Happy Holiday friends!

I am sorry that I have been absent from this thread (and the boards in general) for a bit. Life at the ER has been pretty turbulent and I have just been busier than I would like.

However, I had to log in and make a special post! I had been casually speaking at work with one of our members of the hospital security and he started showing me things he had made on a wood lathe, which was one of his new hobbies. I showed him some pictures of the Apollo and brought him in my broken glass stem (the shorty). He surprised me today with 3 stems he cranked out after receiving the stem from me last night. I am very impressed! Two of the stems fit a shade loose so I snipped some rings from silicone tubing I had and that has helped the stems to hold firmly in place.

The airpath is a little narrower and so will not fit on a m2m joint as many of us are using. However, it happens to pair pretty perfectly with a wooden/glass roasting tube made for me by our own @Alan! This is even better for me because it allows me to take in the beauty and function of Alan's piece regardless of whether I'm using my Underdog or Apollo!

What a kind act from this dude. He won't take money from me at all for the work but I gotta get him something.

Unfortunately I was also testing out my apollo with a completely bloked airpath using a slice of silicone from one of @Ratchett's silicone plugs. I evidently did too well and encountered a lot of resistance before combusting. Sooo much stuff to soak now :\

Just so Dab HAppy!
Where are you @villekille2? I have been trying to contact through your website for about a week now with no luck. Just want to find out when you will have the 120mm in stock and wanted to place an order. I hope all is well for you Ville and I hope to hear from you soon!

That's amazing, I love when people do nice stuff for no reason.

Also as much as I love the glass and led playing off the vapor, the wood looks really good. He did a great job with those.

@virtualpurple man those wood stems are super neato. Really jellious.

@GTAVaper i cut out some silicone tubing and replaced the back screen with it. The restricted airflow makes it milk faster and the vapor is no more hot than before.

And underdog oversized NonG fits perfectly in the tube, im going to try this mod after i reuse all the nice reclaim buildup at the bottom of the tube.

I would still like to make a wooden door for it as well, just need to set some time aside for trial and error.

Glad to hear that the back plate mod is working for you!

The vapor won't be any hotter......but I believe that the Apollo unit itself will build up and retain heat quicker and longer and also get hotter at the back end as a result......if you are running it for periods over 15-20 min long since the heat cannot escape out of the back.

The quicker heat up and maintaining a high heat soak is going to help the performance initially for sure.....but a sliding hatch would be nice to provide more cooling once the device has built up heat over a longer period and becomes very hot at the back end.

I wish you luck with the oversized Nong's they do fit in the slot and the 18mm male end sleeves very nicely into the Apollo tube but it is the other end that is problematic.

A Solo bowl with silicone wrapped around it does fit nicely into the bottom half of the herb chamber but the UD Nong is smaller diameter and doesn't nest in very well with 1/2" OD tubing and the 3/4" OD tubing is too thick to fit into the herb chamber bottom half with the steel tip sleeved into the silicone.....unless you find a way to shave very evenly about 1/2 mm from all around the silicone's OD.

I also thought of using a thinner strip of 3/4" tubing as a gasket at the top of the steel portion of the Nong so it would press up against the top of the herb chamber and seal it that way but it is very finicky to cut and find the proper width so that the bottom of the steel tip will touch the bottom of the herb chamber screen.

After fiddling with it I concluded that the Solo stems just fit better and have a more appropriate sized bowl. The oversized Nong bowl is too big IMO.....and I didn't want to play around with the depth of my screen since it is so well installed already.

If you get it to work .....then give yourself a pat on the back......and post some pics/vids of the mod.....I'd love to see how it works.

But if not, then Solo stems are only $10.....and if you have the long Apollo stem then they work as is and don't have to be cut down to fit.

EDIT: Just make sure you don't get the bent Solo stem ....lol :)

Also, I see that you have pre-ordered the Milaana. I am optimistic that the Milaana 18mm glass stems might work - in both directions - with the male joint fitting into the herb chamber bottom and the tube end threading upwards through the Apollo tube. Might have to use a Solo gasket (red ring in the video of my mod) and maybe the shorter glass stem so that the Apollo tube can fit against an 18mm male joint.

Or, the other way around with a piece of silicone around the tube part and nesting into the bottom of the herb chamber and the joint facing upward and being used as the gong for a female 18mm joint......might have to use the shorter Apollo tube (or none at all) and silicone spacer(s) around the longer 18mm Milaana mouthpiece.

Just something that I am looking forward to trying when I get my own 18mm glass with my Milaana pre-order.

Yeah never had a solo or ever used one dispite their popularity, i might just drop the 10$ on a stem just to give it a shot, but been trying to mod with supplies in hand before i buy more stuff. SO is going to hurt me if i keep adding more items to the mail vape train hahaha (so many pre-orders + acessories.) I did order some dugummed hemp wick from elf wick to mop up that sweet reclaim instead of just cleaning.

I too am probably going to order a few solo stems to mess with. @GTAVaper seems to be having great success and I need to jump on that bandwagon.

However, as I mentioned, I combusted pretty heavy last night. I guess the slice of ratchett's plug that I used worked a little too well, as I did experience a fair amount of draw restriction and, not wanting to waste any vapor through an otherwise AWESOME session, I drew real hard and immediately got a lung full of smoke.

I removed the silicone because I'm not eager for a repeat performance. I am trying to think of something to try in its place. Perhaps a steel coin that I could add air-holes to until I get the desired resistance? A slice of cork?

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to get the scent or taste of combustion out of the pretty wood stem I had been using. I may make a post as I haven't found the answer through google searching, but if anyone has some suggestions I will be all ears!

As @shitsnacks has said, the bottom air intake might work better if there was some sort of adjustable resistor plate or something by which people can tailor their experience.

As many of us have said, the vape works great stock, but I am kinda conditioned to be a cloud chaser and I love seeing my bubblers whitewalled, and this vape does require a little modding to get it done easier.

But even when my bubbler isn't milked out, the vapor I exhale is always bigger than I expect, and hot damn is it potent!

Combustion is always a possibility with the Apollo but I've only done it three times and I've had two chambers of glass to warn me before it hits me so I can back off quickly.

Sometimes I can back off quickly enough that I can disconnect the ash catcher and I still have vapor in the DHMobius while the ash catcher is filled with smoke :)

But after putting the silicone over the back plate I also lowered my vaping power to 3-6 and the longer, I vape the lower I put the power level because the heat soak and ambient vape temp will climb as a result of both the prolonged use and sealed back air inlet. I then will boost 5-10s before starting my draw and depending on the vapor taste and the visual flow rate I see come out of the Solo stem - I will back off on the boost or keep it on.

For me it is not a question of avoiding combustion completely.....it is how close I get to it intentionally.....and then ...oooops :D

It's because I've seen the ABV extremely dark WITHOUT combusting and so I then push it just a little too long thinking that I'm not quite there yet.....and that is when I end up with ash.

Even if things seems to be going OK.....when you get to a certain taste and are pushing it a little too long to boost to get the vapor flow you want to see.....it's time to stop.

Also perhaps the universal silicone plug constricts the flow more than a bare Apollo tube on an 18mm male joint?

For cleaning the wood tube......maybe try plugging one end of the tube with a wine cork, pour some ISO in the other and cap and shake the ISO back and forth in the tube. Also, maybe add some large crystal sea salt or silica sand when shaking to pull off any residue.

Pipe cleaners and ISO pretty well does it for the glass but I've never had to clean wood of combustion smell before. Please let us know what you find most success with.

Hey peeps!

Apollo landed here few days ago and am glad he did. VAS seems to be more accurate with time. This one is a monster hitter, no more, no less. Like a portable Daisy but in a session vape, instant convection hits, vey bigs, few to no restriction to airflow.

The very first first uses of the device are an heavy fog you do not remember really clearly. I know that Vapolution 3.0 is on the throne for a long time and herbalizer is still in the closet and that the first sessions with Apollo were instantly satisfying.

The Apollo is a jewel of technology with the touch and vibrating tech. I am still pushing the limit of the batteries but i am always putting them to charger before Apollo told me to and he never did once now.

The hot crucible is a problem to deal for fast reload and the air stem Milky mod reduces volume of the bowl if you only fill the solo/air stem, because you can still load the crucible and it improves the bowl volume by adding both bowls! I will test it very soon.

As i really worked hard, i found a top notch modding with:
-this air stem , two size of silicone wrapped around him, inserted in the 80 mm stock tube
-One orange high temp PV O-ring for solo
-The top part of the crucible without its filter
-One orange high temp PV O-ring for solo
-Other side of 80mm tube is plugged with silicone tubing with a 14mm jointed mouthpiece

All of this arrangement make a perfect tool for hard vaping, fast reloading and making disappearing the finger burned by the hot crucible. In fact i let the bottom part of the crucible inserted during warm up time.

this combination brings infinite clouds, really amazed. permits to take the stem out if necessary. It brings one limit, you have to be carefull of the top part of crucible burning the scratch material on the top of the tube housing.

Really congrats to @villekille2 which made this.

Yes, I was sick when I first got my Apollo and had communicated with Ville about what I thought was a defect because I hadn't tried the Apollo yet at that time.

He responded by telling me that he hadn't realized that the thin 1/10 mm steel shielding would be so difficult to drill and that he wished that he had gotten the holes laser drilled with the rest of the laser cutting of the thin steel shield.

Maybe when he runs out of shield pieces his next order could very well include a laser drilled boost LED hole?

But it doesn't detract from the function and is mostly out of sight.

I owned a Solo before and forgot about the shorter Air stem.....which could come in handy for the shorter Apollo tube it seems.

But I do like the longer tube and Solo stem because you can also watch the vapor stream more easily while vaping which provides some nice visual feedback.

Curious what OD/ID silicone tubing that is and where you got it?

It looks like it is less than 3/4" OD by a small amount and larger than a 1/2" OD.

The only problem is that it puts silicone in the air path and I found that doing this with the minivap flexicones added a slightly unpleasant taste and smell from the hot silicone.

Can you taste/smell anything from the hot silicone in your setup?

It's the slicone that comes on nano stem.
Dont know od/id
No change in flavor that I've noticed .
Still testing though.

@GTAVaper had some good suggestions with iso. If that doesn't work I would just suggest using some high proof booze instead. Some people have suggested I clean combustion flavored wood with jack daniels to help offset/mask the burnt flavor if it couldn't be removed. Though it should help remove it too.

@Vapodudule i cant take credit for the solo tube mod @GTAVaper has been the real engineer of the apollo so far. @virtualpurple has a real sweet set up too.

All the possibilities and the ways it can be used is really really fun. Keeps the toy fresh and interesting. I also really like how easy it is to adapt this peice, seems like every user has new ideas they are bringing to the table. I sit at work dreaming of how im going to adapt the apollo next.

The vap cap is modular and i got mine last night pretty cool so far. But the apollo is the real mod peice so many options and set ups already, and not even been out that long. I have seen vapes out for 3 or 10 years that dont have this many options and mod.
Once @villekille2 catches up with orders it will be interesting to see what comes out from his end as far as accessories/mods, im sure the community here has given him some ideas.
