Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud

I saw a few pages back somebody wondering about cloud failured and voltage. My cloud failed after ~2months and my voltage at home runs high at around 140v. My electrician said its pretty normal, I have a huge range of tools that don't mind.

I am betting that the extra input voltage is causing the cloud to get hotter than designed. Especially for somebody like me who uses MAX alot on the knob.

Anybody else with a cloud failure able to test voltage? It's really easy with a multimeter :) they are cheap!

My voltage was around 123.7 volts. And it stays pretty constant. Everytime I plug in my Kill-A-Watt, I get around the same amount. It hasn't fluctuated at least while I watched it.

The wiring in my house is def really old. On the flip side, i was a computer tech for ten years and had a whole bunch of electrical equipment through the house with no problems. I cant imagine that the Cloud could be that sensitive.

(edit: 1 month, not 2, thats a quick death)
I don't have any problems with other electronics I can think of ... but my servers, network equipment, and workstation are all on UPS'. (And my UPS' in my office kicks on for instance when I print ... the surge draw from my printer causes a significant drop ... my workshop with all brand new, certified, tested, to-code wiring, the lights dim when the miter saw fires up ... etc. 2 dead Clouds in <3 weeks. The only other electronics that I can think of failing is it seems my wife never has an alarm clock last more than a few months ... we just attributed it to cheap alarm clocks

Was your cloud on when you were printing when it failed?

No ... but it shows evidence that startup currents cause drastic drops in my electricity when it shouldn't ... even on separate circuits ... for instance there is 60A to the workshop (on a 100A capacity wire) ... and the lights are on an independent isolated 15A circuit from the panel, and the saw is on a different 20A circuit. So there's lots of power in the shop and lots of power on each circuit and lots of power to the house and yet my lights dim when the startup current of the saw surges ...

I haven't done any work in my shop recently ... so it's not that ... there was nothing going on of note when each Cloud failed ... but could be anything ... the furnace, the fridge ... who knows. Also from brown-outs (ie. voltage drops) I've had neighbors lose electronic equipment ... my neighbor across the street lost furnace, TV, dishwasher, a bunch of stuff all at the same time during a brown-out.

the discussion about power spikes and static could be a factor
but the fact that VXL turned the heat down in the revised plus speaks to something.

I love my super hot December unit.

The loose older ELBs have me thinking that the male joint is thinner. It cannot be much larger OD.
So there's that.

So ima not gonna leave my heater on all evening and ima baby the shit outta the joint.

And for damn sure ima extend the warranty b/4 this one runs out.

vids to come soon :D I am thinking about that upgrade. I am not in any hurry, as I am just a few months into my warranty, but as the fall approaches, assuming nothing has changed, I will likely invest in the plan. I really like my older ticker style cloud, and want to have it around as long as possible. If I can get a 2 year extension close to the end of my first year, I think that is a fair deal. Beats having to pay full price for a replacement, that's for sure. I am very happy to see the bamboo can be replaced. I think that was the only hang up I was having with this vape, and wouldn't let ANYONE touch it out of fear of them breaking the gong. Adding the buddy helps this too, as they don't have to move the cloud to carb.

Just fired up the Cloud for the first time today (received it yesterday), and the housing started lightly shocking me every time I touched it. What's up? Should I buy a UPS?

I was just talking to my wife about the warranty issue. I am not sure how long I have had mine, but it's been a while. I might not go with the extended warranty. I really don't want to send it in, and it's working great. I know I don't have to upgrade to get the warranty, but I am one of those "it it ain't broke" people. And if it does die in a year, I'll buy another.

I look at it like cell phones. When I bought my first iPhone, I didn't expect to have it for years. When I lost it, I bought another. If it dies, I'll buy another. I never do extended warranty at Best Buy and shit, either. Sometimes it works, sometime I screw myself.

Either way, it's all good. My wife said "if it dies you might want to try something else". I know, she doesn't get it, hehe.

Wow, quite a bit of action since the last time I posted and a lot of questions. I'll do my best to answer but if I miss any, just let me know.

1. You can upgrade to the extended warranty as long as your current Cloud is in warranty.

2. Turnaround time will be 2-3 weeks.

3. If your Cloud is still in warranty and if something goes wrong with it (outside of the glass) you do not need the extended warranty to get your Cloud fixed.

Let me know if I missed anything.

For those of us whose Cloud is out of warranty but still running fine, is there going to be any kind of service plan in the future should we run in to problems?

*Edit* Say we run into a heating issue, is our only option to buy a new Cloud?

Don't suppose there will be an option to pay $150 now and not send it in for the upgrade until/if it breaks within the extended warranty period?

Does this answer your question? . . .

Yes, with the condition that you purchase your Cloud plus upgrade before the current warranty expires. You can then send it in at any time . . .

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
Would the Extended Warranty transfer with the Cloud?

That is, if I bought or sold a used Cloud that already had the Extended Warranty would it still retain the Extended Warranty?

I think I will extend my warranty. Knowing I will get a solid 3 years out of my Cloud is amazing. How can anyone complain about the price tag now? If you are in the market and plan on vaporizing (hard) multiple times a day for over 3 years, the step up in price to get a Cloud is negligible in my opinion. (Is it really more expensive? You only need to make one at-home-vaporizer purchase for over 3 years).

I don't know if I need the four retrofits SM55 mentioned though.
...
*Shorter heat up times
*Replaceable bamboo (will still need to be sent in)
*Longer auto-shutoff time
*Cooler to the touch
...
If the bamboo will still need to be sent in for replacement after the retrofit, then how is it an upgrade? How much faster is the heat up time (do I remember someone saying 3 minutes)? What will make it cooler to the touch, retaining the heat at the core better, new housing, or less power(toke) output? Are there any retrofits that improve the reliability?

Given the bamboo currently isn't replaceable (AFAIK, if you break your bamboo right now you're SOL...)

Being able to send it in for repairs is most certainly an upgrade.

IMO it was a bit of an oversight that the most easily broken piece of the vape was entirely non-replaceable, but at least it seems that if you do the upgrade, you'll at least be able to pay for a repair instead of having to buy a whole new cloud.

If any of that is incorrect, I apologize, but that's my understanding ATM.

The Times They Are A-Changin'
In addition to the extended warranty, if you want to send in your Cloud we will retrofit it with some upgrades like the following:

*Shorter heat up times
*Replaceable bamboo (will still need to be sent in)
