@LongDraw I had this happen again and holding the button did not work. What I am thinking happened previously is I had the battery out long enough for the delay you mentioned.Or, you can save yourself a few minutes by holding the button whilst you tighten the battery cap.
For the rest of you new TM owners, if you change out batteries and there is no response, remove the battery, wait for a bit (How long exactly TBD) and then re-insert the battery as @LongDraw advised.
I think the length of time is minutes, perhaps has something to do with the circuitry that prevents the TM from firing with a weak battery?Can't say 100%, but if anyone does experince the same, i would recommend at least trying to leave the battery out for a bit, few mins and even overnight if needed. Obviously to long of a wait isn't acceptable and would need exchanged, but if it is a small window may not bother some like myself.
