Ah. I assumed any glow was an indication of a problem. Or a future problem that'll come too soon. I'll stay watchful. Thanks.

Could someone please advise me if the Cloud Evo has thicker Vapor production than a Wooden Log Style Vaporizer?

I love my log vapes, but am looking for something stronger.

Thanks!

imo my heat island hits hard as hell, but the evo is the ideal choice if you reliably want to go thick consistent clouds from the very start to the end.

i have seen a lot of evos people have bought after mine though, and they all have a much dimmer light than my evo or older clouds do. on my evo, you can see if the bamboo is green or red from any angle very easily. on all the new evos i have seen though, you must look directly into the bamboo to see any color at all.

i'm not sure it's a coincidence these dimmer evos need to be cranked up heat-wise very high up to get decent vapor production, and it seems as if bowls take significantly longer to get started on vapor production.

was there a evo revision somewhere i missed?
sorry for getting off topic?

The LED being dimmer has nothing to do with versions or firmware etc ... its just "you'd be amazed how hard it is to find a supplier of green and red LED's" :) (ie. the dimmer LED is just related to the LED itself and has no impact on or relevance to performance)

@Burn thank you very much for the info. I am looking to find something stronger for regular use, not a companion vape.

I have a severely high tolerance, and am finding that herb is just not cutting it really. The fact that is has an oil setup was also a draw.

I was hoping the evo was more of a simple to use beast. A one stop shop if you will. No stems and such to fumble around with.

However if the vapor production is similar, then it's probably not for me.

Thank you guys very much for the insight!

=)

I am going to have to send mine in it looks like. I hope it isn't gone for too long, but I also hope that they make it more functional for me. I miss cloud hits already..

In the videos I've seen I feel like most people get like 1 really massive rip and then the rest are mini compared to the first one, what experiences do you have with that and how many hits per session do you usually get?

It's a matter of how much you load. If it's loaded light your feeling may have some validity, although it's likely the 2nd or 3rd hit could be the biggest. After all, you're dealing with varying amounts of moisture content in the herb, as well as the fact that the vape temp is going to be higher after it's been on a while, vs. at the 1st sign of the green light.

As for hits per session, in addition to the above mentioned moisture content that has to be vaped first, and what temp you start at, add in the greatly varying draw preferences between one person and another, and the answer to 'how many hits?' is really pretty useless. As with most any vape, you control the efficiency as far as how many hits you get. Crank it up to high temp right away and your bowl will be gone in a flash. Start low and move the temp up in increments and you'll get quite a few hits.

I fell asleep with EVO on for 4 hours (like I always do )

When I woke up, the LED was still green, and the unit was still on and hot/heat soaked.

Whats up with that? How did I bypass auto shut off?

You didn't purposefully bypass it. Sometimes it happens to my unit too and it's scary cause I think it gets way too hot. My bamboo is usually super glowing red when this happens and scares the shit out of me. Generally, I then have a corresponding nightmare of the bamboo melting like the T-1000 LOL!

It's a glitch in the system. I usually shut my unit off now when I'm done because of this.

LEARN YOUR EVO PEOPLE, MY EVO's awesome. I find it important to stop looking for thick clouds, or the same vapor production as the cloud, and just get medicated. What's in a feeling? I only judge the performance of a vaporizer based off my feelings I get. The strain of product has a HUGE impact on the Vapor production. Some produce dense clouds like smoke, others not so much, and not as many hits. Some strains you'll get 10 hits out .1, others 3hits. Then if you put too much herb in the screen this will make vapor production lighter,as well as too little. The EVO takes little to no technique to use, but if you're chasing massive clouds every hit some technique is required and mayve more temp. Also my bamboo is always glowing when I cut it off because of my desired temp. I sent my EVO back once due to this, and it was a total waste if time. I thought the Cloud+ yielded thicker clouds than my EVO originally, but I realized they were just harsher. The EVO vapor production is so smooth, its what I consider an acquired taste. Once you stop smoking and cross over to vapor, you tend to feel something is missing and you crave big clouds and higher temps. With the EVO you get that same feeling you're not getting all it has to offer, but that's not the case. I encourage all EVO owners to get a nice amount of a good strain, and sit down and learn your EVO. It's truly the answer!!! I get the hugest tastiest vapor ever and every pull, & all because I know my EVO. It no longer matters the stain the water piece or anything I'll get awesome performance every time. Play with temps, and screen loads. More isn't always better! Also clean those screens and water people!!! EVO4LIFE.

In the system of particular units, to be exact. The auto shutoff on mine (and my original Cloud as well) has never failed to work.

Lots of people keep their units at vaping temp all day. The housing certainly gets hot if you keep it going, but I haven't heard of an issue with units crapping out due to staying at temp too long.

I have actually heard people make the complaint 'I get wrecked pretty quick, but never get big clouds of vapor', as if they're only judging performance by how much vapor they can see on exhale. A big high without big clouds is actually a good thing.

I totally agree. It means more vapor has been absorbed. The vapor is sooooo smooth it doesn't irritate and cause the extreme coughing fits

i have TWO friends, evo owners (not FC members), theirs seems to be getting worse and worse about heating. they just straight up will not put out any hits unless the ELB has been sitting in there a little while and someone has given it a couple rips to get the heat flowing. once it gets going it works, but definitely much more of a heatup curve than there should be.

this does not seem right to me, should i insist he send it back for repairs?

it is not an issue with the ELBs being clogged, temp too low, anything like that. both these units require about 20 mins heat up time before any vapor production shows.

I know on mine, since the day I got it, you put the bowl and start milking without a second to lose.

You've tried theirs and vice versa? Just want to eliminate technique as a possibility... sounds like they need to slow down their draw?

chillin on the couch, sippin off a 22 ounce.
Honestly guys... If you're not getting thick clouds, the vaporizer ain't getting hot enough - pure and simple. You can try to rationalize things all you want.

Lol, some of these comments are hilarious... "I'm not getting any vapor, but I feel more medicated than ever!" N***a please....

Yeah. I'm talking my Evo vs their Evo, side by side, packing same size ELBs with the same stuff, eliminating as many variables as possible. My Evo was like, completely perfect and ran just like you would want it to. Perfect vapor from the instant it turned green. Both of theirs with the dimmer LEDs just honestly seemed like they were running at half steam or something. At least both of theirs were running identically to each other in terms of the "power deficit"".

Edit: my Evo is #490, theirs are both past the thousand mark.

Edit 2: I forgot to mention my old evo, the mesh screen became loose and would shake around. Maybe this is how nasty stuff got inside? It looks like i have a fresh bamboo on mine. My LED is stil lbrighter than the newer ones IMO, however i can tell it looks dimmer from most angles because the 18mm joint on top has more visibly ground glass which diffuses light more.

Received my replacement HydraFoot today and I am very pleased. This one is much higher quality (see pic below) VXL took care of the issue quickly without argument. The only demerits they get are for telling me that when my replacement shipped I would receive notice and a tracking# which never materialized. Customers hate this kind of thing because they can't see progress being made on their issue. I finally called today to find out that delivery was also, today. So there is a disconnect between the order# generation and the fulfillment notification somewhere . . . Overall a 9 out of 10.

Love the HydraFoot though, nice "phat" ring around the perimeter and flat on the bottom . . .

I'm rather relieved to read that a glow in the bamboo is normal. Whew.

I think I was just a bit overworried because I simply like the thing so damn much.

I bought a MFLB for the two week or so wait when I sent mine in about a month ago, and though its a nifty device for the price, my EVO was the first vaporizer I ever tried and the MFLB the second. What a difference! I was disappointed as hell for a few days, but then I got used to the MFLB and enjoyed it more: it's a fun little friend I can take out with me now and again, so I don't regret getting it. But it's no EVO, certainly.

I think you're overestimating the importance of vapor production/density.

1. EVO has the thickest production I've seen outside of the Cloud+ regardless.
2. I'd say it's the hardest hitting vape on the market, although I haven't hit a log vape. I always used to try converting 100% to vaping but could never do it with portables, the DBV or the Extreme Q, they just didn't hit me hard enough.

Then I hit a Volcano at my buddies and new a high end vape was what I needed. Ordered the EVO without hesitation. Had it a little over a week now, I'm not disappointed at all. The ONLY vape that has ever hit me as hard as a bong.

Also, the EVO always leaves a lighter brown ABV than I'm used to, no matter how much you hit it. Does not affect power.

TLDR:

Vapor Quantity =/= Quality
Vapor Density and ABV color =/= Level of Extraction

Also sorry for the double post but this is a very separate question.

I'm obviously loving my EVO, however above about 2 oclock on the dial, I start to smell some sort of fume coming from the EVO heater if I put my nose up to it and sniff.

I know this isn't unheard of but was wondering if it's anything to be concerned about.

Does this maybe relate to all the "odour" posts a little while back? With SM55 thinking drilling a hole in the bottom of the EVO to "vent"? Ofcourse, this was all only specifically when using the EVO inverted.

What does this fume smell like? Solder?
