Been looking forever for this confirmation. Happened spontaneously. Restating what happened w/ mine to clarify for others.
It came to me assembled this way. I didn't switch anything around. The rougher looking of the 2 is from an Ent exchange, broken pins & haptic. Probably same thing happened b/c the top of that screen was black too in the same spot. I fixed that one except a retaining rod/pin is broken. It stays together with just one in. *Anyone have an idea for a replacement pin that won't melt or scratch the glass. The diameter is the same as a small safety pin.*
Must be what happened. 1. Huge ploom of smoke 2. Took of stem lid 3. Inverted 4. Heater glass fell out of the stem hole 5. Heater partially uncoiled 6. Bent exterior rim (rises above coil slightly) a little by attempting to fit it back thru retaining rods/pins w/o taking it all out (was also hard to get the glass back in) 7. Had to take it all out 8. The surface of the coil melted in spots (see pics) 8. Same as @SixStringToker , royal PITA to do w/o breaking rods. 9. Received replacement parts I repeatedly req/demanded (in Dec) the next day (March 10thish) as the unit was 'imperfect'. Didn't send all though and not enough to cover my loss of not being able to use stems ordered. That's what I ended up doing after pushing the screen down onto the coil.
My Tinymight lost its mind and went super-nova when the screen was touching the coil, instantly generating massive heat and igniting my herb; it actually burned a hole thru the screen! I couldn't get it to power back up after that and figured that it was likely toast, so I tore it down and did a thorough cleaning. I even removed the coil from the glass tube, took the pins out, flattened it out and thoroughly cleaned it. It was a MASSIVE pain getting that coil wound back up with the pins in place; I highly do NOT recommend it. It's been working flawlessly ever since, though!
