The glass stem is a 9mm Vapolution straight bowl. Got me a set of four for about 5,- €. Inner diameter is about 7mm. Bit on the narrow side (great for microdosing, though). So I thought f*ck it and added a 12mm/9mm high temp medical grade silicone sleeve with a screen, as a roasting tube, which fitted the Alternate's bowl.
Never realized that you could actually do that with silicone (putting it straight into the oven), until I saw the HI log using silicone stems/roasting tubes too. Flavor is still outstanding and clouds are heavy, though.
I've a fitting 12mm all glass stem sitting in me desk drawer, but need to get some tools first to shorten it a bit and for softening the edges.

got 2 alternates and i like it alot and use it alot!
But today i found oil or something visible at the airflow near the air intake!
No resin!
I saw this oil before i have used it with full bowls and before i did burnoffs!
I took my stir stick and looked if I can get some from the oil on it.
(Air flow fully closed)
But it looked like it wouldn't get off and get on the stick and how the oil gloss shine wouldn't change so I couldn't paint in it.
This made me thinking the shine/gloss comes from the plastic injection mold of the manufacturer.
But now I registrated that the oil get off!!!
So I ask anybody!
Do you know what a oil is used for the air flow?
Is it healthy and safe?
Is it salad oil or is it WD40 or something like that?
Please help me to find out!
I will ask VIVANT and PLANETVAPE too.
Anybody here who can imagine that the cracks over the battery are coming from the hot battery contact spring?
If you look at randy's torn apart there is no Isolation between the spring and the plastic.

The "oil" i have seen near the air flow is vaseline. It used to make the airflow adjust smoother.

Is it normal that the alternate doesn't hold the setted temperature after the "beeps"?
If I pull a few times after it is ready at 200°C and stop the timer by myself or even after timecycle it shows me for example only 190°C, some degrees under the setted temperature.
So is it normal?
My Sony VTC 4s looks really original and they all weigh a lil bit over 45 gramms!
So I think my batteries are holding the voltage even at 20-30 ampere.

When you're drawing hot vapor from the unit the oven will cool down causing the temperature to drop.
You're right but I noticed that my swift pro stays better on setted temps.
BUT even with this i like the alternate more!!!

Hi folks, last spring i bought Alternate from heaven gifts on DHgate it has been used as a daily driver most time. Since i had mouthpiece problems from very beginning i get from heaven gifts second Alternete set as a replacement, with top cap v2. It was stored in my cabinet most time untouched, my first alternate got @dtaxx crafty top mod and been used slightly normal if we consider handling unit, i mean i didn't treat like a egg but not throwing as well. I ordered top cap v3 from heaven gifts for a this second stored one
And i called him for service since my first one got slightly decomposed, i think i helped him a bit because of this crafty mod, but that what i was telling from start, great design cheap materials seems to bit tested after this year together.
I've seen @PPN if i remember correctly wrote he will keep heater from alternate for some different shell, and i think i will do that to, because its vaping like a champ.

Yes mine broke exactly on the same spot. I still not tried to "rebuild" it cause I found a trick to get it back to the job, 5cm of glass tube from a broken 18mm stem, a Vrip silicon seal (a sort of large and thick high temp o-ring) and a bit more of silicon to get the glass tube to fit the Vrip o-ring. The whole assembly fits very well on the top of the bowl, I add a screen in the bottom glass tube. This is look very nice (I'll post a pic later) and works very well but it seems I get slightly less dense clouds... idk if it's cause a larger airflow or cause there is some leaks which dilute the vapor.
The rebuild would be the best but it's too late now.... maybe next winter when I'll get more time!

Hey guys, long time vaper, first time poster. Just wanted to share what has become my most favorite way to use the Alternate.

I had the Crafty silicone waterpipe adater from Delta3DStudios and the glass mouthpiece off my Fury 2 laying around so I threw this together. The glass bowl sits in the Alternate but does not touch the sides. It hits hard and smooth, is great for small amounts, and it won't fall apart after a few months. You also have the option of pushing the glass back in and using the full bowl in the Alternate. Not very cheap at around 40 bucks for both pieces. I'm going to stop ordering MPs and just keep it like this for around the house use.

They both fit out of the box no modding needed.
My WPA has a glass nipple on it's side to prevent it from rolling off tables. I've seen peoples' with it and without. It doesn't slide in deep enough with that nipple.

At this late juncture in time, I have a report.
Since the post referred to here...
... I have been sent the upgraded top, then the upgraded top piece with the metal lip, and I have a 3rd mouthpiece.. the final version.
All together that is 4 mouthpiece/cooling units if you count the original.
Many members had issues and complaints.
I wish to report that I still have never even opened the 3 upgraded and re-upgraded tops.
I still use my unit about 4-5 time a week... still at 390º to 400º.
I do not do more than 2 back to back sessions, and my unit and top have still no signs of melting, cracking or wear.
I am still pleased with my Alternate!

I'm still a happy user.... Even tho I recently purchased a solo II.... I have no complaints about the Alternate .... Great vapor.... Taste... Etc...... The only knock would be the cracking on plastic above the housing of batteries.
If @Vivant .. Would come out with a Alternate 2 with better plastic housing.... Even if they used the same casing as the Fenix/Fury. . I think it would be a hit
