Herb Grinders

My concern was about the small scale erosion occuring by the friction of same thickness material, my approximative mastery on the english language made a mess out of most of my statements and questions. I am fully aware that a vast variety of substance consumed by an individual on a daily basis stays a hazard on a long term and that includes the consumption of our medecine. My aim was to gather feedback about a subject on witch I lack basic knowledge as to make the best choice possible. As stated above, my incomplete mastery of the language didn't reflect my purpose well:rolleyes:

Personally, I see no long term hazards to using cannabis by either vaporizing, an oral method (tinctures and edibles) or topically. It only helps me have a better quality of life by treating my pain/inflammation, nausea/vomiting, and anxiety associated with my illnesses, and more.

My statement was not about the direct consumption of cannabis, it was more about the situation encountered on a day to day basis by the average user. Incomplete knowledge by growers or lack of concern about the health issues of used fertilizants, even the mode of consumption play's it's role, it's maybe not an issues on the official scene, but here in Europe most of the cannabis scene is still underground and not everyone has a conscience. You'll find so much bad stuff, here grit weed is a fact, and most of the people are not aware of what they smoke, some people saw the light and took matters in their own hand. I think I should be aware not to project my personal situation on others

While I am a massive fan of acrylic sharktooth grinders for on the go, one of the best cannabis related investments I've made has been to buy an electric coffee grinder. They are really not expensive (I got one delivered for £13) and they really fluff out your herb and I definitely get more out of mine when I use the coffee grinder. It's not portable but if you pre-grind and leave it in a tin it works perfectly.
It might not be what your looking for at the moment but I reckon its really worth having one for in house use.

Yeah, but don't you find that the 'turbulence" knocks off all the trichomes? I know it's easy to gather, but the bud is kinda "weak" that way unless you add back the crystals i suppose. It's just such a violent way to grind, although I know it does expose more surface area forsure, and is nice and even.

My coffee grinder does knock off a lot of crystals, if you put in only small amounts of bud you lose a significantly smaller % but putting in a couple of grams accumulates a lot of skuff, not enough for me to describe the bud as weak but a fair bit. My friends coffee grinder, however, barely accumulates any crystals, no matter how much you put in. It is a much older model, made of different materials and crystals just don't seem to stick to the sides at all. I suppose it varies.

I just cleaned my Spacecase for the first time in ages. It was so gunked up I couldn't get it open last night; needed the jaws of life. Gotta tell you that I was getting mighty nervous when I couldn't get that sucker open! :uhoh:

It's back to almost new condition again after a little ISO soak. Now I just need to get some Grinder Grease from PuffItUp to keep it that way. I urge all of you to clean your grinder today! No one needs to have a panic attack like I did. ;)

I too use a coffee grinder at home and agree. Personally, I like to take advantage of the keif lossage and collect it all in a vile by brushing it and scooping it off. I still get plenty high off the bud and I just love vaping straight keif sometimes. Havn't seen the keif from expensive 4 peices but the keif I collect has barely any plant matter.

I have used an electric coffee grinder in the past, and the keif that accumulates in it is actually some of the purest keif I've collected (based on color).

I normally grind with either a 2 piece or the coffee grinder, and then sift out the keif in a 4 piece.
So The coffee grinder just helps me gather the keif :D

I used to have troubles getting the keif out of the coffee grinder, but then I figured out this trick:
after I've poured my ground up bud into my chosen storage container, i put the lid back on the coffee grinder, turn it upside down, and give it a quick 1-2 second blast.
The tornado effect picks up all (OK, most) of the keif in the coffee grinder, and as its upside down, all the keif settles into the easily removable lid :)

EDIT:
I don't notice my bud being all that less potent, and I can top a load with Keif if I want that extra punch.

Neat trick Fred, I'll try that next time I'm out of bud (emergency kief lives in the coffee grinder), I've always used a little brush that was in the back of one of those anti static vinyl cleaner things. Works really well and doesn't seem to have any of the kief stick to it.

I also find that the more keif you let build up on the lid, the more plant matter you get, but you also get more keif in total. I guess trichs and green sticks to keif, but only trichs sticks to plastic. Out of my friends, I am the one with the most desire to save my keif, I just store it loose in a vial. But when they do gather some their methods are different. Personally I keep my weed in my grinder as I go through it, and when I grind I add a little bit of moisture to the lid with my breath. This seems to help me get more keif, and it has no more plant matter than without doing that. my frind does the same thing except he dumps his weed out after grinding and then does a few spins out the bud in it. Havnt tried it this way, but I really wonder if he is getting less plant matter. I also forgot to mention I have a 420 scope and examine my keif for plant matter with it. Works quite well IME. And +1 on the little brush!

You guys will laugh but for about six months Ive been using a 99 cent sink strainer. I just use my fingers to manipulate the bud in a clockwise then counter-clockwise motion until it all breaks up. It works great , separates seeds and stems like a champ but (and its a big one) its a bitch to collect kief. I use a small fan to blow out the kief stuck on it and I feel lose about 1/4 of it doing this. But I does not bother me that much. I've used everything from cheap acrylic to Shrapstone and this is the best when it comes to price vs usability.

Bollocks! My cheap electric grinder finally died on me. After what may be over two years of constant and unwavering service, the motor has given up the ghost. The unit never skipped a beat up until the end and never created a bit of waste up until now, as it was run off of rechargeable batteries. I will definitely miss it and have had to fall back on the Puffitup MFLB grinder, which while excellent, is very time consuming versus the electric.

Wow, at that price I think it's a great grinder. Why do you prefer scissors if I may ask? I really loved this grinder, it gave me a MFLB fine grind with an absolute minimum of fuss and effort.

Because they like scissors, therefore absolutely nothing can be better than scissors

I personally prefer my Storz and Bickel Acrylic Grinder.

The storz acrylic kicks ass - I recently laid my sharpstone to rest! It never brushed its teeth and it finally broke a few!

Could you please tell me which ones are your favorites and which do you think are the best value? Thank you.

my favorite is the small chromium crusher that in the middle. it has smaller holes than most 4 pcs grinders so it creates the perfect grind for vaporizers. still looks as good as the day i got it and the teeth are still as sharp as ever. it gets used multiple times a day and has held up great.

left is the small CC. on the right is the larger 2.5" CC. notice how much smaller the holes are.

Is that the 2 inch or 2.2 inch? That looks like something I would like to own... so I did a little shopping and found this in an eBay listing, "Design improvements on the new 2012 Chromium Crusher is the cool new laser etching and the shape of the outer most layer holes in the grinding compartment has been modified to further enhance your grinder experience." They are now big oval shaped holes on the outer layer and I'm sure that will make a difference.

I'm also looking at the Titan, anyone have anything bad to say about it? I'm aware that it should produce more of a medium grind.
