Yesterday i got my Starry v3 delivered. Luckily the oven is in perfect condition, but sadly, it smells as much as my v2. I used 3 full batteries at max temp for burn offs (i let it cool down between sessions). I washed the oven with iso, also the mouthpiece (the mouthpiece 3 times, with iso and dishwashing soap), and there is still a noticeable smell/taste, probably from the silicone.
I've decided to use it anyways, and the nasty smell gets masked fast by the herbs. But: I am still a smoker, so i am not very taste sensitive. If you are, you probably need more than 3 batteries for burn offs.
I put degummed hemp fiber inside the new mouthpiece filter, this makes the vapor very very smooth, even at higher temps. This also makes the draw resistance higher, so it is more like sucking on a cigarette. And it keeps the mouthpiece much cleaner. The hemp fiber is gathering all the good stuff i usually wash away from the mouthpiece. You can vape the hemp fiber (and the gathered good stuff) afterwards, so nothing gets wasted. Hemp fiber should be heat resistant up to 240 °C.
Comparing the v3 with the v2, the new mouthpiece does not sit as perfect on the body as the v2 mouthpiece, but the new filter works way better (you can use the old filter without the ceramic part and use a screen instead to imitate the new filter). I don't notice any differences in the vapor, airflow or heat development. But the battery lid fits better than the v2.
There are 2 short silicone tubes in the v3 package, are they for use on the mouthpiece with other people for hygienic reasons? The manual does not mention the tubes...
