Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
Finally got my TM2 back from repair land, and it couldn’t have come sooner. I had them do an overhaul after I accidentally shattered the upper glass sleeve.
What I immediately noticed is that it runs a bit hotter and retains heat longer. From what I’ve read, this is due to the new stainless sleeve. I’m pretty sensitive to heat and have usually kept it set just a hair below 2 to get the flavor and extraction I like. After a few sessions today, I found myself turning it down to a solid 1 on the dial to get great, tasty clouds.
Another observation is that the unit holds heat much longer. In the past, after letting off the button, I would get another wispy hit before needing to press and hold again. Now, after letting off the button, I can take another massive hit immediately with no added heat. I have to say, I like it better this way since I can get great clouds without that extra heat.
Another change is that they upgraded the button to the newer design. It’s not uncomfortable, but it does take a bit more pressure to press and activate. My old button could be pressed by simply palming the whole device and giving it a slight squeeze. Now, you have to place a finger directly on it. It’s not as demanding as my Firewood 9, where my finger gets tired from holding the button, but you do have to pay more attention to it.
All and all, I am happy with the improvements, and so glad to have my faithful DD back in house.
