It's way smaller than I thought. I filled the wooden bowl pretty much to the top, tearing not grinding. My first hit was super tasty and really light on vapor. Second hit I heated too much and got a little bit of scorching. I loaded half as much in the next bowl and got 3 pretty good hits from it stirring in between. The first hit really does taste good. I did another bowl where I was playing around with how I was heating it and it went about the same. Unfortunately waking up this morning my throat really hurts so I probably won't use this for a bit. So far I'm liking it though.

Wow thank you so much. But you know that this model is already a portable model?
Cheers

Hey I'm really interested in buying a Roots.

Is there any simple method of using it with a water pipe or making it adaptable for a water pipe?

For example could the MP hole be drilled wide enough to accept a 14mm M2M adapter?

My vision for how I'd use this vape is to have it sitting in my bubbler.

Hi. Glad that you got your vaporizer. Well there is little bit of learning but I think you might get it after a few bowls. You really might was to hot?

Hi. Well I made a very early version for me with a bigger mouthpiece hole so I can put it in a bubbler but it is not ready for sale yet. In future of course there will be some adapter.
You might can just take a silikon ring on the glass stem and stick it into the bubbler?

I don't think it was too hot. I did 3 bowls and only burnt 1 a little. I think that was a combination of too much heat and too slow of an inhale. The other 2 bowls went much better. I'm definitely still learning and trying out heating differently. Mostly just how far up to get it glowing and just how "glowing" to get it. I was thinking I might just try heating 1 side too. Last night I was flipping it over heating both sides.

@Ratchett has a silicone adapter (song) that would work. I have one at home actually, haven't tried it with this yet though. I've lost count of how many of my vapes it works with either directly or with whips or something creative.

Skipped some of the initial heating as you all know how long it is, again not the best video but I don't have great facilities/equipment ;)

I will try another later with a better camera. You should get the idea though, and just showing it does work and how good a fit it is.

@Cl4ud3 wow this seems to work great

I was out today with some friends and thought i have to try a triple flame again. Wow this work awesome, heating time is great and it vapes awesome. here a new video. I clipped about 15seconds of heating time out.

Should be a better video.

I also ended up drilling the oven depth larger by a couple of mm so I could fit in a concentrate pod from the Boundless hybrid (flowermate small oil can)

Worked but was slow with a single flame, got some nice tasty light hits from it. I think it might work better reversed and with the lid removed but I can test that another time.

@Nordicvejp could the heating time be shortened?

Less mass, or a metal with better heat conductivity?

Can't wait to play with my soon 2B "Roots"! :D:leaf::rofl:

PS An air coil? The faster the heating time....
Hi. I have tried shorter heating elements and thinner material to shorten the time but it didn't worked very well. You have to heat while you inhale and it is easier to combust the herbs.

I was sick over the weekend and was in a cough medicine coma so I haven't had a chance to use it again. Every time I pick it up though I'm surprised how tiny it is.

I do kind of wish the top 2 sections were connected by more than magnets. A lot of these style vapes use a short metal cylinder in there so the 2 sections can't slide apart, they need to be pulled apart. In this picture it's that metal part sticking out of the top right wood:

Hello @all.

Finally weekend, puh my usual job really keep me busy so there is no time under the week for my vapes.

But today I had some spare time and I tried the improvement @StormyPinkness mentioned.
Now it is time for testing.

On the left the original and right is the test

@Nordicvejp do you hammer the heating element flat?
Am I seeing hammer marks? It would look nice without
Visible marks/dings? :D

Hi stark. Well yes I figured out very long how I can make them flat without special tools, as you know I did them in my basement with just a handsaw, drill and some sanding paper.
The first ones was hammered, now they get flatten by a press. Yes they are mich less visible marks.

Maybe it gives some character to the unit!

Lol haha, yes that is right. :-) thank you.

@Nordicvejp thank u sooo much for this awesome little device. i bought the unit nearly two weeks ago and it arrived in record time. it is great! i love it! i now just have seen your improvements and i like them a lot.. is it possible to upgrade my device with a little ring of metal myself? or maybe could u upgrade the version 1? or is it possible that the nice wood u got from rastabuddhatao will have all of this improvements as well? if so i am thinking about getting the version 2 (i like to name it ;)) with that superb looking new wood:brow::)
as said: nice job brosky!:rockon::love::leaf:

and just as a little review: easy, lovely, pure convection (!), portable, tiny and cushion kicking butane vaporizer at its finest! highly recommended!

Yeah @Nordicvejp as I mentioned on IG I am really looking forward to trying one of these out in the nice spalted maple you're getting from RBT. Will be even better to have a more finalized version then too. Great job honing the design when it already seemed to work quite well!

Got a Roots (v1.0) over the weekend.

It is reely teeny! Very cute!

Thank you!:leaf: @Nordicvejp

A question/suggestion, or two:

~is the silicone gasket around the heating element hi-temp?

~ can the heater and the draw tube be positioned/offset so that the draw tube can be stored inside
when in transit? (I plan to go with a shorter glass for the time being, or go natural)

~be nice to have graphics burned in, or at least a "Roots" design logo?

~ glass-lined insert between heater and mouthpiece?

~higher heat conductive metal for faster rips?

Choice of different woods. YAH?

A very nice work-in-progress! Indeed. :tup::clap::nod::cheers::spliff:

PS for added flare/class, a flared mouth piece?
