power Supply:

Raw Materials. We start with the same Cold Finished T6 6061 Aluminum, US sourced from Alcoa used in our ThermoVape Vaporizers. This is not your average aluminum; our raw bars start with a 1/1000 of an inch variation across the length of the 12 foot bar. As good as it get. We also use FDA approved High Temperature US Sourced Delrin as a thermal insulator.

All components of the ThermoVape Power Supply are Made in the USA. We sourced Butt-connector, ring terminal, and plug assembly from US companies in Menlo Park, CA and Chicago. All other components we manufacture in house.

The AC wall plug/adapter is made in China. If anyone can find a US company still manufacturing these types of simple wall plug/transformers please forward us their information.

We precision machine the Aluminum Main Body, Inner Sleeve, and contact. These parts undergo an initial QCC for size and dimension. We then hand debur each part, the contact piece is also tumbled. The main body is then sent out for laser etching. After deburing, tumbling, and etching these parts are then Electrolessly Nickel Plated. The Nickel ion fills and selas the pores of the aluminum, increasing hardness, conductivity, and corrosion resistance. The Delrin Internal Insulator is also precision machined, hand debured, and cleaned.

We then begin the process of hand assembly. We have no automated processes. Every part is inspected as it goes through the assembly process, and undergoes individual testing for function and form. All connections are both soldered, and also reinforced with a redundant mechanical connection for maximum durability. All precision ‘press fits’ are achieved with small a Arbor hand press for precise, durable and adhesive/bonding agent/chemical free assembly. Once all of the connections are made, and the components assembled, we begin our final testing process. All of this happens under one roof, often the same person performing each step of the process. Nothing is outsourced. The final Power Supply Perfectly matches all ThermoVape Vaporizers in terms of quality, fit and finish.

Once the ThermoVape Power Supply Passes our extreme failure test only then is it ready to ship to a customer.

The money you spend on the ThermoVape Power Supply goes first to the cost of the highest quality materials and components available, and then to the cost of machining and finishing processes. Finally to the labor for assembly to pay the hard-working vapor loving ThermoVape employee who painstakingly assembles each Power Supply.

Sometimes after all that there may be a couple bucks left over to keep the lights on and the internet working. The old adage is true in our experience, 'You Get What You Pay For' and with the ThermoVape Power supply you get the highest quality American sourced materials and state of the art precision machining and craftsmanship. The result is a versatile, durable product that we are confident you can enjoy for years and years to come, so confident it has a lifetime warranty.

Hope that was helpful.

Cheers,

ThermoVape

In the interest of modularity and so that different power supplies can be used with the device, hopefully TV can offer just the body and switch assembly separate from the power supply for a lesser price. For example, this new switch can be used with both the Pipes power supply (for those who already have that) as well as with the 6v power supply Pipes linked to just a few posts back, so hopefully TV can help in accommodating people who already went that route, or would like to.

Thank you for running through the creation process in words, a video of your factory processes and how the TV is made would be very cool to see on your YT channel.

Talking of pictures and videos how does one go about entering the competition and where do we see the winners/find out if we have won?

Keep up the good trustworthy work, how long will it be till the DC version comes out ?
