Gear Tamasium Concentrate extractor?

Hey Bob, do you feel the extractor was worth the price?
hey darb, it truly depends on a few factors that can only be answered by you.
how important is safety?
quality?
enviro/conservation of butane?
time?
money?
general starting product?

it is for me as i mostly run leaf, i can do it in my house right next to me. green factor of recycling matters a lot to me from both enviro and cash. i have plenty of time to do this. i can afford it. quality is easier to control with a straight tube, but can be achieved w/ the proper procedure and tools. hope that helps!

ditto, and thanks again, btw!
how's that rezblock treating ya?

will keep ya posted. i didn't even vac purge this as it was late and my fiancee was asleep plus it is the clean-up from trim so this is definitely worst case scenario. haven't noticed any acridity in the omi cart, however a liiiiittle bit with the nail. the second hit with a different wax on the same nail yields a little left over orange flavor. also it buddered easily.

RezBlock is still doing well. It works well in the fritter and makes routine cleaning a breeze. I am experimenting with the d-limonene and some reclaim from my HA. I already had a lot of this stuff and was using it to season my new nail and I thought why not? The oil was hot, on my Mr. Coffee mug warmer and I put in a couple drops.

Immediately it kicked 2 things out in precipitate. One was a sandy, gritty material that filtered out and the second was a tiny "tar" ball that formed and was easily removed. The resulting filtered and purged oil is cleaner, easier to work with, and smells and looks much better. Gonna try it on the nail later and will let you know . . .

EDIT: Wow, this is amazing. I hit this oil and it looks better, tastes better, behaves better, performs better in the nail and also has a very nice effect. I am sold on d-limonene. Now if I can extract ABV with it . . . :hmm: Here is a pic lit from beneath:

Would the oil from the tamisium possibly gather more flavour from the buds/trim since it's left in butane for a longer time?

And how would you guys judge the oil you get from using the tamisium in terms of taste? Has switching to a more pure butane ( 99.0%n-butane and ^) have any noticible increases in your oils flavour, or potency?

thanks for any replies!

I mostly hear taste being affected by the length cure of the material being ran. A fresher material will give you a more flowery taste a longer cure will be more hashy. If your running fresh material the colder the better so you can tie up the water as ice if possible this is where the thermos soak method or a dewar is useful.

But I too would be interested to hear if taste is increased by a longer solvent wash.

Deluxe with brass fittings, or Super Deluxe w/Stainless Steel?

Also, is it possible to use less plant material and more steel wool (as per the tutorial vids, or other filter material) if you want to run a smaller batch (sorry if this was covered...I did read through the entire thread but I could have missed it)?

Helped much...thanks much.

Just ordered the Super Deluxe w/the Custom Fitting Install.

Bob do you use steel wool with smaller batches to fill the extra space, or should I be looking for another filter material?

hey jd! welcome to the club! i do use steel wool, i rinse it with iso first to clean it. i have also run smaller batches of flowers and this has worked perfectly. hope that helps!. let us know what you think. i love mine. can do many runs in a day and don't have to worry about the weather or the neighbors.

Looking forward to it...like QTS I have a bunch of once run sitting here waiting to be my first attempt (after a canned tane cleanse).

Just got some o-ring grease, is there any other little miscellaneous items I will need when this lil' beast arrives?

a bike pump, shrader valve (from tami guy) and a vac pump and you should have all you need. a freezer big enough to hold the entire unit (if you plan on running sub zero for flowers). LARGE POT for holding column and extract tank. a good plastic or teflon scraper. everclear, 99% iso, or d-limonene. for getting all that hard to reach stuff. vac chamber, parchment paper also useful.

they don't make a smaller one, they do make a larger one, however. you can go on the cheap, and not get the additional case, laser temp gun, SS valves, etc. and keep it closer to a grand. but otherwise, it looks like ur holding a leaking bomb while peering over your shoulder for now.

Hey Bob, a friend has one of these and was wondering if you could help. When you say many runs in a day, are these back to back to back or is there time being spent refreezing everything? My friends extracts seem to end up with a lot of chlorophyll in them. Seeing everyone else's runs come out so nicely, the only thing I could attribute it too is not freezing the material first, maybe. His process seems to be the same as everyone else. It basically comes out similar to simpson oil. That's fine for his purposes but I want some good errl out of this thing! I was thinking of getting some activated charcoal but I don't understand why, if this thing is such a beast, why does it come out looking like 3rd or 4th wash QWISO?

Also seems to have a problem with the piece that connects the two ends (I guess it's called a quick connector?) together. It doesn't seem to snap together properly and butane ends up leaking out of what is supposed to be a leak-proof machine if not held together by hand!

Any help with these 2 problems is greatly appreciated. Thanks Bob!

tony yayo,
hi there! I took the plunge and bought two 175's and I am eagerly waiting the n tane arrival. My question is about the d limeonene transfer solvent. when do you add this to the extraction/recovery process, and how much do you use to achieve your desired result? thanks in advance!

This is amazing. Makes me wish I wasn't a family guy so I could do this myself. Would never get past the wife tho...

@tony yayo - you CAN do multiple runs a day. it's easier if you have two.
if you want to deep freeze it'll take longer.
i keep the whole thing (including butane) frozen and run it using pressure and vacuum instead of temp differentials to move the 'tane. as to other hints to reduce chlorophyll, like winterization, check out skunkpharm research. lots of good stuff there.

@Luckysglass - i don't use the limonene for anything but cleaning, i use ethanol for cleaning and winterization

Thanks again, I'm going to be doing as many runs as possible so I'm trying to figure out the fastest way to get the oil out of the container, it sounds like leaving a little butane is the fastest result?

i actually run the vac purge on the unit and get it up to 160f for the last 10-15min, so i just scrape it out while its still warm, then it hardens on the mat, but doing an after purge is sometimes necessary. leaving some butane in will help if that is your preference

That sounds awesome! I'll have to get the vacuum setup ASAP. You hook your vacuum up to the tami? This tool never ceases to amaze me with the potential :-)

Bob loblaw, again thank you so much for your receptiveness in this issue, I plan on producing this oil for collectives, so any help is appreciated. I blow glass pipes, so maybe I could compensate your troubles with a glass piece :-) I want to learn as much as I can!
