Glass is a bad a conductor of heat but once you get the glass hot, it definitely does transfer heat, that's the whole concept with those hash pipes that you heat the glass poker and then stick it into the hash to cook the hash - it's getting the glass hot enough that's the challenge as it takes a lot of calories to get the glass hot.
But wouldn't metal, a good conductor, work better?

I’m playing around with the Thermal Twist with rubies. Ruby Twist, I guess. But i’m not seeing any twist at all. Anyone have it and can compare?

It hits like a truck though. And got it for 160£
Yes, I would agree. Got my Ruby Twist head a week ago. Get a very gentle twist, and I mean gentle but it's hard to notice. No complaints from me though! Lower temps get lovely terpy hits and when you then crank it up a bit you get lovely clouds and like you say....hits like a truck! A little stir compensates for lack of twist action.

I agree that glass isn't the best choice, in fact as someone who adds some level of conduction to everything I don't have any glass bowls accept for one, a Taroma 360 glass bowl. When I use** (used I haven't in a while) my 360 with the glass bowl, I used to heat soak the herbs in the glass bowl as the thing took ages to heat up and didn't really add the conduction I wanted unless it was heated for like a minute. I got the T360 titanium bowl and you just put the diffuser on and start to draw as by the time you take your second breath the bowl has heated up and started to conduct to the herbs.

So metal is definitely the choice for conduction over glass but if you put the time/calories in, you can use glass, I just personally don't think the effort and the loss (heat soaking and loosing terps) is worth it when using glass as it takes so long to get meaningful conduction. I wouldn't recommend it... or even advertise it as a "feature"... unless there is an expectation, like with the T360 that you "heat soak" the herbs in the bowl to also heat the bowl to add conduction.

Most people using a Freight Train or Thermal Twist will have finished the bowl before the glass heats up enough to to really add any value from a conduction perspective - I never could get through a bowl without having to stir the thing on the Freight train using a glass bowl.

Heat soaking a glass bowl for a minute gives plenty radiation to preheat the material. Although it's more gentle than conduction with a metal bowl, it allows to melt the glands waxy membranes before hitting it.

I agree that it take time and calories but I really don't feel like I am loosing much aromatic compounds in the process. I don't have any experience with the thermal twist but I always allow the herbo Ti to heat soak the filled bowl for a minute and it always make me sneeze on the firsts hits.

Can you guys share what temps you are using for the terpy hits and the clouds? I am a new ThermalTwist owner who could use a little help so I don't waste my medicine in attempting to treat my chronic pain.\

Thanks

Hi there

I am a terp chaser and currently down to 225 using the microdose diffuser bowl.

If you are worried about wasting your meds I would definitely recommend the ruby twist with the microdose diffuser bowl. Minimum amount of herb for maximum result.

Any one know of compatible bowls for the Thermal/Rubies Twist? Im looking for something that will raise the level of the screen higher than the stock glass bowl that comes in the kit. I already have the microdose bowl btw, but I'm looking for something in the 18mm sizing like the glass bowl that comes with it, metal or glass.

After picking up the Ruby Twist earlier this week, I've been loving it absolutely stupid. I've been stupidly baked for the last 48 hours, and have used nowhere near the amount of herb that I usually would to be this wrecked.

A couple of highlights:
- the microdose bowl is fantastic. I've pushed the screen about a mil below being flush on the rim of the bowl - so it holds about 0.05, and it's the perfect size to fill the bong and clear it in one draw. And the effect of 0.05 might be the best I've found on any device.

- I got the Ruby Twist for the microdose functionality, but of course I gave it a go with the full bowl. Even that doesn't take as much herb as the Screwball bowl, and it's probably similar to the CH Shovelhead. The glass passthrough that comes with it has one of those "liners" around the circumference of the bowl which shows you pretty much where the injector goes to, and acts as a "line" to fill to. For best results you're not tamping at all - just putting in the appropriate amount with the scoop, then giving the bowl a couple of taps with the scoop. The reason for this is that you obviously want the flower pretty "loose" to optimise the twist action... which is absolutely mesmerising! As I say, I got it for microdosing, but there's something really hypnotic about the twist action that makes you really want to use it that way. (Your microdose bowl goes inside the injector, so you can't see the twist action.)

- I've never been a terp/flavour chaser, probably cos I haven't had the right combination of flower and device. I started the Ruby Twist with a hybrid Blueberry OG x Gorilla Glue, then I gave it a go with some Black Cherry Punch. It's a flavour experience like nothing I've ever felt before.

I've been using it with my Table Top Bong, alternating between the 5-arm tree for maximum diffusion, and the diagonal slit stem for a combination of diffusion and movement of water. The 5-arm is just so perfect with the microdose bowl; the size of the bowl, the diffusion of the stem, the size of the bong - it's like it was all made to work together.

Today's experiment is to see how it goes with the Screwball bowl, which it fits in almost perfectly, and goes super deep. I think if you want to want to really "macrodose" with the Ruby Twist the titanium screwball bowl will be more condusive to it than the glass Ruby Twist bowl/passthrough, but I haven't tried it yet. I think this would especially be the case if you turned on both vapes and used the Screwball diffuser head to heat soak the bowl and then use the Ruby Twist to extract it.

I absolutely love this device. I can't really compare it to the Screwball in terms of which I prefer - they both do really different things. The Screwball is just massive extractions, while the Ruby Twist is a flavour sipping microdoser. I do suspect the combination of the Screwball and Ruby Twist largely leaves my Flowerpot B1 injector a little redundant. I received the diffuser housing last week - I think I might turn the B1 into a diffuser, cos I think it then finds itself a niche "between" the Ruby Twist and Screwball in terms of flower use and in terms of effect.

Happy to take any questions.

I'll admit, I never bothered with the Twist because it was only available in a full kit here in AU... And I really don't need more PIDs and coils lying around lol.

But lucky me, I just saw W&W have the Ruby Twist housing for sale as a standalone product! Grabbed one straight away along with the micro dose bowl - love the design. I really don't need another ball vape but eh what the hell 😂

@AndyO Do you find it does a good job with most 18mm injector bowls? Assuming you've got a few lying around? I didn't bother buying the 'official' pass-through bowl as I've accumulated more than enough injector bowls already lol. How does the 'twisting' action (which I'm assuming is pretty mild) fare with the micro dose bowl? Seems like a basket screen would impede it.

Oh, good question!

No, it's important to note that the injector is bigger than, for example, my B1 injector. The Ruby Twist goes over and around the microdose bowl, but the B1 head isn't big enough to go over it.

So the Ruby Twist I'm using with the stock glass bowl, the microdose bowl, or the titanium Screwball bowl; with the B1 I'm using the titanium shovel head, one of the standard Elev8er size glass bowls, or I'm using the Ruby Twist stock bowl, which the B1 goes super deep inside and works incredibly well with.

I just put an order in for the ruby twist and the micro dose bowl. The only thing is I have this friend who says i should have bought the screwball as it is much more powerful than this but it is £100 more and i can afford that but i bought this. I might get the screwball later on.

It should be here by Saturday.

I have both and have found them to be really different experiences. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either of them; I don't think you'd be disappointed with both. But the Screwball is for extracting big rips using a lot of herb, while the Ruby Twist is a lot more versatile in how you can use it. I probably get equally baked with them, but the RT and microdose bowl is "more active" ie. I'm using it more, but with less herb.

I use, love, and recommend them both more than any other vape. (Those 2 are probably tied with the Anvil as my all time faves.)

It's worth noting that the PID is modular, and the Screwball is available in a kit without the PID. (At least it used to be, I haven't checked since I bought mine.)

It's also worth repeating that Vapvana are working on a microdose bowl, so this advice about the Screwball's strengths could change very soon.

Anybody know of a metal bowl that works with the Ruby twist?

It fits inside the titanium screwball bowl, but it's sitting balls deep in the flower to do so (ie. it's sitting in it/"buried" in it). It does NOT go inside the CH Shovelhead at all.

My RT just arrived and it is so so good. I ran it at 330 with no combustion with the microdose bowl with no combustion but then read the microdose bowl needs to be used at 275C lol

The bowl you get with it ti says to run at 330C but i feel like just running it at 330C with the microdose bowl until ti combusts then run it lower :D

what temps are you using @AndyO ??

I have a range of ball vapes, but this (Rubies Twist) suits my current tolerance perfectly with the microdose bowl and macrodose bowl. It's just so convenient if you don't want two ball vapes plugged in at the same time.
