if i buy Santa Cruz Shredder does it use one?
Yes. SCS has a Teflon Gasket also.
I don't see how anyone could lose or wear out any grinder's o-ring, yet you seem to be extremely worried about that happening. Am I missing something?
I wore one out after about 7 years use..... (Daily and Heavy use, a dozen times a day).... and
It developed a thin spot, that finally made it open on one side.
I used the grinder with that worn gasket for 2 more years before I was guided to OneSource.
I agree the acquisition of new Gaskets should not concern most people.

7 years though then you have to buy another new grinder, In the long run the costs are halved i bet doing it my way and this is just my ethos i may seem odd to some but my goals are buy once never again not buy cheap buy twice.

And having perfectionist tendacy i look after everything to the point in 20 years time bar that one dent most of my possessions look like the day i bought them. So i guess this probably rules out all of the above inc the SCS unless they sell me some. I sent SCS Shredder an email because out of them all i like the look of it the most it is just missing gaskets for people like me to give it a nod of approval.

So until then i guess i am buying a 2PC Small Titanium Space Case. We will have to wait a bit to see what SCS say first though if they say yes it will be the 40mm SCS.

You have been given the name of the man and the address to request replacement gaskets.
I wore only one gasket, but when I made contact with them I was sent a Gasket for each size Space Case makes.
So i guess this probably rules out all of the above inc the SCS unless they sell me some.
I wanted mine free, as warranty replacement.
Check out the Space Case O-Rings available for sale at:
http://www.spacecasegrinders.com/o-rings/
SCS offers a Lifetime Warranty also, but does not offer replacement gaskets at all
If you lose or break a gasket they will replace the grinder.
You can also measure the SCS, and use a SC oring if the same size.

I do not think anyone.... even the most compulsive among us needs to worry about wearing out a Gasket.
I am the only person I know that ever wore one out.
When I did wear it out after 7 years, that was my ONLY grinder, and was the small size.
I used it to grind about a quarter ounce a day, and removed the gasket weekly during a weekly Iso bath.
That grinder was used abusively, and the Gasket only wore because of the roughness with which I pulled it on and off each time..... having to use a knife to pluck it off the unit, due to limited movement of my fingers from spasticity.

Hey, @InterplanetaryTanner , I want to make clear that while I didn't find your arguments against the SLX particularly persuasive or think you were serving yourself criticizing them, I absolutely appreciate your being in here promoting YOUR product, answering questions and looking for suggestion for how to improve it.

I wish more vendors did that and you are to be congratulated for it.

Its always entertaining to me what people think is important, and I certainly understand the value of good presentation from a marketing perspective, but I can't help but admire the refusal of SLX to play along. While much of their competition spends significantly on packaging, including going so far as to present in a pretty wood box, SLX just puts their product in a minimal recycled cardboard box. They must believe it is up to their product to impress. Nice.

Obviously there are exceptions...
THE-CLIPPER-1-1.jpg

The exceptions may be partly newer brands that may not have the following to "self advertise". If no one knows the product there has to be a way to make it stand out.

Short of packaging they need GREAT reviews...

Thanks i do hope they will let you order a part otherwise lifetime warranty means nothing i only knocked it on wood with my foot there is no dent im just missing a tiny tiny bit of Titanium anodizing now on the kief section out of the four parts. @gonzorelli777 i am going to try Facebook also when i get time too i am for sure going to hunt down something or replace it depending on thier Customer service.

Also @Vitolo the O-rings for Space Case are Delrin Teflon O-Rings never heard them called gaskets here in Europe but yes if i buy Santa Cruz Shredder does it use one? And if so where do you buy spares the SCS website only lists grinders. I really need a nano finnishing grinder in 2 parts but with gaskets and lifetime warranty. And unless someone on here can answer me or SCS answer me themselves then im going to have to go for something like a Space Case 50mm or the MLFB nano grinder and Herborizer Nano grinders are both 30mm but crucially the O-rings on all models are not purchaseable so when the teflon is worn out you need a new grinder instead of a 4$ replacment bit of teflon.

All of this hassle just to finnish your grind fine enough *rolls eyes* and not spill while tipping it into an 88mm Space Case.
Hey man, hope you have some luck anyway. If you bought the Space Case from an authorised re-seller they will honour the warranty for sure. Anything bought from their own spacecase.com site and their official re-sellers will have the life-time warranty. They don't honour warranty claims from purchases made on Ebay, Amazon or DHGAte, due to the proliferation of fakes!

Sent a second to state that and asked space case grinders who are offical what to do also. It did have a light anodized coating i could argue as a defect you can see it on the top where some spots had a purple hint. The base underneath the black is purple which is not a good sign.

Worst case scenario i hope is paying maybe 20 bucks for the bottom section. If they did that i will buy a 2PC small.

Came to read about grinders; fucked combustion
I remember reading something a year or two ago about batches of titanium space cases (that are supposed to be black) coming out purple. I'd think of it as a collector's item.

FWIW I got a reply back quickly before from space case official Instagram page when asking if the new colored grinders were legit or not. I think it was @space.case.grinders. I think it's The original owner that runs the page too.

Way back the Ti ones had a greyish purple color to them. Those were the best. They changed it up to the black black when one of the original guys left the company to start cosmic case I believe.

Yeah man that is the owner's Instagram. Their Facebook is also admin'd by the owner (well, his son, who manages the digital side of the business). Their sale is still going on too.

My Ebay shot in the dark Space Case arrived today, and good news, it's legit. The admin at Space Case looked over some photos I sent and it is seems to be authentic.

BUT

Why oh why does there always have to be a but? It isn't the medium size - as the listing clearly stated it to be (even had the exact 63mm size in the labeling) - it's the large. 88mm of pure sleek machining. It is a wonder. But it's so big! I wasn't sure if I was happy or disappointed at first, but now that I have played around with it, got used to the feel, I really like it. It's a beast! @Vapor_Eyes I've inadvertently joined the 88mm club :D

How did they get the labeling so wrong? It also has some fairly prominent scratches on the top and bottom pieces, but it is immaculate inside. The Ebay listing stated it to "be B-stock, open-box return due to customer changing mind". I asked the seller - who sold literally nothing else related to weed, their entire store was hygiene products and household items, hundreds of them, and then this lone Space Case - if the item was in new condition, as that is what the listing said, and they replied that it was. So the extensive scratching on the outside was a bummer but it's merely cosmetic. It's perfect inside and that's what counts!

Yup. Hence mine & @MoltenTiger gave them 0.5/10 for packaging but that is a good thing. Maybe a stronger box but anything else is unnecessary really.

Love that review Molten. I think 47/50 is about par for my thoughts. Strange hearing it called a SLX as I have always said it as a Slix as in "Slix never sticks".

@gonzorelli777 yea welcome on board man i just sold an 88mm 2 PC because it is too big for me so i got my entire money back on it but my 4PC Titanium 88mm is my baby there is nothing like it and i think with the sheer size if you like it finder grind into it with a finnishing grinder in 2PC like i plan to do. At 88mm you have a lot of room you can have 44mm and still double the diameter not to spill. So you pinch some of the chunky bits and grind them back into the kief screen and shake it and this way you can have 2 tiers of buds and powder.

First tier is one normal grind into the SC which has some chunks handy for weed bedding and sandvich. Second tier is the stuff you put into the 2PC of which you have full control. And in the third tier we have the final power pollen in the bottom. Now they also sell the O-rings so with a few spares and care you will never need anything again in your entire life unless you dent it or bust the screen. So it makes sense to spend the 140$ it would take for two Space Case.

@Aimless Ryan It is not a all over purple hue sadly to warrant being a collectors it is proper black but there are two little spots or so of purple where the coating wasnt thick enough perhaps. I got it in Jan 2015 i think for 99 usd.

I am getting used to the size more and more :)

It's amazing, perfect for the coffee table. I will be picking up some flower in a couple of days, can barely wait to try it!

Haha! I'm not too keen on either colour option there, but I might bookmark the site for later and see if a wider range becomes available :D

I went with the Green so Green/Black for Herborizer it looks amazing and has done for 2 solid years. Also @space.case welcome to the forums i think we have everyone here now i love apart from Storz and Bickel.

What do you say about improvements to the Space Case grinders to make all the old batches useless to counterfeit sellers by making the pollen section curved around the edges? I use a plastic spoon straw (from amazon again Gonzorelli if you want some) and i can see i am rubbing plastic upon metal and wearing it down. And because there is no curve some bits get stuck. This is but one of the innovations you can see becoming standard alongside anodizing tooth shapes and removable screens.

@Vapor_Eyes yea it just screams to your inner caveman you cannot suppress the man genes! I love to hold it and give it a good palm slap to shake the buds up after i grind it. Being so large it just feels unbreakable. And indeed i think it is unbreakble but not unscratchable! Be safe not sorry!

Welcome to the 88mm club @gonzorelli777! I'm looking forward to your impressions once you've tested it out. It sure is a beast but damn if it doesn't feel good to use it. I specifically wanted a very large grinder and its size still surprised me when I first saw it.

Welcome to the forum @space.case, it's nice to see you here!

Aw man I can't wait to try it out. Have some Amnesia Lemon arriving tomorrow so I'll have something to report then. It truly is a monster. The machining is millimeter-precise. I love it now.
