Discontinued VRIPtech Heating Wand

It's one of the best connoisseur vapes I have come across. Great taste and a big old bowl so you can pack a lot in there for a big punch if you want. It's what I use when I want to treat myself!

@ataxian thanks!

@stickstones So it may not be the best choice for a daily driver? Do you consider it more of an occasional use tool?

Is this the correct website? http://www.vriptech.com/mm5/merchant.mvc

$199.00 is pretty much inline with other wand type vapes. Is it ready to go out of the box? Are there add ons I should consider?
I wonder it compares to the Galaxy Vortex?

Hmm................

I have the Vortex and the VHW and they are both great in their own ways. The VHW is one of my fav vapes ever and the taste is unbeatable. The ability to disconnect the wand any time makes it the ultimate "smoking a bowl" replacement (outside of torch vapes) as you have full control over how you roast your herb. The vortex is hands-free which is more convenient in groups but the glass does get stuck together at times. Both are very heavy hitters. VHW is cheaper though! :p

Is the heating element okay if the light only turns on when the dial is set low? It gets hot but then when the dial is turned up the light flickers and stops. Is that normal?

flickering means it is heating up and stabilizing. The light should be on at both low and high temps.

Thanks family for holding the forum down always a blessing to have the love of knowledge shared! I'm wrapping up another epic grow season top of the world Santa Cruz mountains so will be around more through the winter and pick back up on some R&D projects that where paused this summer.

I need to fall on my "vaporware" sword a little bit we scrapped our protonail insert plans because after so many prototypes just not working better than just simply putting a dab on some cotton or hemp fiber or glass wool in the regular bowl it didn't seem to make any sense...the level of precision to get the tight tolerances we need to actually get the melty melty to condense the way we all want just isn't sustainable in a production environment.

But just when I thought glass wool was as good as Vripping concentrates would get I got an email from a client who was very, very excited to share what he had discovered: he could use the VHW as a heated carb cap on his 20mm bucket and it allowed him to dab at around a 100F lower temperature and still get the same or similar melt rate. Low Temp Dabs....yeah I thought that was the fucking coolest concept I'd heard in awhile so started playing with it and I'll be damned if I can't get a "flash" vaporization process started and maintained at 470-520F using an enail or a torch to a 20mm bucket or banger with the VHW seated on top after the dab dropped giving a vortexing heated vacuum even with a half ass seal at best....sooooooo I've now moved on and evaluated the three top US made enails and a handful of the top US made quartz buckets and bangers and have a whole new approach to low temp flash vaporization of concentrates coming along folks...call it the "two plug dab" as Jason King does (I recently demo'd the concept to him while he was on layover in SF on his way home to Maui --- the only guy perhaps more of a flavor snob than I actually loved it) or as I prefer simply call it: low temp dabs.

Quartz fabrication of a new prototype that could be torched or would be compatible with most 20mm ecoils and will enable a perfect seal is now underway. That said, if you already have a VHW and also take dabs with an enail or a standard torched bucket or banger that is of the common 20mm size you may be able to fake it with even an imperfect seal. Why didn't I think of that sooner? Probably because I mostly just melt my flowers and want to taste at least 2-3 Vrips a session I can't last long enough with oils! All the R&D has been driving my tolerances up.

Reijuojuejiavohykuij if your red light is turning off while the wand is at full heat and not coming back on something is wrong for sure...please send it in for repair first send info@vriptech.com a message and sort with ShadowVape if it is under warranty (one year) or a paid repair ($30). If it cycles back on then off then on at a slower or faster rate depending upon ambient temp and usage rate and is glowing orange and getting plenty hot than that is normal...the red light just indicates that it's cycled on --- perfectly normal as StickStones pointed out to cycle on and off during usage once it is heated all the way up. If it stays on solid after being heated up (normal to be solid while heating up) you're running it really hot (hybrid smoke/vapor temps) and it's cold in the room or you've got a thermo couple problem that should be solved with an element replacement service.

Sad day, I packaged my Vrip and sent it to another good home!

It is one of the better vape I ever experienced but since my child and my job I wasn't able to use it enough. I still recommand it as the best flavorfull heavy hitter, definitly a beast!

I got it from a Canadian member and he is going back to another Canadian member, the circle is closed!

I'm with you @lazylathe I miss it like crazy, like some of our other nostalgic vapes that have moved on. The good thing is (and you know how experienced I am lazylathe!) is that when it does come back into your life, it's like a brand new vape all over again!

I'll own the VHW again soon one day, I put it up there with all the other connoisseur level vapes like the Herborizer!

Vriptech is also the coolest company i've ever had the pleasure of dealing with, both Mark and Shadowvape completely kick ass! Best support i've ever received from a company......

I just wish this vape wasn't so underrated and this community was a bit more buzzing!

Looking forward to that new VHW that is more robust! Mark is that project still moving forward? Prototype?

I have officially switched to team VripTech.

What an amazingly unique vaporization tool. I currently have the VHW paired with the 18mm VCB into the Bub beaker/downstem combo. The VripTech engineered glass offers a most noticeable synergistic vaporization experience. I'm hooked.

I love the form factor of the beaker in my hand and the thin connoisseur-like sipping mouthpiece. The addition of an OGB mouthpiece is equally as nice. Coming from a non-combustion background, I 'm not on the hunt to replace any lung-busting voluminous pulls through an iced piece. I appreciate sipping, tasting, indulging, and experiencing my floral investment. The beaker itself is a preferred size and adjustable enough to accommodate a variety of handheld configurations. I value this immensely as I suffer from "gamekeeper's thumb" - an old injury that has never been repaired - great for party tricks but poor for glass holding.

Heat control with the VHW is on point and very accurate. The newer black seal is preferred. Heat up time is non-existant as I leave it on lowest setting while away.

My wallet wishes I had come to team Vriptech earlier in my VAS experience. However, with that said, I don't think I would have appreciated to the same degree had I not cut my teeth on many (now displaced) hard working friends:

PAX1
Epicvape EV-2 (x3 of them each one tuned to a different heat/purpose)
Alfa Goboof (best tasting portable to date)
Milaana - over hyped
Ti Grasshopper (cop lights after 89 days - in for repair)
Aromed 4.0 (with recreation bowl)

The only unit I did not include in my list is the Vapman. I use multiple Vapman with the SS screen exclusively for hashish. I have yet to find a comparable controlled setup.

Go team VripTech!

Happy you love it!

I decided to let it to go cause my new (and expensive) Herborizer Ti..although I need to confess the Vrip was maybe slightly better in term of taste....

When money will be not an issue anymore I'll buy another wand!

Meet my sipper...

Had some time to myself today and raided the glass/adapter stash to test various setups for ultimate taste configuration....Settled on below.

(top to bottom) OGB mouthpiece into shorty Milaana stem - coupled via silicone into long Milaana stem into Vrip Bub Bubbler.

Source side: VHW > VCB > OGB carb adapter >18mm-14mm > Vrip downstem.

All taste. No waste...Just glass.

That is a sweet sipper rig Splitz it must condense the skim milk blue rather nicely! Is that a side car carb too? Function video please.

Thanks for the props and circle of life story PPN and lazylathe nice to know we still get around even though it's not me getting around like the good ole days.

Biohacker good question thanks for keeping us on it. We did make a couple protos of a next gen VHW cover including one with a quartz inner cover that was really trick, but ran into some tooling and tolerance challenges in how we would ramp production of the piece and amongst other things I've been sidetracked with the overwhelming demand for a pure oil rig so I'll come back to it soon. Shortly though I'll post some pics/vids of the quartz banger that flares to a spherical interface so you can use a non-thermal cyclonic vacuum "carb cap" we're developing or the VHW itself as a thermal cyclonic vaccuum carb cap --- either way we're now dabbing straight oil/wax/shatter/rosin at just slightly above the temps at which we vaporize flowers thanks to optimized flow form physics and thermal dynamics (so little to no thermal degradation like virtually every other dab rig or pen I've ever seen except for the VapeXhale when used lower temp with their oil inserts). So efficient it's insanse. If you've been dreaming for ultra low temp dabs that actually condense and deliver flavor country and a ripful of satisfaction without that heat in the chest heavy weight on the chest the next day drawback get ready to live the dream. It will be compatible with a 16mm ecoil (I like the mini nail from Seattle) for as Jason King one of the few to play with a proto calls it the "two plug dab" or a torch.

Sorry it took so long family!

We are not worthy, we are not worthy!

We miss you Shadow (I presume you are Mark?) So great to see you get on here to represent.
The competition across the market is hotting up! I am personally very interested in owning a VHW soon. But Im not totally decided yet out of the VHW and the new Herborizer Ti, which is a significant upgrade on the original Herborizers.

People talk about the VHW and original Herbos in the same breath, and this alone suggests that the new Herbo is in another class, as it puts the XL firmly into storage according to reports.

I suspect the VHW will be the best vape for my allergies and sensitive lungs. If the Herborizer Ti was all glass, I would choose it for its ease of use, durability, reliablility, and seemingly enormous power.

Also there is virtually no air restriction at all which I prefer to a tight, restrictive air path. I have excellent breath control so can adjust my pull for vapor formation.
However, the reports of the Herborizer Ti are that it doesnt matter how you inhale the vapor is always monstrously thick.

If I didnt have any concerns about breakage and costly replacements, I would be much more decided on the VHW, largely on health grounds with the premise that the neutral polarity may benefit my allergies to weed and vapor when I vaporize.

But also, I like to be up with the new "hip thing", the best of the best etc. What realy strikes me on this forum, is how so many knowledgable seasoned vaporists have completely abandoned the VHW and never even mention it, while their line ups include all the big new names which they rave about every day.

I wonder why they show such little interest in going in the VHW direction again. Maybe it is just ease of use and durability.
I wonder if they could have the hits and the vapor the VHW delivers,,with the ease and durabikity of the other units, would they rate it alongside the top heavy hitters?

I will be formulating some specific questions for the community here to help me make a decision between the 2 vapes, hopefully to understand a bit better why the VHW gets so little mention and interest by the majority of vapor pros chasing the best vapor experience and high.

Ps. I wish I lived in cali Mark then I could come and visit you one day and try the wand for myself in the most excellent company I have no doubt. Huge respect, keep it up!

Almost there...
Excited to be re-joining this family again!
Sold the first one and have found one for sale locally bought from mark himself!

This time it is an upgraded wand with a better heater? Not sure about this but will see once item is in hand. Possibly version 3.0.
It also comes with the water tool, which is awesome!!

Picking this baby up on Sunday morning in Ottawa!
Sunday night she will be heating bowls in Hamilton!

@Alexis

I think it may be an aesthetics thing and some preconceived notions about the wand.
I have heard from people that it is just a soldering iron with a glass front.
This is quite true from just merely glancing at the wand but once you get down and actually inspect the wand you will see that it is from from that!
It's fragile, yes but just be careful! Accidents happen but if you want pure heated air, this vape will deliver just that! Numerous other vapes do the same thing, this one is just different.

I see it as a tool for vaporization as it was intended. It may be the second cousin of the ugly duckling, which happens to be my Supreme 3 in this case, but it is no slouch in the flavor and vapor department!

I would love to see a small digital display incorporated into the handle, utilizing a thermocouple in the heater, to give repeatable sessions. And digital is just cool!! This would also bring it into the 21st century looks wise. Hint hint...LOL!!! @ShadowVape

I really do have my heart set on the Wand. I was indeed a bit curious about members including yourself who have been around all of the vapes and seemed not to be at all interested in the VHW anymore.

The fact that you are now re-acquiring it speaks up for it, seeing as you have a superb arsenal of heavy hitters already and appear to be quite happy and excited for the VHW.

I will be very keen to lnow what you make of the water tool, which one it is. I know @biohacker went off the Vriptech water tools due to them being too draw restrictive. I totally respect his views, I am not a huge fan of tight draw.

But I will be interested to hear how you find the water tools yourself.
Ideally before I get a Vrip I should wait and see how this years outdoor harvest goes, it is my only supply (due to allergies to virtually all fertilisers in weed, even organic).

So I can never just vape and keep vaping for the fun of it. I try not to go over half gram a day.
I would like to not be restricted by limited weed if I had the wand, that would be cruel!

But that aside, I am in a real dilemna about the right setup and water tool for me. Largely because of Biohackers feelings about the Vrip water tools.
If draw restriction was no concern I would probably get the PerK, but maybe I would prefer a water piece with less drag.

And then the question of 14 or 18 mm? I respect Mark and the team hugely, and take on board their opinions and philosophy. They strongly encourage 14 mm for better vapor flow.

So if I decided not to get the Vrip water tool, I will debate the joint size for bowl and alternative watr piece.

Expect some OCD Q's to come, community!

Don't just go by my feelings dude, most people love the water tools! I'm just an odd duck! :freak:

If you don't try to "overpower" the water tool you will be fine... I have massive lungs and take huge hits, and just find them fatiguing. I'm more of an 18mm one perk tall can bent neck kinda duck. See, odd! :D

Looking forward to testing out the vrip with lazylathe! It's been a while.... the flavour of the VHW is something else!
