Decided to take my GR8TR out for a cleaning today with some PBW. Well stupid ol' me forgot to not put the black top part in the PBW and man did that paint strip right off!

I figure it should still be alright to use since the top plate's isolated from the herb I wont have to worry about paint chips falling in with my green at least, but I'm thinking of now just letting it maybe soak in the PBW for a day or so to strip all the excess paint off it so it looks more uniform. What do you guys think?

Thinking I may use my space case 2 piece tonight to get better vapor out of my Haze Square. Going to try that finer grind. Pretty sure I may have a fake one but I don’t know. I can’t tell. It’s my wife’s and she got it from a huge stoner back in the late 90s or early 2000s. But I can’t tell if it’s fake or not. Also use a puff grinder by puff pipes. Love this 4 piece. But it’s not grinding my herb fine enough for certain vapes sadly.

If the space case does not say made in USA is it a fake? Space case is also edged into the bottom piece not the lid. Not sure if these is tell tale signs of being fake. But this grinder is also super old.

The 1.5" is pretty darn cheap and much smaller so I may just end up getting both

Using the Super Weapon II upside down (it seems made for that, since the top part is missing some teeth) gives a somewhat fine grind that satisfies me for now. Perfect for larger vapes, I think

Wow! That surely looks horrible. I agree with LesPlenty, just use whatever material you have to, to get it stripped back to basic metal. LesPlenty said PBW, see what others suggest

@littlemaggie, what makes the gr8trt perfect for wood? Gee, I wish companies would stop inserting numbers in words, it's such a slowdown when typing to have to stop & think about the spelling of the damn name -- gr8tr, elev8r.
I wasn't clear- I'm getting addicted to wood vape products. So perfect for me. I am going to order one and will see what the quality of the grind is. Right now I'm using the SW2 and sometimes the Lift even though the grind is too coarse. I'm having some wrist problems and the SLX and Santa Cruz have become more difficult to turn. I can't find my gr8tr- may have rehomed it.

I ended up just dumping the grinder and buying myself a new gr8tr yesterday. Live and learn!

Agreed, and 8t is rather redundant. They basically replaced an "a" with an 8.

Still prob gonna buy it though..

Edit: I messed up @Summer's quote somehow!! Morning medication:haw:

That looks like a pearler, if I still combusted I would jump on it, but I don't, so I won`t, it still may be good for you, even if you don`t combust, fuck arthritis, he is a mofo.
I don`t suppose the Chewey2 was any use, aimed more at the smaller user, me thinks:)
I like my 3.5" 4 piece space case mainly for the size, If you only put a couple of buds in it at a time, the extra leverage of the bigger unit makes it a breeze to turn (you don`t have to stuff a great big handful in it just because it is big, I will while I still can though)
I also saw another brand of super sized grinder, just can`t recall it`s name.:uhh:

I own a chewy2 and, no offense but I don't like it. It takes way too long to grind even enough for a single joint. Great novelty but a pretty poor grinder for me. I have an Aerospace that I have had for 10+ years but I just can't turn it any more. I made the grinder from the Salad Shooter but it is only good for larger grinds like 10 joints at a time.

Now that I am vaping more, I grind smaller amounts at one time. Maybe a couple grams at once. The Salad Shooter is just too big for that. And, the Chewy is too small. Put 2 or 3 grams in a Chewy2 and it takes over 3 minutes to grind it all. LOL 3 minutes is forever.

I like the Otto but holy cow... $130 for a grinder??

Thanks

I think I need to pick up a grinder for FINE grinding.
What 3 or 4 pc grinder do those in the know recommend? (no 2 pc suggestions pls - I really hate using them)
Or do I just suck it up and get the new gr8tr?

I love my Gr8TR with the fine plate!
It is by far the most consistent fine grinder I have used.
I am still using the original version and see no need to upgrade, although the itch is there...

Same here. Even with the coarse plate on the Gr8tr, I get a pretty fine grind upside down. Fluffy too and very little clogging.

A little review of my experience with the Lift Innovations grinder over the last year.

At first glance, I wasn't nearly as thrilled as I was when I pre-ordered it from their Indie Go Go campaign. I wanted a bronze one but settled for black because their production line was taking absolutely forever. Excuse after excuse during production greatly lowered how I felt about supporting this company. The grinder finally grew on me, even though I feel like a hipster owning it.

Things I really like:

-Build quality. Very sturdy and well machined metal. Nice weight to it. Smooth to the touch.
-Super easy to chop herbs. I've run over 10 oz of kind dank through it with no issues whatsoever.
-Half turn threading. I always used to cross thread my old grinder, or it would get stuck if the threads were sticky. No more issues with that.
-Easy to clean and scrape off blade hash.
-It gets a lot of compliments. People always express how impressed they are with how it functions.

Improvements to be made:

-I don't like how the top sometimes doesn't immediately fit into place. It's easy enough, but I don't find it pleasing how the hex bit sometimes doesn't pop right in.
-Not really a fan of the logo + "manufactured in Canada" + serial # + web address inscribed all over the grinder. I don't know what they were thinking there.
-Not the best keif producing screen.
-I'd like if it was a little bigger. (that's what she said)

Overall, I like this grinder and will continue to use it. Seeing that the company just doubled their pricing is a little disappointing as I probably wouldn't pay that much for it. It's definitely a little gimmicky being toted as "the world's most innovative grinder", but works well enough and is cool if you want something different.
