I Grinding fine should I do a more coarse grind
i use a medium to coarse grind and don't pack it too tight, you want it full and kinda tight but like just one push down with your finger kinda tight not like super tamped down. There's a good amount of convection with the alternate so airflow is a factor. Try a medium- coarse grind and pack the chamber loosely full and then just push down with your thumb lightly so the herb is packed in there but not tamped down to much.
Good luck, some of my strains don't give me as dark of abv as other in some convection style vapes. This vape has conduction, but not so much that it's just gonna cook through whatever is in the chamber until anything is dark like some. Convection vapes can give you light abv that is fully extracted.

Sorry I had to edit my post because I accidentally had copied and pasted something from another post over.

Had a couple sessions but failing to get fat clouds. Getting effect and light vapor. I feel like it's not getting heat through to my load cause avb is not very dark. I've packed it full and also half with concentrate pad. Also tried all levels of sir flow. Can anyone help me get fatter rips of thing.

This might be a no-brainer... but what temperature are you using the alternate at? Also how long are your draws?

@kaisersosay415 your draw speed seems fine... maybe pull a little harder to get more convection? Also, for maximum vapor production, i recommend longer draws; 20 seconds or so. Furthermore if you increase the temp your visible vapor production will increase with the temperature.

I have a couple of questions for experienced users about time. I have mine set for 3 minutes. The body gets pretty warm. Is that usual? Because I think that if I set it for 5 minutes it would get pretty hot.
Also just curious- if I set it for 60 seconds would it be more like an on demand vape so I can just start it up when I want to use it and turn it off between hits?

Saw this vape at Efun , a site I use to buy ecigs. After contacting @Vivant a representative let me know they aren't an authorized vendor so I went to Vivants site and bought one off there.

I was skeptical about this thing until I read the specs and then saw @Vape Dr. 's amazing breakdown of the device! You rock dude thank you for helping everyone here and always coming up with awesome mods for your vapes!

Can't wait to give this thing a try :)

I use the timer for 2 minute sessions, but even when I have used it for 5 minutes it only gets as hot as it gets after like 2 or 3, so that level of heat is about as hot as the device gets, at least IME. 2 minute sessions usually extract just about everything and I can bump the temp for a few more hits or just dump it. One minute sessions are nice for at home because as you said, you can totally just do one 60 second session and then have another later without having to repack. It's also nice to do 60 seconds and change the temp. I prefer 2 for on the go so I can just turn it on and not have to do anything else but hit it.

Cheers.

We were worried that people would accidentally leave the device on without a shut off timer, and of course didn't want the device to get to hot. For us, the one min timer with option to reset made sense. We have quickly found that our initial thought was wrong, and we needed to test everything again to make sure the firmware upgrade isn't going to cause any new issues before we released it to everyone else.

As far as glass attachments go..... I would love to give you a resounding yes! but I'm not 100% sure if we will for the Alternate. We for sure have a lot of fun projects in the works across the board, so you will see glass and quartz options in the future.
A glass mouthpiece would be a great improvement to vapor quality.
Yay my order from dhgate has been shipped. :leaf:
Will Vivant warrant your unit?

From my understanding this is an hybrid convection vaporizer..my question is for ownerrs or people who have tried it..does this unit cook or give off vapor when not in use? similar to a conduction unit..or does this function more like on-demand convection units.Debating on this or FW

There seems to be no way to turn this thing off mid-session. You have to wait for it to time out. There should be a way to do this. You might realize the load is spent after 1 hit and want to dump it, or change the temp, so why waste the battery counting down to off?

@little maggie i think we both got ours from the same batch at PIU. mine also had a real bad smell that wouldn't quit. I finally did hi temp burn offs with a cool hairdryer blowing on the open bowl for an hour, and that helped a lot. Now I only get that smell at higher temps when the load is pretty well extracted. Then I seem to smell the vape rather than its contents...

You can turn it off mid-session, just press and hold the power button for a few seconds.

Does not work for me. Holding it just went to heat and then turned off heat. Had to go through the time but I had just turned it down to 2 minutes.
The box came with a start up card and the rest of the manual is online or in a pdf. I would like to see a card with the button instructions easily handy. Like press and hold power button until beep to turn on heat or (which I just noticed but haven't tried) press the power button 5 times to turn it off. I can make a list of these myself but I'd like one to come with it.

Yeah, if you want to completely turn it off in the middle of a session, first hold power to turn off heat, then click five times quickly to turn off. But there's hardly ever a reason to turn it off completely, turning the heat off is where you'll see any battery savings. The screen being on for a few minutes won't drain the battery much at all.

Nothing as of now, but you aren't the first person to ask so we have some things were are kicking around. Anything specific you had in mind?
I haven't caught up on this thread yet, so I don't know if you got s reply, but here's my :2c:.

The benefits of selling extra top caps partly depends on maintenance needs, frequency, and ease (or difficulty). By comparison, I found Crafty cu maintenance to be a PIA, and like others purchased a couple extra cu's. That way, I can clean multiples at once and always have a clean one in the wings to swap out.

Can anyone report on maintenance ease and needs?
