Just got a new cloud and am not getting thick vapor like I'm seeing in the videos. I have tried various settings from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock and nothing is producing much that I can see at all. My herbs are pretty damp - could that be the problem? Should I be breathing in slower or does it matter? I feel like I'm doing about what I see in the youtube videos.
I am letting it heat up plenty - I've even tried several hours (turning it off an on like the sheet that comes with it says to).
Any help? Also, if you fill your ELB about 70% of the way up, how many hits do you generally get off of it?
I had this initial experience ... and now I empty out an ELB with 2-3 hits at a 1-1:30 setting.
Here's some tips based on my experience (you'd find the same if you browsed back through, but to avoid unnecessary stress ...):
- Make sure the herb is well grinded and not packed in there tightly, but loosely loaded (and not overloaded). My preferred method is the "insert in tube or 18mm glass piece and suck it up" which ensures it's evenly, not too tightly loaded. Alternately, don't push it in, just tap the side of the elb, or tap the elb on a table or something to get the herb to fall down into it. If it's stuck, lightly poke at a couple little spots with a small poker (ie. nail or something) so as to not compact it but just to loosen it so it falls more readily. I can't emphasize enough to not compact it as was mentioned above for avoiding restricting air flow.
- Again on the topic of air flow, just in case you are restricting air flow anyways, pull as hard and fast and long as you can ... unlike other vaporizers, don't sip at it but suck for all your worth and if it's a matter of the air flow being too blocked up by over stuffing this act will compensate
- 3:00 is a good starting setting if you are having trouble getting sufficient vapor
Think that's about it ... the heating up thing is helpful, but I'm sure you've more than got that covered ... if I'm turning it on and hitting it pretty much as soon as it gets to temp I usually set it around 3:00 otherwise if it's going to be on for a good 15 minutes or more first, then a setting of 1-1:30 does just as well.
