Discontinued The Grasshopper

Don't worry, it's just machine oil. You'll vape it away ;)
But it's a used unit, the person I traded it with DID say that it has just come back from an update and fix from GH, I don't know if maybe they used oil on it

Better a deep cleaning with iso before use but take care of the heater segment. It doesn't like iso very much.

That's a real CS no-go! At least they should privilege your new (old) RMA! "The RMAed piece don't work? Back to start of our waitlist!" WTF? I'd try to force them to handle your RMA privileged.
Good luck unless things have changed significantly .... they didn’t care how much they fucked me over in the past ... it’s simple ... I can either continue to spend more and more money on shipping ($25 a shot), or I can keep my 2 lifetime warrantied paperweights ... since your only recourse is email and support tickets, and you can’t actually talk to anyone, and there is no way to escalate an issue ... you are basically 100% at their mercy to do whatever the fuck they want to you and to tell you whatever they want as they can’t be held accountable ...

Now that that rant is over .... I am still hopeful that my $350 hoppers (once you account for warranty shipping costs) will eventually work right ...

Naturally replies were decently fast on this exchange until of course
I wrote my rant email. Probably some stuff I shouldn’t have wrote, but oh well... honestly I think I’m done with the hopper. Especially since they made me buy new batteries.

Now, the hunt is on. I love my Mighty but I love the instant punch the hopper gives.

Could become a nice ritual - the daily GH update by @newVaper420 . But then you have to bring a bit more. Telling a joke or a wheather report at least! ;)

Hahahahaha ok I can work on that....

Let's start with my first one.....

What did the Mighty say to the Grasshopper?

......

Mighty: "You working bro?"

Hahahahaha. ok that was a bad joke :-). But, I had fun. LOL.

I tell you, what a stark difference between how VapeXhale handled their troubles, and how Grasshopper handles theirs.

Wow. And greetings. Newbie poster but long time lurker on FC and this forum - and I own a Ti Hopper. It's two years old and, believe it or not though most of you will believe it, I ordered it over 3 years ago (pre-order). It's my only dry herb vape, use it daily and, sadly, it's time it goes in for service. Yep, the backend is getting too hot and most draws are ghost pulls with little vapor produced. Not that vapor production is paramount for me but it's noticeably diminished and draw resistance has increased too. My sweet spot temperature is 3.7 - 3.9 depending on the strain. I dispensed using the silicone tip a few months after getting it and following a trip to Amsterdam(!!) with it - I nearly lost it a few times due to it stretching out and fitting too loosely too which is why I no longer use it. I also have several batteries, including an original one, and constantly rotate them and use a Nitecore charger. I regularly soak the frontend in an ISO bath and just brush out the chamber - only once have I used ISO on it and didn't think it was absolutely necessary or worth the risk. However it is indeed time it goes back for service.

I haven't read this forum lately but did peruse the recent posts - heck, we're on page 862 and it was like 283 when I got my Hopper read nearly everything before that, and haven't read anything since - given the fact that I need to send it in, I wanted to see what was going on in Hopperland. It doesn't bode well in general from what I've read - from the long RMA times and less-than-stellar customer service which hasn't changed - so before I send it in, I'm going to purchase another dry herb vape so I have something to use while my Ti is in the shop. It will be a while from the sounds of it but tempered and mitigated once I acquire another vape before sending my Ti back.

I will say I love portability which the Hopper definitely meets but over time its performance has degraded and getting too hot even rotating batteries. It's easy to use, pocket, adjust temps, clean and pocket and it works well - when it's optimally working.

Alas I will be purchasing my new vape soon - likely HealthyRip's new Fierce. Can't wait and it will likely become my #1 - and only vape for what it sounds like several months. So I thank you for letting me tell my tale, for your recent info about your units and the state of affairs with RMA (ugh! sorry). It will be like witnessing an old friend convalesce and waiting for him/her to return, hopefully as good as... new? To be continued...

Peace.

In my experience with my oldest SS Hopper, replacing the back end eliminated the "hot back end" problem immediately. So, at least in this instance the "hot back end" was caused entirely by the back end and was not related to the body or the batteries at all. The replacement back end that I purchased is the newer version. It works perfectly with my older style (2016) body.

It's possible that a new back end would also fix your "ghost pulls" issue, but I can't attest to that.

So is there any success story about self fixing low temp/light abv/“light” vapor production ? ( first hit of a bowl still gets a nice big cloud but not very milky or thick )

Tried: compressed air, different batteries, moving temp dial to 1 and the 5 again, rubbing bit of iso on the inside of body part.

Had great vapor and dark abv for the first week or so ( received early June ) Now only using it on 5 and it feels like 3.5.

I’m still enjoying the hopper very much, gets me high and it’s my only vape but it can probably work much better.

I don’t want to send it for warranty I would rather continue using as is...

Hi can I ask do you get flashing blue lights when drawing as iv noticed that when this is happening even on a fresh battery that there isn't enough power going to the heater which could explain the wispy vapor. Does the backend heat up a lot? If it is flashing you could try adjusting the tightness of the backend untill the lights are steady blue when drawing. I have found that just before full tightness is a great spot for mine. Might be worth a try

I tried that as well. Had flashing blue lights, then adjusted backend, and lights stopped flashing. Works good but then again, no brown abv and no white thick clouds.

I think it started after the first battery charge. It kept going on blinking red, then I changed a battery and it wouldn’t charge until I found a sweet spot with the beckend.

Now it charges fine all 3 batteries. Also, front end gets really hot feels like hotter on the outside than the chamber. And abv is always dark green

I’m thinking to order a new body part but waiting to hear feedback from @mario I think we have the same issue..

I had some success recently fixing this issue with my SS Hopper ... finally ordered some long wooden q-tips and used one with 99% ISO (actually a couple) and scrubbed a bunch of black carbon from the contact in the base of the body. The first q-tip was black! And I’ve cleaned this recently with a regular q-tip the best I could more than once!

Since then it’s been working much better, Abv is better, body heat issue has gone away, and no longer goes to flashing red 80% of the way through the draw.

I just got an email from them this morning saying it would ship today. So I will make sure to keep you posted. I’m hoping so hard that this fixes it.

By saying “the contact in the base of the body” you mean when you take out the battery ?

What's the over under on whether I'm ever going to get a response from Hopper? Still nothing. They did receive my two bodies, and the rest of the stuff at 11am their time (I think), this morning.

Still nada.

LOL.
