I had seen somewhere a setup where someone was using a glass piece that could accept the solid valve mouthpiece and running vapor through it for water diffusion. I used to own a Volcano for about 5 years until I went to one of the newer vapes made for use with water. My buddy still owns a Volcano and he would love to find out more about that kind of setup if anyone knows what I am talking about!

I can use one bag a month but everyone is different. I bought the easy valve & love it, wasn't until I went to purchase fresh bags & saw the price difference that I kinda regretted my choice. Either I didn't know or didn't care when I bought it but the solid valve is cheaper in the long run, other than that they're both great.

Hi can anyone help please? I've had my volcano for a week now and loving it! 
I have been trying to find a thread on the best way to pack the volcano bowl easy and solid valve? How much to put in? Do you pack the chamber down or just put it in loose? Half full or full chamber? What grind is best? I've also been putting a little sprinkle just covering the gauze then plop the liquid pad on top to stop the herb from blowing about in there! Seem to get about 3nice bags from that way! Any help would be appreciated, thanks

The following only pertains to the solid valve: I sprinkle material into the chamber, anywhere from just enough to cover the screen, up to 2/3 full of the chamber. It gets less efficient the more you put in, at least for me, personally.
The top screen acts like a plunger. My habit is to depress the knurled 'stick' until the top screen contacts the herb, although even the act of attaching the bag will push the plunger down, if you didnt seat it fully.

i did the same, and they sent a replacement piece as well. they were friendly about it, points there.
but it didn't fix the problem. i've noticed that it leaks the most when the bowl hasn't been cleaned in a while. If there is a lot of tree or resin build up around the top o ring.
when its freshly cleaned it may not leak, but sometimes it still does. it's random and frustrating.
the leak isn't technically coming from those slits, but where the metal tube hits the other piece. it does however pass through the slits.
i've found that taking a piece of saran wrap, folding it to be about 3 inches wide and 6 inches long and tightly wrap that around the slits there is NO LEAKING.
but it's a pain in the ass to do that every time.

I've always followed S&B 's instructions (1-10mm). The max I put in the solid valve would be a thickness of 1cm of finely ground bud. No packing. I get about 6-7 bags of thick vapor like this. I've never felt the need to use more. Besides once you go over this point, it's less efficient, and you'd just be wasting your precious medication.

Yes you can leave it on for a few hours. It takes awhile to heat up and I would probably sell mine if I had to wait for it to heat up for every bag

People I know, including myself have left theirs on overnight, on more than one occasion and never had an issue. That said, I wouldn't make it a habit, I just turn it on for a sess, and turn it off when I'm done.

After years of eyeing it, I finally picked a volcano up the other day. Needless to say, the past 48 hours of my life have been rather pleasant.

The Digital Volcano does shut itself off.
One can use a light timer with the analog unit for shutoff if they wished.
From room temperature (approx 70º) that would take the unit 307 seconds to reach 377º (my favorite vape temperature)..
That is 5 minutes.
5 minutes can be a long time if wanting to medicate right now!
I generally take a preliminary hit from my SSV (on 24/7) to kill a minute while the Volcano gets up to temp.

Your post made me realize that I've used my Cano practically everyday for 3 years and I've never timed how long it takes to heat up. It's never bothered me, as I take that time to clean the oven and pack a new one.
My go to temp is a '6' on my classic which is about 374, so not far off. The room temp was 71. Time 4:24, not bad...

When I shine a flashlight into the volcano
(shining it at just the right angle through the yellow control button and looking into the volcano through the screen at the top of the cone)
I notice a thick layer of "dust" on the floor of the internal base.
Now this volcano is less than a year old and has been sitting in the middle of a fastidiously cleaned living room, and it's already got that, gross. I also replace the filter sponge on the bottom and clean that area relatively often .
Now I'm assuming/hoping that a lot of this dust I'm seeing inside is NOT coming in contact with the path into the bag.. But I really have no idea, I've never inspected the inside of the volcano. Anyone have any info / thoughts on this?
But as for cleaning this dust up; two things come to mind, but being that this is kind of an expensive piece of equipment, I don't want to leap into either of them without consulting you pros on this issue first.
1.) Seemingly very risky, probably a definitely don't do.. Open the volcano and clean it up. I see the screws, it seems easy enough to do. The only question is.. is it easy to put back together.. and will I more than likely just fuck up the entire vaporizer by taking it apart. Probably.
2.) Take a shop vac and put it on the top of the cone and just vacuum it out. haha probably the most sensible.
Anyone have thoughts on this issue?

The dust does not come from under the machine... where the filtered airflow is achieved.. That space under the Volcano does not get settled ambient dust... it is clean.
TRhe dust inside comes from above.
I shined a light in a year old Volcano that has seen daily use, and it looks as clean as the inside of a NASA laboratory.
Use the new Volcano "Capper", and I guarantee a clean machine!

Just read an article on VXL, and saw this and wanted to know if there was any truth to it? I always knew there was some aluminum in the Cano, but never enough to warranty any concern.
