Discontinued Vapir Rise Vaporizer

Yeah, the VapirRise is my favorite, and I'm glad that I purchased it. But, the extended temp and fanless option are very tempting. I wonder if it is possible to upgrade the original?
Call them and find out!
Damn, wish I waited a month! I really like version 1 so no complaints. Will give a review soon.

Hey Vitolo, how do you clean yours? What's the best way to clean the whip? Can the bags be cleaned?

Thanks!!
I clean everything with 91% Iso.
I pay careful attention to the rod in the center of the basket, going up and down with a qtip dipped in Iso.
I clean the whips by filling halfway with Iso...cover each end and shake well....
then I rinse with hot water, then drip some dish soap inthe tube and fill with water and shake well again.
I then rinse/flush for a long time.
I finish up by drying at the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner (shopvac)

Bags can be cleaned for reclaim, but then would be worthless for re-use. I think bags are best thrown away when done harvesting anything you wish to collect.

I contacted Vapir yesterday and was informed there was not a way to upgrade the original Vapir Rise to the 2.0 version.

They did remind me about their recycling program, where you can return an older or non-working product and receive 50% off the price of a new one.

While I would really like to have the higher temp setting, I'm going to pass for the foreseeable future.

My rise finally came yesterday, and I went ahead and got the 2.0. It's working like a dream, I couldn't be happier. One quick thing though, I know I've read somewhere of a way one should clean the whip before the first use, but I can't remember how or where I read it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Edit: I just remembered it was in the booklet itself, never mind.

... and for those who do not recall...
Vapir recommends soaking hose prior to use in hot (not boiling) water.

OK now that I've had it for over a month its time for a review. At first my results with this vape were inconsistent, that told me there's a learning curve, sweet spot or technique I needed to figure out. Now that I've got it, here goes. Full disclosure, this is my one and only plug in desktop vape.

There are two important things that are key to getting thick clouds (even with small loads). First its important to pre heat the bowl for 3-5 minutes. Then use supplied hot chamber grabber to pull open bowl and load your erb. It will be hot, but very easy to do with holder. Snap together, put in unit and your good to go. I like to vape at 400 with low fan speed. Be sure you erb is dry.

The second thing that's key to thick clouds (I'm an admitted cloud chaser, and flavor chaser, l want it ALL!!), is making sure the upper screen in the heating chamber with the shaft attached to it remains sitting against your erb. This is critical. Sometimes it will get stuck to the top of the chamber which will cause poor performance. This typically only happens when your due for a cleaning, as the sticky shaft, well, sticks.

Ever since I've taken notice of these two things its been thick, tasty, cool clouds every session. The thick stainless steel screens in this unit should last years of daily use. Very heavy duty.

The newer Vapir Rise may produce even thicker clouds with the higher temps, also the option of shutting the fan off is a plus. Little vapor escapes on low fan setting, however if this bothers you, the whip fits into the bag attachment, so you can actually fill a bag between pulls.

The plastic lever on the bag valve could have been better quality. I mostly use the whip though.

Overall, very happy with it!

Thanks for all the excellent and informative reviews! I am almost ready to buy my first desktop vape, and I am leaning towards the Rise 2.0. I currently own an MFLB (still in use by my daughter), NO2 (my fav and goto), and just picked up a cheap Titan 2 (a very portable backup) - all useful vapes, but none that I want to pull out when a few friends come over.

A few questions from a desktop newb....

How herb efficient is the Rise? I know if I want to use it with 3 friends I will need to put in more than the NO2, but is it as efficient as the NO2?

Has anyone actually used it in "hookah" mode with 3 or 4 whips? Does the unit come with 4 whips? Is balloon mode better hookah mode?

BTW... Vapir is selling the 2.0 on Ebay of all places for $212. They go by "vapir-vaporizers", and it appears to be the manufacturer themselves. (I've bought some supplies for my NO2 from them and the emails and package all came from Vapir.) Looks like a good deal, they include a few extras (such as a second herb chamber). (I'd post the link but I am not sure of the forum policies about that)

Well, I can't compare to the NO2--but I find it to be efficient. I can get 4 or 5 bags from a chamber 1/4-1/3 full.

My rise was only shipped with 2 whips. I have purchased two others (and an extra bag assembly) and used it in hookah mode for a short period. We decided it was just easier to fill bags and pass them around.

Good luck with your decision!

That sounds real good, and I had a feeling things could get a bit wonky in octopus mode.

Appreciate the info!

I just have a feeling if I get this I am gonna be upping my consumption...

Kazz, what temperature(s) are you using to get that many bags? Are they reasonably consistent in vapor production?

Octopus mode is fun.
As long as one of you does not have super lungs of steel.. (he just needs to calm down and vape more gently)
There was ample vapor for 3 people to use the unit at once.
When one has had enough, he shuts his valve (personal valve for each)

I start at 375, and bump it up (5-10 degrees per bag) each refill. The last is still effective at 395-400, but definitely not as dense as the first couple.

I follow a similar progression with my portable (an Elevape) My three settings on that are around 375-385-395. I just bump it to the next setting when it gets wispy.

Your mileage may vary, but that is what works for me.

Your consumption will probably go up some if you use the VR a lot. I like to use it when I want to be heavily medicated or have friend(s) over. I still love my no2 and use it most, just a tasty cloud producer. The whip from the VR works great with the no2. In the near future when I'll have plenty of flower I intend to use the VR a lot more!

Almost there...
Just found my old Vapir ONE vape under a pile of other stuff!!!
Still in the original box... Maybe used twice...

I contacted Vapir about their upgrade program so should hopefully only have to pay 50% for the newer Vapir Rise!!!
Will let you know what happens!

Also have an old NO2 that may also go in for recycling!

Im in love with my EQ but wouldnt mind grabbing a VapirRise...anyone have both? Would it be pointless to have both? My EQ is awesome so i have no real reason to buy the VapirRise except curiosity.

I have both.
The Rise is used at home.
The 2 Qs are loaners that I use for when folks are getting units repaired.
People like the bells and whistles.

I feel that the Rise produces a thicker, and more consistent vapor, at lower temperatures than does the EQ. The Rise also fits more medication, for folks that really want dense vapor with strong flavor. This aspect would be contrary to the conservation that most folks seek... but the capacity does not mean you have to use it! You can still conserve.
I like the Rise much more than the Q.
....My EQ is awesome so i have no real reason to buy the VapirRise except curiosity.
If the EQ is great for you, I see no real reason to own both.... other than the simple science.
Simple Science Simplified:
If you love an inanimate object that suffers wear and tear, that could eventually stop functioning....
...and you introduce other distractions/diversions/methodology that reduces the number of times a day that you use that inanimate object (even by just one single usage per day)...
The progressively longer will be the duration of the objects functional availability on a timeline of events.
If financial considerations are all comfortable, then collecting units is cool!
(says a heavy collector:cool:).

Disclaimer:
Simple Science is not simple, nor is it real.
I just made it up for this post.
It does however make sense, and I am sure that there is some word for this concept somewhere.
(I will feel silly when someone says the word, now!)

I was looking over the quick start guides by Vapir, and the 1.0 unit seems to insert the bowl prior to heating, and the 2.0 unit seems to want the unit pre-heated before attaching the bowl. The FC reviewer above (queerfermadness) says the bowl needs to be pre-heated for 3-5 minutes - and I assume he means a loaded bowl - is this after the unit has reached temp?

Is the procedure to pre-heat the unit to temp, prepare the bowl (heating chamber), insert the bowl into the unit, and then pre-heat some more before using?

Yes, I know, I have probably over-complicated this entire procedure...:bang:

I am reading that both insert bowl before heating.

This is from 2.0 instructions at:
https://www.vapir.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Manual_VapirRise2.0-Ultimate-Hookah-ENG.pdf

•Gently push together pre-filled Chamber and Adapter by securely snapping into place .

•With the Chamber and Adapter securely assembled, push the Plunger down to fully compact the herbs.

•Utilizing Temperature Touch Panel, set the desired temperature, a good median range to begin with is between 350-380°F (Figure-02).

•Begin heating process by touching the Heat Button which will illuminate red to indicate heating has begun.

I have the 1.0. I plug it in and bring it to temp, THEN insert the loaded bowl. I've never had any issues at all. LOL, to be honest, I never knew if they said to preheat the bowl or not.

My second vape device the magic flight, i have that like you but wanted more, something better suited to my needs. I had been holding back on getting a desktop model due to price. I got lucky though and looked on cyber monday and found it at several sites $179. too good a deal for me to pass up. still today on the manufacturer's site it is $199.

that said your first question as to efficiency...to be honest i was greatly surprised just how well the vapirrise 2.0 worked. for the same quantity of material(herb) i am now able to get 2x out of it in balloon mode than i have using any other vape device in the past though never have used the NO2. Significantly better, more efficient extraction imho than say our MFLB's. nothing wrong with the MFLB but kind of comparing "apples to oranges."

you asked about hookah mode, that i cannot help you with as i only use mine for medical reasons never socially at this point in my life.

number of whips included-2

I spent hours reading and watching reviews on many desktop vapes and my criteria were price, ease of use, quality, versatility, efficiency and last but not least ease to maintain or clean. I had narrowed down the field to just three vapes but then as said cyber monday & i saw the vapirrise for seventy bucks off and there was no choice to be made. i have used it daily now for a few weeks and i could not be happier. Just my 2 cents anyway.

yeah i do that too all the time, try to remember hakim's razor ;-)

i have the 2.0 and i prep the bowl first, heat up the unit then at temp i drop the bowl in and adjust my fan speed based on if i am using the whip or the bag. it really is simple no matter the instructions. fyi when i first got mine i did just the opposite, i dropped the bowl in first and then heated it up. the thing is it heats up so quickly i can't see how it is that big of a deal, at least in my experience. fyi 3-5 minutes, to each their own but for me by the time five minutes has passed my bag/balloon is totally full of vapor.

i follow much the same strategy too. i recently came across study results granted i know nothing of the methodology that was employed. nonetheless depicted were a series of graphs, x axis temps and y for cbn, cbd and thc with the latter maxing out with the vapirrise when set at 380-385F. when i get towards the end of the line so to speak then i up it to 395-400 range. that said i much prefer the resulting vapor at lower temps my sweet spot is 390F.

Nice!

Thanks for sharing. Nice to know that I am not totally off base on my method.
