Hey all, I have some good news regarding the Tornado stem adapter I've been working. @Duba has tested it and we are good to go. I'm asking £25.00 for them and anyone wishing to purchase one will need to contact me directly as I don't currently have a webstore. Besides here, I can be found on IG or email: scruffy.woofer@gmail.com. Ta!

Nice work on this @ScruffyWoofers - sorry if I missed the answer to this in the midst of all the rubbish, but how is it that this works with 8mm and 9mm stems? Or are the 8mm and 9mm 2 different options?

Are you providing a few extra o-rings when you sell them, or will I need to find them myself?

And I guess you've designed this to be super tight so it doesn't wobble or anything, right?

Thanks man, this is a really cool development.

This is what I’m wondering too.

I (maybe incorrectly) assumed it would be one adapter and you size the orings up and down as necessary.

Then again, given my experience attaching DV tips to 9mm stems I think I’ll get the 8mm adapter regardless and simply size up - it’s more versatile than a dedicated 9mm adapter would be. The whole 9mm stem market still isn’t really that big anyway. Not that I’m complaining as TSWooden is hard carrying that area with their stunning work ;)

I used mine with the airflow part. Could be better locked, but it is enough. There is a groove without o ring at the beginning of the part. I would like to enalarge it to put an o ring and I will be sure it will be nicely locked.

I unscrewed a little bite the bowl before cool down with the scruffy cooler and I escape the sticky shit.
I had yesteday a nice hit with the tornado, smooth, tasty, big and long vapor production, but I was unable to reproduce it. Still need training. But it is not easy to have something reproducible, because the bowl tend to unscrew when I spin and torch (and if I screw too much, the bowl stick)
If I have not something nice an reproducible with the torch soon, I will switch to the wand.
you don´t need to spin. paint the flame up and down the device. or, concentrate on the middle of the oven part.

Wow. Another great session with 4 heat-ups and 4 massive clouds. Full bowl. The procedure and roast seems very repeatable with the Wand. The vapor is never harsh on my j-hook and I haven't coughed even once. There's something going on there for sure with that second stage atomizer.

This thing hits like a truck. Because of the bowl size, I compare it to doing 2 Couchlog bowls back-to-back. Great taste too. Remarkable.

Edit:
Question - For those of you with both Wand and torch, would you say I'm missing something by not experiencing what it's like with a torch? I gotta be honest, I'm pretty blown away with the control, flavor and roasts I'm getting right now. With consistency.

Also, what's the cleaning like on this guy and how often? Never owned a Vestratto product before. Shake in a ziploc with warm iso?

Well.. yes. Heating with the Wand is just effortless and gets you good repeatable results. But with a torch you can really take advantage on the atomizer by including it in your torching. You can also get different results from different flame sizes and heating styles, so many options to try. Exclusive Wand heating makes the Tornado not exactly a one trick pony, but it takes away a ton of variety imo.

That’s what I do, but I prefer cold iso with salt. I clean my daily Vestratto drivers every two weeks or so, I probably should do it more frequently 🤷‍♂️

Ok. I could see that. Maybe if I had an Inductor I could tap different areas more easily and simulate focusing heat like a flame. I thought that the pre-heat I was told to do with the Wand would allow heat to redistribute from the tip down towards the atomizer and "prime" it so to speak. 🤷‍♂️
I could maybe even try placing the Wand there a bit.

I don't own any butane-only vapes and just never got into torches because I couldn't use them around the house. I don't wanna develop TAS syndrome either 😂. It's a whole scene I've been avoiding.

I'm just really happy I haven't combusted and everything seems really good right now. Maybe I'll experiment more soon but I'm good and satisfied right now. My last 3 vapes have been the Solo3, Angus Enhanced and now the Tornado and they've all knocked it out of the park. Bowle 2 is on the way! DHV manufacturers are killing it lately.

Ok thanks for that. Hard to tell if this thing is getting gunked up inside somewhere. I don't see any buildup anywhere after a few bowls.

I havent accidently combusted in just about a month, all I do is Qtip the residue off the bottom of the WPA and the inside of the atomizer stays wicked clean. The bottom part of the WPA gets filled with reclaim but you can just wipe it as it leaks out.

I alternate. For the effect and signature imo torch is better. I think the wand is underpowered. I can get there with pre-heating, but the torch puts in more energy faster.

I´m a Tornado slob. Once in a while I'll run a pipe cleaner through it with some iso.

Yeah, the Inductor is reported to be a perfect match as it basically mimics a (scary powerful) torch. I‘m sure you also can vary your results with the Wand, but I consider it to be more limited than the Inductor or a torch. Man.. don’t get me too interested 🙉🙈 Don’t want to find out if IHAS is an actual thing 😅

I have IWAFRPASAPS (I want a Forge repair program as soon as possible syndrome)

... but seriously, the performance of the forge with the Tornado has totally killed my will to try anything else, the torch is great but the even and quick heating the forge provides to the atomizer definitely is making magic.

To me the Inductor looks bad ass and is a great price, but the forge has killed my interest. Even though the Canada post strike will most likely further effect the timing of this, I've decided to continue using my forge in the meantime, so far I have gotten well over 550 heat cycles without issue. You get 50 Tornado bowls on a single charge of the 6ah battery and I use it on manual mode which "seems to" ( Vestrattos official advice is to NOT use your forge and tornado, this is my personal experience) circumvent the known issue of insertion/removal stimulating the magnetic field without having enough tornado inserted to dump the energy thus cooking the forge internals...

Edit: to go in a little more detail...

In automatic or Cascade mode, the forge is constantly trying to detect a load, and automatically initiate heating once detected, the issue from johns description seems to be if the load is inserted at a very specific small time frame in the automatic load detection process, it will stimulate the magnetic field increasing its overall power without having enough of the load inserted to take on the energy.

In manual mode, you insert the load before heating begins, and when you click the large button heating is initiated, you are able to remove the load properly as well once the forge indicates to remove the load. This seems to avoid the above mentioned issue.( Vestrattos official advice is to NOT use your forge and tornado, this is my personal experience, advance at your own risk)

Are you using the Wand or a torch in the meantime while waiting on the Forge? Edit: nvm, I see you're using the Forge in Manual mode. I'm very happy with the Wand's performance after a short pre-heat. The vapor is wonderfully smooth. It makes me wonder how much better the experience could be with a torch or the Forge/Inductor? 🤷‍♂️

The legend of the Wand grows in my mind. How is it that the Wand doesn't suffer from this flaw? I've heard some say their Wand throws an error sometimes with the Tornado (not my experience) but that was remedied with an insert. If we speculate that this Wand error is due to the same issue, it's interesting that the Wand seems to handle it as something non-fatal.

I was using the Ronxs torch, but now I'm only using the Forge.

I believe the wand simply cannot put out enough power to kill itself like the forge can, and the firmware probably has more logic and safeguards to prevent it if it does. The wand is mass manufactured so they must account for things like that. I do enjoy kicking the power down and doing the massive flavourful rips, but I never find a need to reheat, I can always cache it in one heat cycle. I have also seen reports that the battery on the wand can only handle 6-8 bowls, I'd like to hear your feedback on battery life once you have an idea.

I am very impressed with the wand though, the fact it can handle this beast at all is a miracle, it sucked balls at heating the anvil.

Sounds plausible. I'm happy there's no error.

Wow, ok. I'm getting big flavorful rips but I need that re-heat after. It really doesn't bother me though because re-heats are Dynavap speed and I'm loading pretty full bowls.

Will do... so far I'm on my 6th bowl and the battery is still 2 bars. I've read about people getting 18 bowls or more though.

Same here. It took forever with the Dani and was marginally better with the Stunner but we're still talking about heating in the 45-60 sec range. I've heard the thermocore Anvil was better but the Tornado is the most efficient by far.

I don't like to torch in only one point. I noticed that with some of my vape the avb is a little bite more darker at this point. But maybe you right with the tornado.
I improve a little bite my technics and had better hits, but still not perfect. I stoped to try to remove the bowl when it is hot because it stick everytime. I put it in the scruffy cooler and wait 5 minutes that it is completly cool and no problem to unsrew. I don't know if the other users have the same problem ?

Yes the bowl sticking is a known thing. It’s spoken about on the Vestratto site -

“Threaded bowls should be inserted into a cool oven, tightened to snug and then released 1/16th of a turn to prevent binding, CAUTION: The TORNADO has the longest internal copper layer we've ever produced and expands and contracts significantly so do not insert threaded bowls into hot ovens. This could cause threadlock and binding.”

This also used to happen with the Anvil if you’d torch the oven and then insert the bowl, rather than torch with the bowl already in

Threw a party last night and the tornado was the center of attention. Back to back bowls were not an issue. I have a big magnet to get the cooldown click after each bowl. Every person was surprised by their first exhale. Thank goodness for the silicone ring because the entire WPA got HOT.

Also, there’s a break in period with the click disc. Out the box, the two clicks are very close to each other where the first click is at a pretty high temp. After break in, there’s more separation in the clicks, where the first click is at a lower temp, allowing you to control the temp more

I don't understant why my last message was deleted ? I only spoke about the tornado !
I'm better at dealing with heat lock and mostly avoid it. But I have a #13 wrench and grip pliers next to my desk.

To all the fine denizens of FC I would like to submit a video diorama of my last session with the Tornado!

It all started when I fancied a little wake'n'bake on a lazy Sunday morning. I calmly reached for my Tornado. I sat down and scooped up a nice full bowl from my grinder and loaded it. Then I laid my hands on my trusty glass sherlock, Dusty. She's a peach.

A few flashes of the Wand later, I was ready to drink from the beautiful vapor I was already smelling. I drank deeply from the milky river I saw flowing through the glass. How is this possible? There's so much... It's so white... is this real?
200.gif

I'm reeling from the massive exhale. That really caught me off guard.... I'm supposed to be doing something... oh.yes! reheat.. 8 flashes... inhale deeply!
kicking martial arts GIF

I'm all punch drunk now.... reeling from the blows... vapor spilling out my nose.... chest is tight....must reheat... 8 flashes later
