There are a few considerations re: what second vape, I went with a 2nd Solo to rotate and no regrets but I don't take it everywhere, only to work sometimes. I've wondered about a log? (if that's what the grasshopper is) and interested to see what Ed's comes up with but I don't think I need anything more. No need for a desktop since I have too much stuff already. I consider 2 Solos a good investment for what use I get.
Edit: the next day, regarding how civilised the Solo is - I took it to work and I swear it's helping me deal with some anger issues. I have to try to be a bit discrete though.

VapCap might fit the bill but you need a fire source considering it's butane. Perhaps the Summit? Discreet, quick heat up time, vibrates when ready so you can keep it in the pocket before you hit it. Got some other features that help it be stealthy and a decent choice.

Logs are wooden desktop vaporizers, they "need" to plug into the wall (or a 12 source to heat up properly). I say "need" because if you're handy, you can rig up a battery pack to drive logs with and make them somewhat mobile (or at least not dependent on needing a wall wart). You need to fuck around with stems still, they're mostly bigger than the Solo (Heat Islands are pretty small though!). You mentioned not needing a desktop so logs are out of the question. Vapman is somewhat stealthy as a portable but does also require a torch lighter to operate. I know @OF is a fan of the Vapium Summit, he's always on point with his remarks and observations. I've used one a few times, not enough to report more than it looks like a great candidate for your situation.

Not work, but I had a single use requirement lately and it meant heading for the toilet while others went outside for nicotine, so I wanted to be done quick.
I chose the Solo and this is what I did.
Before I left, loaded the stem with caps in a tube, cleaned the Solo and ran it on full heat for a minute to reduce possible smell in the next step!
Then when the moment arrived. Turned on Solo before I left for bathroom so when I got there the thing was ready to heat the load!

I didn't have to worry about smell on heatup, the tube took care of other smells until ready to go, and lucky there was an extractor fan in the cubicle too.

A lot of vapes could not do this heating up with low smell while bowl is loaded.

Also @OF, well done for recommending another excellent looking unit for a good price to compliment the Solo! That 2.2 even got me excited and I wasn't looking.
Stock seems to be running low in places though.
Seeing as people mentioned a few well priced portables, but this is the Solo thread,
I'll put a list of portables that I was dreaming about, but I'll put them in quote tags so I don't get in trouble for non Solo talk!
I'll add the 3 desktops mentioned.
They are in order of price, highest at top lowest at bottom, without showing each price. The order may vary in your market. A list like this is good to decide what to spend.
It might help choose something for when the Solo is on charge!

Crafty
Pax 3
GH SS
Davinci IQ
Boundless CFV
Milaana
Pax 2

HerbalAIRE 2.2 (amazing this sits here for a desktop and what it appears to offer, even before you mention bags!?)

Solution = A second Solo.
I always kept two prior to the Raid... hopefully they will be home soon.
Last night I tried a first!
I have since the Solo release, been vaping at setting 4 (7 for concentrates rolled in cotton)
I use the Solo daily so that is MANY sessions at level 4.
Last night I tried my 1st ever load at setting 3.
I loved it!
I got just as thick of clouds, and the session was repeated twice.
The flavor was much "kinder" to the taste buds, and the essence was better.
The vapor lasted longer at 3 than at 4.
I may go back and forth between the settings, but 3 sure was a surprising treat!

When I have the time (and patience!) I love a good grind at level 2. The flavor is divine and you can get a solid two or three sessions out of a load depending on how much you hit it per session!

I still have trouble below 5, but that's ok. No biggie. I'm going to have to go to a head shop and get some non-aerosol air freshener, the natural citrus ones I like that Canadian Tire and Home Depot used to have aren't available anymore but I think are sold at outrageous prices in the head shop. A quick google says check Walmart, maybe all is not lost! :)

That doesn't mean it'll be in Canadian stores though.

For me....Temp use is dependent on what my session goal is. Concentrates and/or water use for me is an above level 5 kind of thing and I may start at 7 for one hit to heat soak the bowl before moving downward a notch.

On the dry, herbal side....
- Temps above 4 - I need a body and head high and I need it now.
- Temps at 4 and below - I just want to chill, enjoy the taste, session and let the high wash over me slowly.

EDIT: To those who say the Solo is not good at stealth....I agree to a point. On it's own the Solo isn't too stealthy. I've used the Solo by pulling the middle mouthpiece out of an average, cheap water bottle that was not see-thru and that allowed the glass stem to stick out of the top by about an inch. I've walked around in the open air at the beach, at road races before running the race, etc. Looks like I'm drinking my Gatorade, water, etc. I set the temp to 4 or 5 and drop the Solo into the water bottle, screw the water bottle top down and.... a way we go. There's just enough space in the water bottle to store the stem, with the stem cap on and Solo so it also acts like a carrier of sorts. Also the water bottle being plastic and flexible safeguards the glass stem.

To each his/her own....

Naw, yer in tall cotton and just don't know it. The stinky part of such 'natural' air fresheners is commonly available essential oils:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essential_oil

You can buy them in an amazing assortment of 'flavors' as soap, candle and cosmetic makers use them too:
https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&k...8&hvtargid=kwd-97050414&ref=pd_sl_zgj4lf088_b

A drop or two goes a long way. Some just put a drop on a light bulb, others use fancy diffusers:
https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/diffusers-accessories/tools

For a long time a candle powered one lived in my kitchen with a couple drops of lemon scent and handy lighter. Lots of fun. If you buy larger battles (intended for soap and candle makers), it gets really cheap.

You could also buy a second Solo and put one of those silly 'aroma cups' on it......that's what they're for, right?

Yo' fellow Soloists! Had a first. The circuit board on my 2014 Solo fritzed out. When turned on, the red LED starts blinking but yellows LEDs don't follow and oven doesn't heat. Figured it was battery, which I replaced. Wasn't battery, it's the circuitry. Have used dozens of Arizers -- Extremes, Airs, Solos. This is a first. No biggy! Just ordered brand new blacky from Randy @ PUI. Hope yo' all is staying healthy and doing well!
PS: I expect @OF will explain my bad circuit. :)

:)Ha ha, nope, this stuff is great and I'll find some eventually. My 2 solos don't have time for potpourri....
The 2nd solo I bought came with a little packet of lemon grass, so unlike most of them which are discarded mine will probably have a future in a curry.

The Solo inside the drink glass works with the straight stem. You don't even really notice how wide the stem is at a slight distance. You don't need to buy an adapter unless you want to. That is one of my fav ways to use my Solo at the beach. I stop at McDonalds on my way and get a large cup. Its tradition for me. Where's the Solo?

Here's inside the cup, with all my stuff in my bag. I use a neoprene drink holder to pad around the Solo so it doesn't move around as much inside.

That's the way I usually do it. I just found something else that works. For those of you with the Air stem with plastic mouthpiece. Just remove the mouthpiece and insert a plastic straw. Works great. For cool vapor you can forget the cup and just use it that way too. A lot cheaper than some other options. Attention @ataxian This may be harder to break.

I posted at http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/paying-it-forward-a-new-direction.13802/page-10#post-1049005 about a patient whose solo had bitten the dust via a bath in a glass of drinking water.
If you read the post you will see that I offered her a Solo to replace her Solo. ( but she would have had to wait maybe a week, and also she thought that she loved the "Air" better.)
After a full day with the Air, she called me and said she would like to have a Solo.... she confirmed that the Air had wonderful form factor, but said that she recognized a marked difference in the way the Air dropped heat during the first few hits, as opposed to the manner in which the Solo's oven is ready to rock sooner after it reaches temp.
Second Patient to inform me of this preference.
Air Vs. Solo ......
The Solo has won out 3 times out of 3 (oh, yes... I am the third vote!)
