Heatsoaking the heater not the herb dude ! The temp read you are getting is the temp of the coils ,not the air nor the surrounding materials.Tubo heater is consistent of 3 tubes with coils inside. The air gets heated by contact both the coils and the glass tubes. Heatsoaking is mainly getting the glass tubes hot,so the heat mass can gather up,this will result in smaller temp drops..@funkyjunky all this talk about heat soaking material has me confused.
I KNOW and have tested my convection "on demand" vapes MVT, Milaana, Boundless CVF. The material (cannabis) does not get hot unless there is heat going through the cannabis (drawing).
IF ha vape has conduction and convection that is a hybrid heating system.
Please @funkyjunky clear this up.
Thanks.
As far as i remember this was cleared by FJ the moment he introduced the cruise mode... He said something like , Hot tubo is a good tubo and also compares function to log vape..
In a log vape you want the heater well heated so you can have more stable temp/ hits ...
I can compared the preheated tubo vs the from cold to a performance of a log vape heated for 5 minutes vs for 30 minutes.
Cruise mode is not different than on demand,it is like the software is holding the button for you and long fire protection is off..,but overall is more gentle on the battery, cause it will drain less wattage over longer period of time, which i think is easier for half drained battery than delivering shorter busts of higher wattages ) !
U press fire button and + to get into the menu > vaping > Prot. set to XXX seconds.@Abysmal Vapor how do I set my cruise to a different time?
@sickmanfraud Hey buddy i think this great post of vapen00b will clear things up for you!
@funkyjunky Thanks a ton for your fantastic support and firmware update!
I made some temp measurements in regards to conduction/radiation.
First experiment: probe all the way down into female joint touching the internal mesh screen. (As if your material would have fallen onto the heater screen).
Cruise mode running for 120 seconds, set temp 220C from cold (.195 ohms coil resistance).
START
AFTER around 60s
AT THE END (->120s+)
Results:
Temps at the mesh that would conduct heat to the load, if it sat right there (without airflow, no movement):
-around 140C after 1 minute
-169C max. after 2 minutes
Second experiment:
Probe installed in the center of the male joint at the end, nearest to the heater screen (w/o airflow, no movement).
Cruise temps, time, resistance, everything the same as before.
START
AFTER around 60s
AT THE END (120s+)
Results:
-around 45C after 1 minute
-around 62C after 2 minutes
--> max. temp afterwards was 63,3C due to residual heat moving up - unit has auto-shut off by then (around 20-30 secs after cruise ended)
TL;DR: Fantastic properties... Convection FTW!!!
Enjoy your on-demand/session style full convection tubos!!
