Arizer Solo

Different pieces give a different feel when paired with the solo.

I tried it through my DG mini, and I didn't like the restriction.
I tried it with a TORO Microverter, and loved the pairing.

It could be that the HydraTube simply doesn't need that much flow to operate well, so the solo is up for the task.

Solo hits with my DG mini and the reg. gong stem, a bit too restricted...with the PVHES stem... golden! I might spring for a turbo stem too, if they have them for the release.

I'm really looking forward to the PVHES GonG stems. It might give me a reason to take my HT out of the house once in awhile for some hydrotubing on the go.

I whole heartily disagree with this statement. People are curing cancer and other incurable diseases with raw and cured cannabis.
not to mention we as human beings have THC receptors built into our bodies? Why would that be if we were never meant to ingest it?

EDIT: jam beat me too it lol

No matter how no-drag a glass piece is, the total effort required from your lungs wouldn't change as the bottleneck is the Solo itself... If combined with a PV or Ed stem then it sounds ok. :2c:

Your right! the solo is the Only bottleneck when I use the solo with the ht, which is why I can finally get water conditioned vapes from my solo. I only have he original 2 holes stems. If there is any additional drag at all from a water pipe then it becomes uncomfortable for me to draw with enough force to get a satisfying pull. Like I said, I can use the solo and my mini beaker but only if I take out the downstem - it essentially ends up with the same volume as the sgw ht. whereas, if I put the downstem in the drag becomes too much and I don't get satisfying pulls.

It's only in the last couple of weeks that I have been using the solo with any regularity so I haven't been keeping up with this thread at all - it moves faster than me! So I never realized how much of a difference stems can make. I think I'll researching stem technology for a while. Is there a chart or something similar that compares all the features and pros and cons of all the different types of stems available?

I am sure that PVHE GonG stem will do a superb job with glass.
I am under the impression though that all these new stems while making the experience a lot better, they also lower the temps that the Solo is capable of. I thought about this when I had first modded one of my regular stems by heating and bending the lips of the bowl. The Solo then produced fluffier, less dense clouds, the hits were easier due to the better airflow, the ABV was lighter colored, a session was taking more time and the buzz took a little longer to arrive... In my book this is worst extraction than before. Of course the design of these stems is better than a simple heating-bending but again, more airflow doesn't equal lower temps?
I have already back ordered a nice Bog Oak stem from Ed and I am sure gonna get those PVHE GonG stems one day, but I keep thinking that because the Solo can't hold that heat very well, the new stems could actually make it work cooler...
What you think guys? PV? Ed?

I had that concern at first as well (too much airflow = cooler temps, poorer extraction), but with the PVHES I have been pleasantly surprised. The little Solo heater must be more robust than I had initially thought and the vapor density is only minimally effected, while airflow is greatly improved IME.

So far as I can gather from other peoples reports, it seems some increased airflow is fine, but too much will cool it too much.

Ed's stems and the PVHES seem to be in the range where temps aren't affected dramatically.

I'm just waiting on the GonG PVHES to come out, and I've got one of Ed's stems on the way :)

Frederick McGuire,
Do you want your kids or yourself inside a mall with let's say 500 or a full mall or office or restaurant full of people vaporizing their ecigs and vapes because it's JUST VAPOR, NOT SMOKE, THERE AREN'T ANY CANCERIGENOUS OR MUTANT (nicotines, tars, synthetics, additives and ADICTIVES, and so on, MOLECULES IN THERE FLYING AROUND FROM YOUR VAPE :) ?????
Because if you can do it, why not the rest of the people, don't forget the ecig and vapor community is huge, not only FC forum members know about it, there are millions out there.

p.s: sorry about capital letters, I'm not screaming, I just don't know how to highlight words in a cell phone during txt. Is it possible??
This stated above is IMO and not to create a fight or enemies, it's just a point of view, and yes I will never take a kid back again to a mall till laws ban e-cigs and vapes from enclosed public places like restaurants, offices and malls. Sorry to go back to this :(

My bad for being off topic but i wanted to share a study i found a while back about second hand ecig vapor.

http://www.utahvapers.com/clearstream.html

TLDR; 1) This means that the human lung absorbs most if not all of the nicotine which has long been questioned within the global electronic cigarette community; and 2) This also means no nicotine was detected in the ‘second-hand vapor’. All other substances measured for electronic cigarettes appear to be FAR below levels for human inhalation according to the FDA. In fact, the levels were so low that it proves (in my opinion) that it is more hazardous to your health to breath the air in any major downtown metropolitan city during heightened times of driving.

I found using the PVHES shorty straight stem, I am able to keep my settings pretty low 3 dry-4 wet until the bowl starts to put out less vapor, then I punch it up to 5-6 to finish it off for the last few hits. My ABV is nice and dark, and I get much bigger hits now, with much less strain. The air flow being better does not seem to cause enough cooling to make a difference, that I have experienced. I am pulling gigantic hits from my water piece at setting 4, and not having to work that hard to get it, using the PVHES stem. Bring on the GonG:clap:

Well yeah - when you get the PVHES you also get a card with a tip(should have included that in my review)

Anyway,PV recommends you to take a hit every 30 seconds...that quite a time I tell you if you really count the solo should go back to the proper temp...
I don't know about less denser clouds, I don't agree - PHVES has been providing a lot of thick clouds and for a longer time... ;)

Hmmmm well during my use with a wooden tube I have the heat setting at 5 I place the tube in to heat, once it reaches the desired temp it holds that temp well, even the other day when using it with two other people we all seemed to get cloud after cloud from it, it never dropped the setting kept right on hitting. I feel like once the SS is hot it helps hold and retain the heat. If you took it out and let it cool then place it back in that it would drop slightly. I dont feel the need to remove it, I usually hit it until it cashes or get so blistered I forgot its still hitting and it powers off on it own.

Oh I made the first Solo Dugout with a short wooden stem to fit, posted pics over at my thread, pls have a look!

Can anybody comment on the regular PVHES vs the Turbo model? Obviously the Turbo has even better airflow, so why pick up a regular PVHES when the Turbo is even better? Unless it's too unrestricted for people and it lowers the temp if you're hitting it hard?

The only reason I can think of is not everyone likes a screen (screen isn't "required" with the 2 or 4 hole config). That being said, Turbo, with a screen has a number of advantages including ease of cleaning.

PV stated when they released the PVHES stems that even though the turbo model stem has better airflow, in their testing, they found the regular PVHES stem has better performance (more vapor).

When they get more stems in (and the GonG adapters), I'll try both and offer my opinion for what it's worth ... after all, one can never have too many Solo stems!

Probably there's a limit to how much air you can get and not heavily affect the temperature downfall...

I will be going for one of the full sized turbo bowl/gong stem (been getting the shorty version so far) with the thought that the larger bowl will allow more herb which will offer more resistance to counter the hole being so open wide, and maybe that will be how to control how tight or loose the draw gets with the turbo stem. Only one way to find out for sure... soon :)

It definitely gets airier with the turbo, IME I'll just double SS screen the bottom of the stem or use the finest screen possible.
I noticed greener/orange ABV, crumbling to dust after touch. I'm wondering if green color is just clorophyl from plant or not completely vaped plant?? Any inputs??
I'm going to try my old stems without mods and check it out
