Vapolution 2 ,,my 1st vaporizer. 2012. Utterly amazing.Still infatuated with whole process. What a great company.

I love this vape. It will get you baked if you use the whip, Wonderbowl, or the water attachment. It will get you absolutely baked. I do think it tends to smell a lot more than some other vapes. If the weed inside of the chamber starts to break apart, it can fall into the sleeve and keep cooking. Another thing is I take out the piece after almost every hit. If you get superbaked and leave the piece in your weed will get fried black while you are not even taking a hits and this also tends to smell. Because of the smell I have used mine since April only about 10 times. I have never tried micro dosing with this vape.

EDIT: I am glad I purchased this vape.

For me,,the smell was very negligible at best. Portable vapes,way more smell.

Well, it's been a year since I started using my VAP3.

Right out of the box, I can confirm it had the chemical plastic smell emanating from the device, as posted by other users. Smelt like burning plastic and chlorine. It was very strong and the device still smells up close to this day.

In the first 2 months, I would occasionally get a HEAT PWM ERR with Vapolution's phone number under it. Resetting the device corrected the issue everytime but I thought I should check in to see if it was an issue.
I called them for a month at different times of the day and week, no one ever answered the phone and it always went to an automated message. Emails and messages left through their website were never replied.
Since the device worked after resetting I let it go, but still occasionally get the error message (yesterday in fact).

THE MAIN ISSUE

Over time, the power cord, home not car (never used the car adapter), would not power up the device unless slight downward pressure was applied to the cable while it was plugged into the device.
Again I attempted to contact Vapolution phone and email; they never replied.
Fed up of having the device constantly turn off because the power cord moved, I decided to investigate.

The inside of the power port on the device has melted plastic around the center pin.
The cable end has plastic seperating the outer sheath from the inner sleeve (+ and -). This plastic is melted and compressed...which led me to deduce that the center sleeve on the cable was now larger than the center pin on the device, and thus not making contact unless downward pressure was applied.
I inserted a single strand of Cat5 cable into the cable end and plugged it into the device and it works fine without pressure in any direction...proving the sleeve is now larger than the center pin.

I reported this to Vapolution via email and attempted to call them again...NOTHING, like usual.

Satisfied that Vapolution will not support or stand by their product, I decided to open the device up to see if the power port could be replaced...which they will no doubt hold against me now if I ever do get a reply from them.

The power port was completely melted around the center pin.

The small circuit board that holds the center pin (+) and the negative (-) tongue where the internal cable are soldered onto, is detached from the port and moves freely in and out of the port.

Essentially, YES, the port is replaceable.

Although I found this vaporiser to be of far better quality than the chinese crap being sold to idiots out there (of which I went through many), the VAP3 still has only lasted me a year which is only moderately longer than the chinese stuff.
I purchased this because it is made in the USA...but it is clearly made in the USA from chinese parts.

The biggest problem here is that for whatever period of time, I've been inhaling plastic fumes. This completely negates the clean glass on glass vapor I thought was saving me from the carcinogens of smoking...frankly, I'd have prefered the bad stuff from the smoke than from the burning synthetic petrochamical product.

Melting plastic creates hot fumes which obviously rise in the device and since the device's internals are not sealed...the fumes will have been escaping around the top cap and into the surrounding air which is then inhaled. (For those that would like to argue the path of the inhaled vape is between the test tube and the straw)


Vapolution's customer service is appaling. They dont reply but when I oredered new sleeves...SOMEONE SHIPPED THEM. So someone is there.

i'd like to see the melted connector. i have some thoughts about what's happening.

I would suggest imgbb as an image hosting site. Once you register and learn the process (basically upload from.... then select from the drop down menu of your image- "full linked bb code"- copy and paste that code directly here and your images will be displayed here for all to see)

I cant personally see your images above. I see the IMG box, I click it- view image...then I get Onedrive asking me to "update shit, terms of service" etc. I can't be bothered with that shit, and I expect others would have the same experience depending on there device's setup.

Imgbb works very well. Images are displayed visibly here, no need to visit another site as I do now to view members' imgur pictures.

i wonder if your wall wart and cable from wall to vapolution gets warm/hot?

looks like that plug is not adequate for several amps of current flow … any resistance in the circuit (like oxide on the pin) and it gets hot. so, either the designer's usage mode doesn't match yours, or they should just use a connector that can handle more current - the gold plated Deans i use can handle 70 amps. even so, i need to wipe off the oxide periodically, or the plug gets warm - not enough to melt anything, however. i use mine 6 times a day (at least) for the last 3 or 4 years - it just works.

Yeh. Clearly the connection being made at the port, for whatever reason had an increase in resistance or reduction in conductance. I imagine when the sleeve on the cable end started enlarging, the contact surface with the pin got smaller but amperage remained the same. However the pin does also look corroded too, so who knows. Cleaning corrosion is fine but cleaning the pin in the port isn't easy.

I always have it set to 160C and since the computer controls the heater (it cycles oftain per session), it's definitely not me demanding more than it can handle.

I use mine equally, 6-8 times /day.

Obviously a poor choice of power ports as something obviously went wrong on my unit.

Since Vapolution won't reply or answer, I'm going to remove the port and solder on a new cable (4" with a medical connector) which Ill fasten to the unit (so hardwired essentially). The new cable is medical grade and the connector locks everything tightly into place...obviously I'll have to rewire the transformer too.

I'll concede, although it did fail, the Vapulotion is somewhat repairable by someone competent enough in electronics. The chinese vapes I had before were absolutely not user-serviceable.

well, not taking orders yet. The law says it is not legal to make or sell a vape in my state, although they sure are sold at the local dispensary … and i'm working through the last items on the punch list.

PID temperature control and glass-only airpath … i'm spoiled! and a nice leather case.

I for one still like it a lot more than the vap 3, the only issue I ever had with it may seem kinda petty but I feel they would have sold more of them if they hadn't had the big ol "vapolution the first glass on glass vaporizer" printed in huge lettering on every unit. If you can find a Vap 2 somewhere you won't be disappointed.


EDIT; I do believe they were in the Paradise / Chino area so maybe they were affected by the Campfire too.

I agree, they sold out and us along with them. Amazing how difficult to find a company interested in the quality rather than the income...then again that's how the world has gone, products garanteed to last a year, not a lifetime.

I'm on the hunt for a VAP2, which I had a feeling was the beeter product...of course once the VAP3 came out, the 2 was no longer being sold by them.

The circuit board holding the power port pins broke off completely last night so my VAP3 is now hardwired to the transformer...whilst I await the medical cable I ordered. Considering I've always been tethered to the wall anyway, it really doesn't complicate things at all.

@Hippie Dickie The Glass Symphony is a PID Controlled true glass on glass. Some of the bowls have mesh screen but there is also a bowl with a glass screen so technically ,it checks all the boxes,but it aint portable as the Bud Toaster,I imagine owning both with be best purist combo.
I have made a few Gn0mes which are portable(It is an discontinued design,formelly produced in Canada) but flamepowered,and i have added glass pinces ,so i can do without the screen. I think also the Elev8r has an bowl with glass screen,which also makes it true all glass . I think the vaponic also can be used without a screen.
Anyway.. i know the Bud Toaster design has been around for years,yet still it is the only portable that can offer true all glass concept which is amazing. Honestly i am playing these days with similar PWM controlled heater concept in a logvape body,but i have yet to catch up on PID part of things,i bet it makes an enormous difference in performance ). And also appologies to everyone for the derail.

I fail to see from your pics how any possible fumes could have made their way into the vapor. This appears to be an external issue. Am I missing something?

i got a PWM controller on ebay for about $20 and decided a pc would do a better job of controlling the current than a potentiometer with a small control range ... that got me into PID.

I have 3 vap 3's...one of them has suffered a bad connection like described but I just jiggle it around alittle. they have always answered tech support email from their website....I have has vap1's and vap'2 over the years as I am only a few miles from Chico...probably the vap 2's are the best, I like the 3's but they take too much bud and it has to be gooey to fit in the larger diameter tubes, crumbly stuff has to be packed in which cause less circulation of air.

If I had one complaint it would be on the water bubblers....they do weird stuff like all of a sudden pressure equalizes I guess and it takes a dump into the tube, which can crack the sleeve. they also are hard at times to clean out, ideally you probably need to clean them every day.

I use my 3 with a screen and can load any size. The screen is from mesh I had around, it wraps the weed into like a screen joint and just goes in the bowl. One end is open the other has like a screen lid.

yes that works fine, I just like the smaller diameter of the tubes for the vap 1 and vap 2

Have you ever looked into these vapes for your use?
All 100% glass air path, absolutely no metal.
Very nice vapor that does not make me cough, even when it is thick.
Pretty efficient but also able to be a weed hog with minimal effort!

Some thoughts from the last few days:
Really like the smaller Vap2 bowls and thinner walls.
Maybe include a straight bowl, like the Vap2 for easier connections without kinks.
Heat up time is pretty fast!
Looks solid but is actually quite light to hold up to a WT, nice bonus!
I love the session progression as you draw, from light blue to thick vapor all in one draw and it carries on for a few hits like this.
A bit of silicone tubing over the bent stem, mates perfectly into a 14mm!
No grinding at all!!
