I wouldn't worry too much about babying your cells wrt charge levels.

EXACTLY… use them till the device shuts down or gives you a low battery warning. Charge them fully to the lithium standard of 4.2 volts. And ENJOY vaping, instead of battery maintenance. They are cheap, available everywhere, so I consider them a consumable. Take it from someone that has never recovered from going down the battery science rabbit hole, though learning about battery SAFETY was important.

Not really on topic or even 420edc's fault, but my roffu looks like it will take 2 weeks at this rate to arrive to me :( USPS works in mysterious ways. Been ten days and it's still working it's way through various state's networks. Getting a little worried about it.

Seeing all this direct wpa action is torture!

Interesting to me and perhaps other capsule users from 420EDC article:

“Using the capsules makes drop in/out very simple with less maintenance needed for the filter screen that sits at the base of the mouthpiece assembly. Filter screen at the base of the mouthpiece can be removed when using the Dosing Capsules, we suggest keeping the silicon gasket installed to keep a proper seal between the body and mouthpiece.”

Taking my screen out …. Even less to clean….

About how long is the lifespan generally of a 18650 battery if given proper care?
You should get about 2 years of full-on performance without looking after them, after that, they do not just die, the capacity just slowly drops off.
I always buy LG HG2 or Sony VT6 as they can power just about anything with their high CDR (Continuous Discharge Rate) but next time I am going to try Molicel P28A as they are very highly regarded with an even higher CDR with only slightly less capacity than the others I (mentioned)
Anyways, THANKS for figuring out the direct glass path configuration, something they should advertise.
I just tried to add a review in the WPA listing in regards to a straight shot but was 'Blocked'
so I told my boss to add the info on the listing itself.

If using the WPA directly over the bowl, do you put a screen on top of the herb so it doesn't get sucked up into the wpa?

When I’m not using a capsule, the screen in the silicone gasket seems to work fine. Just make sure it’s seated properly. It gets junked up fairly quickly, but I QTip it with 190 ethanol after a few sessions, leaving it in place.

That rubber gasket directly above the bowl/tube in the cap of the roffu- Do I just press insert it so the raised smaller part pokes through the hole, or do I need to seat it on a rim with the indentation along the outside?

Does this taste/smell go away? Multiple burn offs and its still there.

Push it all the way up with your pinky finger, it will seat flush, and yes the smaller part ends up poking through. You’ll feel it with your finger. Can’t comment on smell or taste, I did a few burn offs and mine was fine.

I didn't experience any taste/smell issues and we're super sensitive to it. I noticed that silicone was involved and while I'm sensitive to smells/taste my wife is much more sensitive than I am so I went way overboard when I did the burn-offs/unpacking....... because once my wife is turned off to a vape its almost impossible to get her to change her mind. The following link shows the steps I used:

I swapped out the flat disc filter for a Ti mesh DDave DV screen and it rarely needs more than a brush to keep clear.

The smell will dissipate as the silicon finishes curing, @His_Highness link is a great bit of advice to speed the process if your unit is newer off the production line and has extra smells.

Thanks for the answers so fast, peeps! The smell/taste is from the heater itself, not any other part. I decided to send it and hope it goes away. It's less noticeable when vaping. Could just be that burn offs were cooking it so extremely that there were smells that wouldn't be released in normal use.

Obviously I need more than one night with this thing, but here are my initial thoughts:

420EDC

Absolutely stand up seller. I'm so pleased with this bundle, and all the extras, and the price. The roffu is a deal at the black friday price, and the carry box is going to be so clutch for holiday traveling (stealth and quick rips is the primary niche this fills that other vapes I have don't do so well).

420EDC even included a handwritten personalized note and a lego shovel (which I've wanted for a while). That was a really nice touch that I appreciate.

Roffu Good/Okay/Bad:

Good-

-Quality and presentation. It's a cut above what I'm used to from this group of companies. Much more "luxurious" and classy. Great fit and finish on all parts.

-Handfeel; ooooooh it feels good to hold. Good heft and chonk, but rounded and nicely weighted. Buttons feel tight and have good click. Everything fits together solid.

-Hidden stir tool is a nice touch, and stays in place well.

-On demand with dosing pods actually works well! Clouds off the first puff instead of having to get it going!!!

-Great screen with a good indication of status of on demand at a glance.

-Great mouthpiece shape. I wouldn't say no to a different shape, but this one works great and is low profile.

-WPA is actually not so bad. I haven't used it, but the design is more than ok and i like that it can accept a number of stems and rods and stuff I have around. I will probably make a ti insert for it this weekend for direct to glass action.

-Airbox is ingeniusly designed. I like the maze and how the cooling coil works.

-Vapor is very cool thanks to the above design. Very nice.

-Battery changes are a breeze. Seriously. You don't even worry that you are going to snap a door latch or have rattle like others. I haven't used internal charging but I'm sure that's fine.

-The minimal magnetic folding usbc cable included is heavy duty and nice. It's higher quality than olight ships with. Props on not cheaping out here.

Okay-

-Size/Weight. Wish it was a bit smaller and lighter for on the go pocket use. I have other vapes for that so it's not the end of the world.

-Button placement. Others have said this, and it's one of those things I have to position my hand especially for each time I use it since it's right next to the intake. Being a lefty is a win here, because I can use my non thumb fingers to actuate it. Would be better for this to be on the opposite side, or the intake somewhere else. Not a dealbreaker for me, because I can just grip it and actuate with a finger. I bet that gets easier, and the buttons are so tactile and nice that getting a definite press is easy.

-Running at 428F with capsules clearly works well. Gets full extraction. In a cold room. I'm worried that a cold day outside will harm this performance, which is where I'd be needing capsules. This is an untested worry, but I'd love an extra 20F on tap. Still, bravo on that heater output.

-Gimme more mouthpiece shapes to magnetize into place and for quick swaps!

Bad-

-Five clicks to turn on and off? Really?!

-Out of the box smell/taste from the heater. It's one of the worst I've come across. I understand this is a economical luxury vape, and that some things like burn offs should be expected to do yourself. But there are many vapes in this bracket that don't require a burn off or are designed in a way to not need it.

-No way to clean below the heater/full airpath. It's my age old complaint, and I knew I was making the sacrifice going into this. That said, it's negligent of manufacturers to keep doing this and I'll keep calling them on it forever.

Questions:

What is the plastic in the airbox? PEEK?

People say the edge/potv capsules work best in this, but I find them to have a gap on the sides vs the OEM capsule. Seems like this doesn't actually affect performance, but did I misread what capsules people like? I'd love to use the handful of caps I already have...

Summary:

XLUX knocked it out of the park on this one. My initial thoughts were "wow this is a good vape" and that didn't change as inspected/used it. I wanted this for a quick dip and rip when traveling, to toss in my backpack, that won't generate a ton of smell. It looks like it's going to be perfect for that, just in time for the holidays. Doubly so with this 420EDC case!

Do you feel like it was able to neutralize??

How's the fund it surprising for you to say there are many in this bracket that don't require burn off, in my experience most of its main competitors have the same issue?

Has anyone here gotten a Roffu delivered in the last week or so? Did it have any smell issues out of the box? (Besides the person who just posted about it.) Mine is supposed to arrive this Monday and I'm wondering if I should expect to have to take it apart and fully clean each piece as well as put it out in the wind and / or sun before use.

I swapped out the flat disc filter for a Ti mesh DDave DV screen and it rarely needs more than a brush to keep clear.

I was referring to the metal screen in the silicone top piece. The disc filter in the glass stem never seems to get dirty, but I usually QTip it with 190 ethanol. Of course, if using a capsule, you have to remove the stems “flat disc filter”, anyways.

That is because 3x clicks enters the Puff Count screen, a lot of ecigs use 5x clicks...still bit of a pain!
What is the plastic in the airbox? PEEK?
Yes, the vapor only travels over a small part of this, from the top of the CU seal until it gets to the cooling spiral that has a s/s sleeve. You can bypass it altogether with the new WPA/mouthpiece.
but I find them to have a gap
The V3Pro and Roffu caps seem to fit the best.
put it out in the wind and / or sun before use.
Only if you think it needs it but don't leave the LCD screen in direct sunlight for hours.

Sorry, when you referred to it as “flat disc filter”, instead of “screen”, I thought you meant what I would call the “disc”, in the load stem, not sure what the official terminology they use. Regardless, I’ll check to see if I have one of DDaves, or I could cut one from a NV titanium screen.
Thanks!

Wow, 2 years lifespan before any drop off?! Okay, that's nice! That's without even taking particularly good care of them (running them to empty every time or some of the time)?

Any outside climates that I should avoid using it in or does that not matter? ? At no point soon do the batteries age enough to become a danger or need to be disposed of, unless the battery wrapping gets ripped or something, right?

Is there anything that could happen to watch out for while using the device? As in, cationary things that are particular to this device or battery portable vapes in general? Batteries exploding? I've been so used to the simplicity of the SSV that I'm a little leary of portable now after all these years.

:rockon:My roffu is supposedly arriving today and I'm so excited!!! It's literally been over a decade since I've bought a new piece (I've just been using the SSV this entire time).

I swapped out the flat disc filter for a Ti mesh DDave DV screen and it rarely needs more than a brush to keep clear.

I would very much like to order this better screen then and so that I'd have extras.

Do you have a link to the correct DDave screen for the roffu? I searched on the site but it seems there's a few. Is it this one? https://www.ddavemods.com/store/p86/VapCap_Mesh_Screen_Replacements.html

Even that can be fixed cheaply, re-wrap and shrink with a hair dryer if damaged.
Is it this one?
That is what I use, the V3P WPA and straight shot glass mouthpiece both use a mesh now instead of that disc filter from the factory.
Some may like the plate due to it adding a little bit of conduction, options are nice!

I'll just be using the stock MP. Will that screen work with that? I thought the screen that you switched out was the one in the glass bowl? Am I mistaken? What's the difference between the stainless steel and ti version, just taste? The link I posted says it's for a Dynavap but that will still fit in the roffu...?

Some people can taste the difference, I find the Ti is a bit stiffer and may last longer than me. This is for the filter disc in the cooling unit, not the oven.
Also, the listing is for Dynavap but they also happen to fit the Roffu CU nicely, for the price I would get both and see if you can tell any difference between s/s and Ti.

I was just on the 420EDC site, saw the “disc filter”, still being sold, now I understand what you have been referring to. I assume the early models had the “disc filter”, mine came with the wire screen, which I assume is stainless steel.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but...what is the Roffu "CU"? Oh, does CU mean coil unit or...no? Just a wild guess.

I'll be using the stock mouthpiece on a regular Roffu. I just dont want to order the screens and then not have them fit.

Cooling unit actually...

Mesh screen is easier to keep clean and goes longer without clogging, flat screen with holes (often called machined or punched screen) clogs up on you faster is all...

By the way instead of posting back to back, you can quote, then insert quotes, to reply to multiple people in one post
