The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Anyone run into this?

I have 2 batteries that were both working last night, and now they both seem to be dead.

I was vaping with people last night, so I charged one completely and we all vaped. I then put the other battery in to charge as well. Then this morning the activation buttons wouldn't work. I tried both batteries, but the green light wouldn't come on/flash.

I tried connecting with my phone, but it couldn't find the ff2. I put it on the dock, and the blue light flashed, and I was then able to connect with my app. The battery level was red for both batteries. After charging them for some time, the battery level is still red.

Seems really weird that the batteries would both die at the same.

That is hard to comprehend i would guess the device is the culprit.

Also, the battery isn't getting warm like it normally would as it "charges".

Are you thinking the device killed the batteries?
Could be the dock. There've been a few wonky docks floating around.

If you have an alternate method of charging (like an FF1, or external charger, or a friend with a functioning FF2 dock) we could narrow this down. But as Monster notes, it's unlikely to be simultaneous battery failure....it's either the device or the dock.

....leave it alone for awhile ....than come back...sometimes that helps...why?...I have no idea...but it has worked for me...good luck man.

@abscr One more thing to test if you haven't: switch the button activation to single left, or single right button to activate. After a night of passing the FF2 around with folks the left button actually became, well, no longer "touch" sensitive. As in, it took the slightest bit--but still a bit--of pressure to get the green light. I use to keep it on both buttons, but now I stick with the right button activation only. I've fussed with the left button and gotten it to respond to only touching, and not pressing, most of the time. Chalking it up to someone pressing it too firm.

Probably not relevant since you also described battery problems in your post, but one of my FF2 units sometimes fails to activate when I touch both buttons. If I moisten my thumb and index finger slightly with saliva it will activate on the next try.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm going to send it in. I think it's the device or dock, as it's not charging at all. The only way I can connect with the app is when it's docked, and it shows the batteries as red/depleted. No activation with either buttons.

Thanks again!

Hello everyone. Let me start by apologizing, for making my first post a negative one.

I received my FF2 two day's ago and i can't for the life of me get a decent vape from this thing. The airflow seems way to tight and every time i put the lid back on the airflow seems a little different. I constantly need to re-seat the lid after every stir until i feel it has sealed properly, but then it's way to tight and i get a poor hit. After learning that the default setting is 205c i believe, i knew i should have been getting way better performance than i was. So I'm pretty sure my device isn't performing the way it should be. But I'm open to all and any suggestions.

I did a fair bit of research before buying this device and I'm doing all the recommended tip's trick's and methods to get best results. The only other portable i have to compare it to is my trusty Solo, and i think setting 5 is 200c and it out performs the FF2 in every way.

Something sounds off here. Your air restriction, regardless of how you'd describe it, should be the same for every hit. The lid has a little notch it fits into....there shouldn't be any ambiguity about it being seated correctly. It should kind of snap into place each time, and you're done.

The airflow will feel restricted, which is how it's intended to work in order to generate thick enough vapor. If you are not getting good vapor on the High setting, something is wrong.

What does your material look like after you've taken a few hits? Browner? Or the same? ie can you visually tell if your weed is actually getting vaped?

The ABV surprisingly looks fine, light to dark brown after 5-6 draws. The first 2 draws produce little vapor and the 3rd can be decent if i draw really hard, then it just drops of drastically, this is while stirring every 1-2 draws.

This is on the Medium high setting as i can't get to the settings at the moment. Apparently my phone is to crap for the app lol. I'm about 2 years overdue a phone upgrade so i should have a new one by the end of the week, then i can finally get the FF app.

OK it sounds like the unit is working, at least nominally....since it's convection, you'd have to be drawing hot air over the weed to brown it. Here's my checklist for great vapor...

1. Make sure the lid and mouthpiece are seated correctly. Push in on the mouthpiece with your thumb...make sure it clicks into place.
2. Pack the bowl pretty densely.
3. Make sure you are drawing for at least ten seconds. Don't let up on the buttons while you draw. Make your draw slow and steady.
4. Stir every three or four hits.

Maybe this is all old advice for you, but again make sure your pack is dense and your draws are long. The draw will feel restricted, but not excessively...make sure no debris is blocking the mouthpiece. Good luck!

Thanks for your suggestions. But i have obviously been doing all of these methods with no success. I do all the recommended tips every time i pack a bowl. The material might be browning properly but the vape performance is little to none. And with my lid not seating properly every time I'm not even sure I'm getting the proper airflow.

I can't stir every 3-4 hit because I'm only getting 4-6 hits per bowl, and i need to stir every hit to get any type of visible vapor. I always draw slow for at least 10 seconds on most of the vapes I've tried and have, but i can't do it with my ff2, i have to bring it up to a medium to high draw to get vapor, and it is very tight at that speed.

I'm reading all these posts by people saying they get big rips of flavor and vapor, I'm just not getting any of that or close to it, which leads me to believe that I'm having an issue. I have no problem working with a device over the space of a couple of months until i get the hang of it. I had to do it with the Solo when making the transition to vaping, i thought it was horrible, but over time it has become great.

I'm just not sure if mine is faulty or do i just have to work with it, but I'm leaning towards faulty based on the performance at those temperatures. I think my best bet then would be to contact support.

How are you breaking apart your material? I like to cut it apart with sharp scissors like I am packing a glass piece. Personally, I don't like to use a grinder on this vape but plenty of others do. Also, another tip is to pack it full but don't press the material down in the bowl part. The quality of material matters. I get what I can find. I use my mighty if I get material that isn't the greatest and don't even bother using the FF2 in these situations.

Getting the app might be the underlying issue. For starters, it is best to put this on the high setting until you get the technique. Adjusting the power tuning is nice too.

Thanks. Yeah i can't wait to play around with the app. My material is home grown and well dried and cured. I use a 4 part grinder or just break up bud with my fingers.

I'm going to contact the store i bought it from and see what can be done about the lid anyway, if it's suppose to snap into place and make a seal then mine doesn't do that, it takes a few tries to get it sealed. And honestly most of the time i think i have a seal i don't think i actually do, it feels tight and i draw slow but i get a tiny little wisp of vapor, even though the ABV looks fine.

Everything has come together a few times and i got a really tasty vape with respectable vapor production for what it is. I'm not trying to dis the device because when it works, oh! man does it work. My blackberry kush has never tasted so delicious.

Thanks guy's

Probably the lid. I think you have an air leak somewhere after the bowl. Push that mouthpiece hard to make sure it is seated properly. It sounds like you've narrowed it down to the lid, which makes sense given the results you're getting.

Thx. I removed and cleaned the mouth piece a few time. I also tried it without the little metal screen, no difference. The lid seems to be the problem, but i have inspected the lid closely and see nothing that stands out that would cause a problem. I'll let the experts have a look at it and see what they say.

Does anyone know if/when the Jet Black (all black) Firefly 2 will be available in the US? Or is it exclusive to other countries?

I had similar issues, and the lid was the problem. I ordered two extra lids, and both created a much tighter seal than the first. Like you said, nothing appeared wrong with the faulty lid, which is extremely annoying because there's no way to know if you have a bad lid until you try vaping with it.

Thx. Is the lid covered by the warranty. If it takes me several attempts to get a good seal then it must be the seal that's the problem, and i have read that the seal isn't covered!?. As i said the lid doesn't have any visual problems/damage.

I hope it's a smooth and hassle free process.

Question for concentrate vapors: is it ok to use oil with the FF2 concentrate pads, or is it better to use shatter or other more solid types?
