I wonder if the crack widens enough when the heat is on to cause some minor loss of air-tightness and in turn combust just enough to catch a minimal burnt taste. Still, I would have expected some charring/black ABV.

That burnt taste is concerning for sure especially with a cracked bamboo....have you cleaned the bamboo and the ELBs?

My bamboo is spotless and same with me elbs I have t even done any dabs with it - do you find your bowls also last for only 2-3 hits max? Or do you think the crack could be causing that? And do you think the crack could have anything to do with why the Evo can’t keep up when I do a hard inhalation? Before it cracked it would keep up 100% no prbOblemo.

I do a medium grind, fill the ELB to 50% without packing (I do tap the ELB to get the herb to setttle) and get around 4 to 6 good draws at 12 o'clock and a couple more at 2 o'clock and sometimes more. Is this what you used to experience before the bamboo cracked?

Sorry to say ... if you're performance changed to what you're now describing around the same time that bamboo crack appeared....sounds to me like that crack's weakness increases slightly when heated. Would make sense since heat would cause the glass to expand if it's integrity were compromised enough by that crack.

Sounds like it's time for a repair?

@myla, thx for the advice :tup:. I've picked up PBW to clean the glass nails in an ultrasonic cleaner :). Good suggestion to try PBW with the hydratubes.



Last night was great with the EVO :). Potent. I switched over to Super Lemon Haze live resin today again with the EVO. The EVO is awesome for both. Concentrates are a different experience to me from flower, both good... just different. And variety is good :nod:. 12 o'clock on the dial worked very well again with great strong flavors. Great effects too. :leaf::leaf:

@ataxian, GDP is in the Canadian market but I'll have to keep an eye out to see if it becomes available to me. The quality of the grower counts, and I find it even depends on the batch :2c:. Pink Kush is strong indica readily available in Western Canada and it's potent high quality flower. I'm a strong sativa fan first and foremost. CA should have Strawberry Cough commonly for sale, plus Acapulco Gold and Trainwreck. Three of the best sativa flowers I've ever had. Have you tried where you're at?


Still loving the EVO here :love:. I did a second sesh of SLH live resin and the vapor was dense enough to lead me to exhale before long and cough a touch. Still potent, with what feels like an extra strong THC effect. Then I went and finished off a 1/3 bowl of Acapulco Gold at higher temps that was leftover from last night ;). Very enjoyable. I just packed up the ELB ~ 1/2 way with more fresh Acapulco Gold flower and took three low temp Helio draws already... because it's Saturday :tup:.

The EVO is so efficient :bowdown:. It takes me half as many draws on the EVO to finish a bowl compared to the Mighty/Crafty and even at twice the size of bowl, lol :lol:. The EVO works so well from microdosing all the way to large full ELBs.

I gotta say I like big bowls and I cannot lie :D.

GDP is one I have left 4-Da EVO!

I think there's lots of great information out there on popular cannabis strains and let's share what we have :tup:. Everyone should chase great cannabis and try new (to them) strains and growers as well. Acapulco Gold has a big rep :D; it even has its own Wikipedia page. I've posted before that Acapulco Gold is reportedly Jack Nicholson's favorite cannabis :). Acapulco Gold is a legendary progenitor of the sativa genetics in Skunk #1 :bowdown:, which has been called the backbone of modern hybrid cannabis strains for over over three decades or so, especially in Dutch cannabis lines. Look at the description of Skunk #1 on Leafly :nod:, https://www.leafly.ca/news/strains-products/top-100-marijuana-strains. Acapulco Gold is also a parent sativa strain of Haze sativa strains :love:.


While recommending sativa strains, I'll add that strong sativa strains with MX sativa roots have consistently given me particularly impressive sativa experiences :clap::love::science:. Everyone should try them. Interestingly it encompasses Strawberry Cough, Acapulco Gold and Trainwreck strains, all of which are all known as strong sativas ;). And they all are reasonably available in much of North America (especially western North America) and some beyond. Viper is another excellent strong sativa strain with quality MX sativa roots but it may be harder to find ;). Let's share great strain info :nod:.

I hit the EVO this Sunday again :), just finishing that 1/2 ELB of Acapulco Gold off from last night at 380 F with the hydratube. The EVO is great.

My experience growing up in the northeast in the 70s was that it was really hard to get and around $40-60 for four finger baggies back in the 70's. I don't think I ever got more than a quarter or half though. {waxing nostalgic for 70's herbs}

Evo arrived and I must have been high while ordering it because I assumed it would come atleast with a small mouth piece or something to use on arrival. So now I have it but don’t have any glass Should I just go by a bong rn or wait and get hydra glass from dhgate?

Ordering from DHGATE could take weeks or even more.

If you can't rig something yourself like @macbill suggested your best bet might be ordering something from VXL. I just checked my two goto retailers (POTV and PIU) and they don't seem to have any EVO glass pieces.

Anticlimactic so far for you @LitPot :lol:, but not a big deal ;). Many owners here have different personal preferences on how to use the EVO, be it upside-down in a water piece, a whip, dry/wet mouthpieces or a combination of them. Your local head shop probably will have something that will work if you want to get going with the EVO. As others have mentioned, DH gate is a cheaper option but it can be weeks to receive the item unless you pay extra for faster shipping. VapeXhale resellers may have some glass pieces out of stock at VapeXhale. I'd be jonesing to enjoy the EVO without much of a wait and a dry mouthpiece is an inexpensive start. Look at VapeXhale resellers and the VapeXhale website. That website has factory second Graphite Helio mouthpieces for $15 and the wet Calyx mouthpiece as well at a great price right now.

I don't think there are smaller sized ELBs. Your cannabis would not extract better with a smaller basket. If you look at a spent load in an ELB, all the cannabis is sucked up against the cap. Good air flow is necessary for extraction. 1/4 full is a good load in my estimation. You may have to load more frequently, but you get the flavonoids in the low temp range more frequently, too.
