TinyMight / TM 2

Been looking forever for this confirmation. Happened spontaneously. Restating what happened w/ mine to clarify for others.
That's what I ended up doing after pushing the screen down onto the coil.

My Tinymight lost its mind and went super-nova when the screen was touching the coil, instantly generating massive heat and igniting my herb; it actually burned a hole thru the screen! I couldn't get it to power back up after that and figured that it was likely toast, so I tore it down and did a thorough cleaning. I even removed the coil from the glass tube, took the pins out, flattened it out and thoroughly cleaned it. It was a MASSIVE pain getting that coil wound back up with the pins in place; I highly do NOT recommend it. :p It's been working flawlessly ever since, though!
Must be what happened. 1. Huge ploom of smoke 2. Took of stem lid 3. Inverted 4. Heater glass fell out of the stem hole 5. Heater partially uncoiled 6. Bent exterior rim (rises above coil slightly) a little by attempting to fit it back thru retaining rods/pins w/o taking it all out (was also hard to get the glass back in) 7. Had to take it all out 8. The surface of the coil melted in spots (see pics) 8. Same as @SixStringToker , royal PITA to do w/o breaking rods. 9. Received replacement parts I repeatedly req/demanded (in Dec) the next day (March 10thish) as the unit was 'imperfect'. Didn't send all though and not enough to cover my loss of not being able to use stems ordered.

It came to me assembled this way. I didn't switch anything around. The rougher looking of the 2 is from an Ent exchange, broken pins & haptic. Probably same thing happened b/c the top of that screen was black too in the same spot. I fixed that one except a retaining rod/pin is broken. It stays together with just one in. *Anyone have an idea for a replacement pin that won't melt or scratch the glass. The diameter is the same as a small safety pin.*

Trying to comply w/ quotes/posts.
Delta 3D studios 18650 battery caps fit the tinymight stems nicely and come in packs of 2 so you can have multiple loaded stems sealed on both sides. @Skinku posted a interesting stem the other day, how do you like that one skinku?
Ace Hardware chair tips fit well. Easy on and off but still firm fit. 4pack for less than $4...if you're ok w/ hodge podge.

Would anyone be able to give me pictures step by step of the heater chamber parts? I feel like I'm missing something. At this point I don't think it's a heater issue, but I could be wrong. Thanks for any replies and help.
Did you get the info you need? The Coil stays in place b/c of the glass surrounding it and the restraining pins, not the screw. Extreme caution/measures should be taken to ensure U are in control of how quickly/slowly the rest comes apart once the screw is removed. Mine is completely broken down now if you need more pics. Did you get your o-ring?

Received my tinymight back from repair today (button had recessed inside the machine)

However, it's clearly a different unit, and not a new one at that

Wondered if anyone else had this?
Hold fire!

I emailed and got a response, it's a brand new unit apparently! I had assumed it was someone elses as its finished so smoothly and has very little of that fishy woody smell (my 2 original units were both pretty rough, and stinky when they initially arrived)

Welp, pulled the trigger on one of these little demons last night. As always, the discussion here was quite helpful, thanks! @Shit Snacks took your advice on the batteries and charger a few pages back. I got the stock WPAs but hoping to find some good ones from other vendors also (not sure if the RBT stems are readily available anywhere atm). Looking forward to some j-hook milking with this one!

You could simply order the broken glass for around 5 bucks and replace it by yourself I guess.

edit:
Thanks for your reply. I could be wrong but the one you linked isn't the correct part, the broken piece is the glass which surrounds the element itself. Either way, I have returned it to their factory free of cost so just going to wait for what they say.

So just received the TM... pretty underwhelmed atm tbh. I can only get one good pull, the rest no vapor... I check the bud and it still has life in it. What am I doing wrong

Is the battery fully charged? What number are you on? You're packing fairly loose, yeah?

I’d try temp stepping (move up after 6), and if you get all the way up to 10 and it’s not at least well extracted you might want to look at the suggestions in this thread for people with performance issues.

The main ones I think have been ensuring good contact from the metal tab under the top plate (which I think they were doing in a better way on new units so that’s less likely to be the problem), cleaning other contacts like the battery lid, and ensuring that o-rings are in the right places to stop unwanted airflow are probably the main fixes for performance issues I’ve seen.

There is also a way to recalibrate it to make it hotter or cooler, but that should be the last thing you check because if you use that while there’s another issue still going on you’ll just be hiding it from yourself instead of fixing it. If it was just calibrated too cool though, that should take care of it. If you have to do that they want you to contact them for instructions (no need to open it or do anything unusual with it for that process though).

Have you gone above 6? Keep in mind that the "usable" range on the dial can vary greatly from unit to unit.

Unit A might get light vapor at 3, clouds at 5, and scorching at 8+.

Unit B might get light vapor at 6, clouds at 8, and doesn't even scorch at 10.

You need to find that range for your unit and if that range is not totally contained within the 1-10 dial, there is a calibration sequence that the tm folks can give you that will "slide" your range up and down the dial as needed.

EDIT TO ADD: or what Vaporware posted while I was typing. :)

Honestly it could be so many things. Try it on 10 and see how it does. Besides that, I'd take it apart and make sure all of the parts and especially o rings are there. It's been relatively common for TM units to come without certain o rings. After that, search this thread for fixes -- cleaning the battery connection, shimming it with a piece of tin foil to get a better connection, making sure the screw holding it together is all tight, all o rings are in, etc. There's a sequence to supposedly "up" the heat, although it didn't work for me even when doing it like 50+ times.

You shouldn't have to do this on a 300$ product, but unfortunately you do. I've heard that the customer support is much better now though, so that's also a route you can take if you'd prefer not to mess with it.

Edit: Also wanted to add that the battery cap needs to be flush. It's the little cap that had like a "coin slot" on it. If it's not (like mine wasn't), you need to take it out and oil the threads (I had to sand mine a little bit) to get it to screw down flush

Battery lid doesn't necessarily need to be flush, mine is not flush, no problems there...

You also might want to let us know if it is a new unit from TM or a unit you bought from someone else. If it is a new unit from TM it really shouldn't need any of the repair/update techniques we talk about. If it is NOT a new unit than troubleshooting and applying fixes is appropriate and we will be glad to make suggestions. Very few units have come as new and still needed much massaging, but most units that have developed a problem from use have been relatively easily fixed...

This is actually my point. If I got a new unit with these problems it would likely go back to the maker, but a used unit with such problems I would certainly try to fix myself with instruction found in this thread. I have fixed my own a couple times now and I have never had to totally disassemble it.

That's nice and all, and might work now that CS seems a bit better, but when I got my TM it was a 3+ month response time. Probably took around 5 months for a total return. But yes, I'd probably send it back if I were him instead of messing with it.

For anyone that runs their TM dry like I do (for discreteness and to not have the kids asking questions), any stem recommendations to get away from the CU screens? They seem to need to be cleaned so often that it's actually pretty annoying. I saw someone recommend the Grav Upline Taster which looks like a chillum, but not sure how well they work. I typically grind my herb for vapes, but looks like it would suck through. I'm pretty sure back in the day whenever I used chillums I didn't grind because of this reason.

Any other recommendations if not that piece?

I bought this unit from someone on entexchange

Can anyone care to share some self troubleshooting? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I bought this unit from a very kind person on Reddit thread entexchange. Only seem to get one good hit and the rest little to no vapor..

I just posted a bunch of things for you to check and try. Also, they aren't a very "kind" user if they sold you a defective vape knowing it didn't work too great, so I'd probably see about getting your money back before crawling down this rabbit hole.
