Herb Grinders

Pax has come out with a 3 piece, apparently it's a collaboration with SCS

Very little info, but could be one to watch.
I found a little write up

"The PAX grinder has been designed to grind your material down to a fine material that is great for use with vaporizers. Ensuring that your material is not to clumply will help in the process of vaping it more evenly."
Apparently it also catches kief

It looks beautiful. However, theres a few things that stand out:

  • I've only seen one picture of it. And it doesn't show the teeth.
  • The lid looks like it's 1/4th of an inch thick. How exactly do they expect anyone to grip that thing?
  • It looks slick. But they should have engraved the logo.

@steama

The Boomers grinder has arrived...:(
Threw in my stickiest bud and gave it a whirl, starts off with a slight resistance and then it just spun freely as if nothing was inside.
Opened it up and all the bud was ground and pushed to the outer edge, where the space between the edge of the grinder and the teeth is too large.

Threw it back in my Kannastor Vape GR8TR and it was good to go.

I give the Boomers super heavy Stainless Steel grinder a big :rip:

A fix would be to have a stainless steel ring made to fit inside that space to keep the bud in the teeth all the time.

Apparently designing a fine grind grinder requires some serious rocket science degrees...

Grind if good for smoking, chunky and fluffy and not for vaporizers.

The paxvapor Instagram has posted a pic of this grinder, and it looks just like a regular SCS 3-pc on there. Maybe this pic is just a weird rendering that made it onto the website?

I broke my Kannastor plastic ring and they won't send me a new one, always out of stock.

That's not good, I contacted them to know if a coarse plate is available as a stand alone accessories and it seems like it's impossible to buy spare parts for their grinders. Pretty lame given we are talking about a modular design.

I love my SCS, but I was wondering how good a Cali Crusher or an SLX 2.0 would be compared to it.

Came to read about grinders; fucked combustion
Don't want to bust on anyone either, but was thinking the same. If I don't have to give my grinder at least a dry toothbrush every two weeks (like I like to do to recover whatever I can before monthly or so alcohol cleaning), I'm either not grinding or getting some crappy mexi-brick swag (which I don't!).

I pretty much never clean my grinder(s). I go through about half a gram per day. Don't know if my failure to require cleaning results from how I operate my grinders, or if maybe I have more gunk tolerance than other people, but what I do is put a ring of five or six small nugs around the male magnet piece (bottom teeth) on my medium SCS, then grind normally. I initially began grinding in the center for leverage, but I suspect it keeps things cleaner, too, since grinding in the center effectively keeps herbs from getting crushed between the two outer walls (male and female parts). The fact that I pretty much never grind upside down (or sideways) surely helps, too. When I have ground upside down, I have found that it makes a big mess.

I've had this grinder since December. Haven't cleaned it once. Probably not even when it was new. Note that my SCS has a matte finish. Not only do I like the looks of matte finish better, but I also think it's much easier to keep clean than glossy grinders. I have had a stick of Grinder Grease for a couple months that hasn't even made it out of its shipping envelope.

I think the only thing that would need to be done to keep the fine grounds and kief from ever touching the threads is for the male part of the threading (third stage) to extend higher, so it basically contacts the bottom of the second stage; as long as all the drop holes are inside this ring.

The SCS produces a superior grind to the SLX 2.0, but the SLX stays clean longer. I cannot comment on the Cali Crusher.

I prefer the SCS to everything else I have used because of the fluffy grind and quality build.

I have a 2 piece SCS and it's grind is extremely chunky, it lives in the drawer with a few other mates.

Can anyone comment on the similarity of grind between the Kannastor Vape Gr8TR and the @NewVape710 fine grinder? I need something as fine or slightly finer than the Kannastor.

I found if I overload a 2 piece or just grind it too much, it gets chunky.. I'm not saying that's what happened to you, just sharing my experience.

Do you have a SCS if you do how does the NewVape fine grinder compare in grind quality? I'm so glad you picked one of these up.

So you think it's a winner?

I have always used some random stainless steel ones. Never really thought about the grind effecting the vapor. I have a medtainer grinder as well and that does better than the ss one I have but this is amazing. Just used it with the shake I have got such a better high :) winner for sure!

so now i think i have to get one of those. I would love a three piece from New Vape. Whish this company had an european retailer who carries the whole stock of them, all about New Vape sounds just so legit to me.
I really like how they approach things.

so I broke my hand last night. I didn't really think it was that big of a deal at first, as work can put me on random small jobs to keep me working and it wasn't a serious break. But then I needed to grind up a bud. no Bueno. the girl was at work and my brother was out and about. I finally said fuck it and started to use the old scissors and shot glass trick. it sort of worked for me holding the shot glass between my knees. anyways, I finally said "fuck it" and brought my grinder and bud to the garage where I had to sit the bottom half of the grinder on top of a bottle while I closed the vise, I proceeded to add bud to the bottom half and started my one handed grind, It worked great! until I dumped all the ground bud on the garage floor when trying to loosen the vise and keep the grinder from falling.

Anyone wanna grind up a bunch of buds for me?

Oh man @KidFated, that really sucks. Sorry to hear about your predicament.

I would bring my own bud over and grind that up for you and let you enjoy. You deserve it :)

@KidFated. Sorry to hear about your troubles man.

I was thinking you could sit on the floor and use your feet to hold the grinder while you turn the top half.

I just tried it and I used a cushion to sit on with my back up against the couch so wasn't uncomfortable at all. Had to take socks off though for grip, suggest you wash feet first and grind a week's worth at a time.

Heal fast bud.
