Multi-brand Vivant Alternate

Not in my experience. I agree, the Zeus are just rebranded FM, but at the time I bought it (about a year ago...maybe??) they were both the same general price of $159. I know you can now get an FM Pro for less, but at the time that's what it was.

I never really warmed up to that vape, tell the truth, and I donated it to a fella who works with indigent MMJ patients and he provides them with donated stuff. Good use for it.

Word I'm just saying they rebrand flowermate and the fenix and then put down other companies materials, I have unboxed and used 3 different fenix vaporizers and I can tell you, they off gass a bit and they smell a little like robot fart at first; my alternate did not and did not offgass either. there was an FC member who tore apart a fenix and it has many materials that I'm sure are safe but they are things like tape and plastics and glue I don't want in a vape if I can't avoid it.. the alternate is clean as hell on the inside, look at @Vape Dr. Post or the tear down on PUI..

it looks safer than just about any other unit I've seen. I just have a hard time believing anything their reviews say when they are refcomending a fenix as the best vape.. like if they we're doing the same and reccomending the mighty it would still be lame.. but not so damn obvious as to what they are doing; reccomending the fenix rebrand shows me bias and also dishonest business practices.

Like go look at their "utillian 720" review, it's a fenix and they say a lot about it that isn't true, including and don't quote me here because I saw this a couple months back so it could be changed but before it said their utillian - fenix was a pure convection vape.. so if they say that how can I trust anything they say about the alternane or any other vape.

Hate the taste of my Pax 2 so I think I sell it and order an Alternate off of DHGate... if money wasn't so tight I'd buy from PIU. But if I'm impressed (which I'm sure I will be) then I'll definitely be a Vivant customer in the future.

Any idea if other dry herb pods (flowermate, odin or boudless) fit this unit?

I'm currently using flowermate pods in Xmax Pro V2.

I suggest you ask Vivant and Randy at Puffitup. Vivant can tell you about the measurements of the herb chamber.

Randy (if he has any "free" time) could take different brands of pods and check to see what does and does not fit/work.

I don't want to pile onto Toronto Vaporizer, but I had a "story" with them too. There were a few accessory items I wanted to buy and purchasing them from Canada would be a discount. I am not in North America at all. I was on Toronto vape site, but then in the middle of my transaction they wanted US dollars.

Got to the point where you pay and I realized all the prices were now in US dollars. I consider such things to "bait and switch" Show the Canadian prices and then charge the USA charges.

That was the last time I even considered buying from them. Puffitup is my first choice, but there are many accessories that only PlanetVape.ca has

If they are, are Alternates bought "gray market" firmware upgradeable ? Or does Vivant note the serial numbers and not upgrade if not bought from authorized dealer (e.g. Puffitup.com)?

I have one on the way from Randy, but a $60 is a GREAT deal even if it has no warranty. Maybe a gift?

I bought mine from PIU and had it three days later.

My experience...I detected a very faint plastic odor on first and second heat-up -- never any taste at all -- and the smell dissipated and completely disappeared after the third session.

Just got mine! Popped in an already charged battery, turned it on and played with the airflow switch. Couldn't wait, just started hitting it right away. Forgot to do any burn off's. First impression: lovely! Airflow is a dream . Trying to get the hang of the buttons.


I'm trying to update the firmware but my Mac doesn't see it, Have tried a few different cables but it still is not detecting the Vape. I'm on OS X 10.9.5.

I thought that people had reported getting clones from China that were not the same quality or had different innerds. Is that the exception?

Anyway mine arrived today from PIU. I have to wait a few days to try it until my wheeze goes away.

Charging questions: Trying to read the battery info. most of my batteries say 18650 3.7v 2500. As best I can read the one that came with the vivante say something different. Will those work with the vivante or does it need a different kind of battery?
Also I started to charge the battery in my charger and then read that it should be in the vape when charging so I now have it attached to my computer. Does that really matter? The charger is much quicker.
And finally is there some kind of unboxing video that goes through all the parts? I've read the manual from the website and it's not as helpful as I'd like.
I might try it with water once it's charged before I take a break for my lungs to recover.

I had the same concern but just decided to try it out. I had some 18650's from my old Cera and tried those in my Alternate and they worked great then I tried charging the Vivant battery with my Tynergy charger and it charged just fine.

I think that the alternate draws 20 amps, but am not sure. You could google the name of the batteries you have (if you know it), or the serial number printed on them to find out their constant ampage. I am not 100% knowledgeable on battery safety but, i think, because it is not a manual discharge you should be fine using them in it. One way to test it is too turn the alternate on to a low temperature with a questionable battery inside for a minute or so and see if the battery gets abnormally hot. What kind of charger do you have? Assuming that it's a smart charger with overcharge protection, than it should totally be great to use with any of your batteries.

Any of your Milaana batteries will work with the Alternate Mags, and you can absolutely charge them separately like with Milaana as well

A bit complicated. I did upgrade the software. But not sure what some of the messages are like switch on or off. I do wish mine had come with a real manual. Also is using battery quickly. I'm just doing the burn off because mine did come with a bad plastic smell.

More initial reactions: I don't like the grinder. The herb using that was very rough. I was using water and didn't get much vapor. I tried again just adding herb that I had ground in the scs, and skipped water. That worked much better. Will try again with water.
I so rarely use session vapes that I'm not sure yet whether this is a keeper or not. It reminds me of the flowermate and CFX but that's probably because they are also session ones.

I just bought the Alternate, it should be here in about 10 days. I have never even tried a vape once, so it's all completely new for me, and I have to say I'm very excited about it.

I would like to publicly thank @sickmanfraud and @Oogendoogan for their help

Also, the biggest of shout outs to @PuffItUp and in particular Jake. I guess there's no need because all of you on FC know them well, but they really went above and beyond, and they surely made a costumer for life.
If you're like me, living in Europe and considering if ordering from a EU re-seller would be better, just drop them a mail.
I ended up spending less than what I would've if buying a CF from the UK (the Alternate is not available in Europe), and they threw in a grinder, some replaceable screens and an extra battery for a few dollars more. Ah-mah-zing!!!
I will update this post if there are problems with customs or shipping in general, but I'm pretty confident.

I don't want to sound too soppy, but I'm so happy there's a community of great people like you!

Had a couple sessions but failing to get fat clouds. Getting effect and light vapor. I feel like it's not getting heat through to my load cause avb is not very dark. I've packed it full and also half with concentrate pad. Also tried all levels of sir flow. Can anyone help me get fatter rips of thing.

Not sure about the concentrate pad since I only do flower. Could you be packing it too full? Have you tried changing the grind? Once I did that I had no trouble getting clouds
