ran into a small problem today, I was hitting my GC 10 arm bub with the cloud with some girls over. The girls had a very hard time getting a hit off of the bubbler and we had to switch back to the HT. The reason this might be is because the connection isn't 100% air tight so I was thinking of buying an adapter. Does anyone know where I can buy a straight up adapter for the piece? Would a carbon adapter seal the connection more?

I've noticed that GonG joint dimensions, particularly with adapters, can vary a wee bit. I have several ALT pieces all of which are 18mm but are not exactly the same. One solution I stumbled on to - I have no idea if there are downsides to doing this - was to use a very little vaseline (no jokes, please) near the end of the joint, that really tightens the seal.

EDIT: I've wondered whether the differences are sometimes due to pieces being 18mm vs 18.8mm vs 19mm (???)

I think there will be a little play in any joint with the Cloud. Didn't the VX team decide to have the joint on the Cloud shaved down a bit?

Yes. I recall that being a response to someone who said their HT did not sit flush or tight, or something. What I remember was a "side" was shaved down to prevent HTs from getting stuck and unable to remove from the protruding joint.

Those measurements confusingly refer to the same standardized joint size. With different glass "manufacturers" providing "standardized" joint stock to different glass artists there is bound to be a little bit of play within the pack (not to mention many artists manufacturing their own joints in-house).

A carbon fiber adapter is generally regarded as a "smokers" tool, it is a piece of glass that offers a vessel to fill with carbon which is use to filter/clean smoke before (usually) it reaches the main filtration chamber. When empty, a carbon fiber adapter is essentially just an adapter; if you're looking for an adapter to use with the Cloud search first for a plain old adapter as there are plenty of these on the market (IMO), if you can't find one a carbon fiber filter should work fine (obviously sans the black stuff).

Snakee, the only way is to import it, using one of those shipping services or having a friend mail to you.

Keep in mind, there is no international version and only works with the U.S./Canada power system, and the unit is not warrantied using any other power supply other than U.S. and Canadian wall outlets. Can't even use a generator.

But air is expansible/compressible. You could probably break the Cloud doing this test wrong. You can get few bubbles through, every bubble will make it harder as underpressure will develop in the Cloud part. And then when you stop pulling, water could get into Cloud as the undepressure will suck air back from top. I would release the finger before stopping pullin to prevent this. Or try it without water, that is safest.

I don't know if there are any downsides to vaseline myself either, but sounds like a good fix.

I used to use vegetable oil to help with seals when I used to have to jimmy rig up creative apparatuses. I would imagine coconut oil would help as well with any seal issues if you're not feeling like or have vaseline.

Hahaha this Cloud is suppose to save me money by using less but I want every hydratube I see! Lol! The HydraLine is real slick, I gotta get that one eventually.

But that HydraDisk that Glasstafarian posted on his YouTube is pretty freagin amazing as well (thanks t-dub for the link).

Ughhhh. Thank God I'm too broke to buy anything at the current moment. Around Christmas is when I think I'll be able to buy another hydratube unless a miracle happens :-)

You're referring to a carbon filter. Carbon fiber is a reinforced polymer made of... carbon fibers.

Thanks but I already saw that and it does not answer my question. I need to know if clicking the switch to on first and then plugging in will turn it on. There is an hour shutoff timer and I don't know how that will affect whether just plugging it in with the switch set to on actually turns it on or if you have to physically click to off then on. In the video she already has it plugged in.so I cant tell.

@John Lewus I can't test this (but gladly will once my Cloud has arrived if someone else doesn't chime in first) but I have all sorts of timers laying around and feel pretty confident that the Cloud will work fine with one, as you hope to use it. I understand what you're asking, if the actual mechanical clicking turns the switch on/off or if it will recognize the status merely based on switch position, and I can't answer that for sure just yet, but based on all my general knowledge and experience I would hazard to say "yes", using a timer as an "auto-on" feature for your Cloud would likely work fine. I would however imagine that it might void your Warranty. You will of course also still have to keep the auto-shut off feature in mind


The Cloud related anticipation is eating away at my mind. Really, its actually affecting my life. Last night I had a horrible sleep and at one point I dreamt that SM55 floated toward me on a cloud, composing himself much like the Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland, and offered my a hit. If wishes were Clouds...

I wonder if there are plans for a glycerin filled HT? I think it would be pretty sweet to use as a dry piece. It would cool the vapor without any flavor loss and you wouldn't have to worry about thermal shock...we all know water and electricity just don't mix.

the cloud has an on/off switch and a temp dial. thats it!!! plug it in, turn it on and let it warm up till the light turns green then its ready to enjoy.

I have had problems with devices that have shutoff timers where you had to turn on then off but usually those don't have mechanical rockers.

curious to know if this works. I use my iPad to control a lot of things in my house. If I can have my cloud pre-heated and waiting for me when I walk in the door I'll be one happy camper!

I'd love to see some type of glycerin filled HT as well. My personal preference for diffusion is some type of minimal percolation plus ice, but we already know using ice in HTs can be risky if not done carefully. Glycerin HTs would eliminate this problem for sure! I do imagine they would be pricey though.

The use case that intrigues me is to get some NFC tags out near my garage door that I can just wave my phone over as I walk in that kick off a task from my phone to turn on my cloud.

Yep..that should work just fine.

If you have the switch in the on position before plugging it in, it will be on as soon as you plug it in, or if it's in a power strip as soon as you turn the strip on.
