Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud

Somehow, and I mean a slight drop of water wound up on the glass joint of the Cloud. It traveled down the joint before i could stop it, and I heard it sizzle on the metal. Next to that area, my glass joint is has a crack I am sooo nervous now. I hope pressure from a new ELB won't break it. I hope im not getting any bad electronics in my vapor path.

Please, can someone assure me everything is ok? And as soon as they put individual Clouds up for sale, I think I will buy another. Here is a picture. It's in the bottom left of the joint.

Don't worry about the electronics being in the path; the heater wraps the exterior of the tube's mid-section and the everything else is at the bottom behind the switch. Re a new ELB, use your Q's elbow to train it; it will be tight but IME with a little veg oil and patience it will fit, and after training should be sufficiently relaxed in the Cloud's joint.

From the pic I can't really make out the crack. I've had droplets of water on top of the aluminum housing lots of times, never sizzled though. But water inside the tube will do that. The temp measurements I've taken at the OD of the joint never reached boiling 212F; actually the top of the joint measures hotter. Are you 100% certain that no water went down the inside?

Recently, a friend coughed a lungful of water into the cloud causing alot of popping and steam. It looked like there were two cracks in the glass. However when I carefully cleaned the inside, they both wiped away.
I hope that this is the case for you too.

We'll test to see if you are going to be ok...can you see how many fingers I am holding up? :p (just kidding). In the big picture, everything will be OK. I imagine you emailed tech support already for insight even though it is not quite a warranty issue.

I'm positive it didn't go down. 1. I can't see the crack from the inside. 2. I watched the water droplet travel down the outside of the joint, and fall off the lip and then heard and sizzle, and went shit, and looked. I also put a different picture up (one with green light instead of red.) It's a bit easier to see. I'm so bummed.

The cloud is warming up for its second day of use. Some DJ Short Blueberry will be my morning load of choice.

On the Evolver HydraTree - is it normal for the tree to be touching the glass wall of the side of the tube? My tree is def not centered in the tube and wonder if this will cause any drawbacks.

HOLY SHIT! Holy SHIT! It wiped away with a q-tip no liquid! That is incredible. I wonder what it was! Thank you! Completely platonic, I love you! I love this forum! And I love the Cloud. New rule every time there is a hit to take, you must wipe it down now, no matter what. I'm gonna do a more thorough cleaning as soon as it's fully fully cooled.

It was probably the minerals in your water. The water boiled off leaving the particulates from the water.

Glad your device is okay.

Ever read the story about the boy who cried wolf? ;)

I'm glad it was a false-alarm though.

I went and checked mine and it looks like it has cracks too on the inside. However, after very careful inspection with a very bright light it was actually reflecting where the two metal pieces on top of the cloud come together. Your case looks a bit different. I had something similar and a quick wipe with a dab of iso cleaned it right off.

I wonder if any clouds have actually cracked this top piece due to water. It looks very sturdy but if you have your cloud turned to the max and leave it on for hours (toggling the switch every hour for the shutoff timer) it will get very warm. If you have very cold water in your tube and some drops on the male glass joint of the cloud then that combination of extreme heat with extreme cold somehow might crack this male joint. I wonder if this has happened and should be something to be cautious about.

One thing that I want to do is figure out how to cover the metal piece with some of that heat resistant silicon mat. I am thinking something like this http://www.amazon.com/Wilton-Easy-S...1348340532&sr=8-4&keywords=heat+resistant+mat but in black. I would need to cut it to fit the cloud and cut out a hole in the middle to push it down. It would also help cushion the hydratubes from slamming against the metal and if cut tight enough could help prevent water from sliding down the outer part of the tube between the metal and male joint where the electronics are located. After inspecting the cloud I am less worried about water going down the inside tube (unless it is super cold water) than I am worried about water doing down the outside of the tube but inside the cloud. That is where the heating element is. It almost needs some small amount of silicon sealant but then that would make repair more difficult.

My hydracirc was always really tight when pushing down and sometimes it would get stuck hovering about 5mm or so from being flush with the cloud. I would push it down but once you exert enough force to break the static friction it would accelerate too fast and potentially slam against the bottom. It is only moving 5mm so you can't exert that much force but over time it can wear out the joint on your hydratube. If your cloud is hot and you have cold water in your hydratube this could lead to a breakage. I think having the silicon mat on there would help cushion the hydratube from slamming against metal and would allow me to have the hydratube closer to flush with the mat. It is a thought. Also, the silicon mat would keep the top from getting too hot if you accidentally touched it. It would also hold in more heat inside of the cloud potentially allowing position 12 to act more like position 11. I am just speculating on this.

Has anyone tried this idea?

And FYI, the package is NOT discrete.

First Cloud arrived some months ago discreet with just the shipping label showing Vape-X in the return address.

Just now my second Cloud arrived with the packing list on the outside of the box in clear view showing logo, web address and package contents.

EDIT:
Something new, a "Cloud Sleeve" was included, it appears to be a formed wrap for the exterior of the Cloud.

i just got my two days ago, an was just like first one you received. Was usps, i think if i have a friend use the cloud. Im using my 9mm illadelph cause upside will be alot harder for them if they cough to blow back into cloud. Hydra tube is risky for people that have no clue.

Ok, so I got my Cloud today! 2 day shipping. I'm impressed. The label was TOTALLY unacceptable. The most indiscreet package I've ever received. I didn't really care, but my paranoid roommate was bugging out about it. Please put the order slip inside the box instead of on the outside, like they used to be apparently.

The biggest problem, though, is that my hydratube does not fit securely on the Cloud joint. When fully inserted, it still spins freely and rocks back and forth. I have the feeling that it would still draw vapor from the cloud, but when I put my mouth on it the unsteadiness makes me feel uncomfortable. Not to mention that the bottom of the glass is resting directly on the hot metal surface. I REALLY want to medicate with this thing. It's in my hands and it is beautiful and I want to fill it up so bad, but someone please tell me first if that will make me unable to return it for a securely fitting unit.

Thanks Mac! That looks different the I would have thought. I thought it would look like a beer koozie/sleeve. How does it wrap around and attach?

It appears to be a thin sheet of silicone, with a sticky back on one side and a protective film (which you can see wrinkling in the pic) on the other. The newly formatted instructions make no mention that I see.

My SGW does this as well. Its my understanding the joint has a tapered design to avoid the possibility of the Cloud and HT "freezing" together.

I will say that the glass in my Cloud has moved slightly up and down while in use, which means sometimes the HT rests on top of the Cloud and sometimes it doesn't. Both seem to work fine.

I think a slightly looser connection is better IMHO. It is easier to get the tube on and off.

I thought about trying a high temp o-ring at the base of the male glass joint. Thought it would provide a seal against water going inside and a buffer between the metal and glass. But I coulodn't figure out just how hot the top metal might get so wasn't sure what material o-ring to look for.

Looks like the new "sleeve" will solve the problem. Wonder when it'll be available as an accessory? And the glass feet too!

The hills are alive with the sound of music

She came- I have her heating up on max to burn off the oils and what not. I got the showerdome, tried to get it switch but they couldn't get to it in time. I am really impressed with everything. The level of quality is higher than I thought it would be. There is a plastic type wrap around that came along with everything, I haven't heard about this but I also just put that around the unit.

The elb is also training inside the unit while heating up - in hopes to kill two birds here - Should this be ok ? I have several elbs from the eq, the one I've tried has the elb fitting in pretty loose.

The way the elb is fitting into the cloud- it will go in all the way- with a slight bit of pressure and maybe a few tiny wiggles.

I didn't find a warranty card tho ?

Welcome to the Clouds! Sounds like you're good to go.

No warranty card...go online to their website to register your unit.

Enjoy!

On a Permanent Vakation
Just looked at my box (received my cloud around the first of august) and the packing slip was on the outside, displaying my package contents, etc...which IMO, spells out cannabis pretty clearly. I can see how it would be an issue for some, and I would really prefer any future shipments from VXL to be more discrete. On a slightly related note, on the corner of my box, on the same side as the packing slip, just below the little sticker with my VXL serial number bar code, there is a #4* written in marker, but the asterisk is a little star...kind of odd.

As I'm looking at my packing slip now, I see on the package contents list, a "vapex warranty card" was included. I double checked my package, and papers (got two instruction sheets) and I have no warranty registration card. It hit me that I haven't registered my cloud/warranty when I saw Sinclue's post, so I went to the VXL website and registered my warranty there...hope it's not a problem that I waited so long.

Unless someone posts something cautioning against the use of the Belkin WeMo/similar devices, or posts about a cheaper alternative, I'll be picking one of those up tomorrow at my local Best Buy. Seems like an amazing device to add to my home! I really dislike rushing to get my cloud turned on, so I can wait 10+ minutes to medicate...especially when I get home from work, etc. With the WeMo, I think this issue would be solved. Being able to turn the cloud on as soon as I am at my house, before I even walk inside, would be enough of a head start, and I could do things like start dinner, etc, before rushing to get the Cloud turned on!

Also, if what I am reading about the WeMo is correct, I may be able to keep the Cloud running without having to manually reset it ever hour, for more extended sessions. It seems that you can set up schedules, etc, for things plugged into the WeMo. If I could, for instance, set up a "schedule" for the WeMo that I have the Cloud plugged into, to turn off every 55 minutes, and then turn back on after, I wouldn't have to pay attention when I want to have it one for a few hour period in the evenings, or mornings, etc. Just a thought.

Re the Cloud shield, or whatever that cool looking wrap that covers the cloud is being called...I want one, and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival on the Cloud site! When it's available, I'll be picking one up, along with some ELBs. I have the original ELBS that came with the Cloud, plus the 4 pack I ordered with it. A couple of the ELBs out of the 6 that I have, fit perfectly; they slide in with minimal resistance...enough to keep them from being sucked out when the Cloud is being used inverted, but no more. The other 4 fit in, but fairly tough. The main concern is that when I go to remove one of the tighter fitting ELBs from the cloud, it will pick the cloud up off the table slightly before the ELB will want to come out of the GONG joint. I have tired this after cleaning the GONG joint with ISO, and they still fit super snug. I trained them all in the same 18mm male gong joint, and 4 of them just don't fit quite as nice.

I'm hoping I can use one of the codes that are out there (the fc one or the HighTimes one) to get a little bit of a deal, as I paid full price for the first 4 pack, that never quite fit as well as the two that came with the Cloud. Any opinions on which code will work, or would be best used? Got a bit confused between all of the talk about the high times code and the "fc" one. I don't really care, but at 5 bucks a pop, I wouldn't mind getting them a little cheaper this time around.

I have been talking about the Cloud with a co worker over the past 3 weeks or so, and kept getting the "I have a nice expensive vape, but I just like the way smoke hits me over vape" line. So, I finally invited him over for a sesh with the Cloud. Just as with the few others who I have shared the experience with, he was thoroughly impressed. I gave him his first hit, with a dry HT. I packed an ELB about half full with some Sage and Sour, and gave him a nice first hit at around 11 am on the temp dial. He got a nice milky hit, and was very satisfied, and couldn't hold back the look of surprise. I haven't talked to him since yesterday, when he tried it out...I have a feeling that he won't be saying the same things about vaping now though. He had me showing him the VXL website before he left, and was eyeballing the in stock packages eagerly.

I am still so impressed with my Cloud. I love it, and am grateful to have a reliable device to consume my medicine with. Thank you, once again, VapeXhale Labs!
