I think even roasting has lots to do with what goes on under, in and over your load.

So what happens if you get a coil like this . this is from my Timber .

Is the spiral walls touching each other on the outer circle? Does it do anything if it touches? Should it be that close ? I personally find it too close for comfort , maybe a ocd/add thing , my iHeat coil is as perfect as your logo

Mod ain’t showing anything abnormal that I know of... here is a second pic taken just now. I put the light in the vent hole closer to the area in question. With some angling, I can see the space in between now, still close at one one spot .

But yeah I’d say even roasting as lots to do with what goes on in or down the coil prior to what goes on over the coil. :2c:

Maybe spend more time on coils... get those tight like myiHeat coil !!! Its posted on the iHeat thread, go like it lol .. the coil is the heart of the vape! With that said my Timber Elite is practically flawless , something exceptional for a hand crafted object.

Got the batch so prepped that all that is left is the 4 solder connections and attaching the cover plates with each build. This means I'm gonna get some tube turning time. Right now this is a fun experiment, but I hope something useful comes from it - specifically a short Timber Tube, that's cost effective, perfect for the Timber design, and easy to build. The one stubby tube I did build has been awesome at low wattage or temp. My first challenge will be recreating this over and over. Once I can build a consistent tube, it'll be testing time.

Volunteers PM me (LB Elite or Timber owners)...

@cpk , I tried the glow thing , I didn’t see any glow . I had tried that before with one of my Classics but no success. I’m protan (not colour blind but some shades I have more difficulty) perhaps it glows and I just don’t see it.

I get how one area of the coil might heat more if two loops are closer to another .

On one of my Classics , I had close loops as such and managed to even them out when opening up my LB to check the insides.

I could do same here but don’t really feel like opening up my Timber . The above posts either missed or ignored so I’ll just keep using it as is.

Timber seems hotter then my LB Elite , I’m thinking mostly due to differences in DNA board settings. On the Timber , the Elite Cool and Elite Medium Trends are not there. My LB Classic had them . I think the TCR was set differently for Elite Cool/Medium/Hot . It
Made things cooler/warmer or slower/faster. The Timber as a Elite Hot and Watts Trend . I’m not sure what the Watt trend even does as you change between Temp & Watts in Profile , not Trend settings.

Otherwise , LB Elite and Timber are two very similar vapes aside from the form factor of course. Timber feels more like a portable being slimmer in size, easy to grip and carry in hand. LB Elite is more like a prestigious portable/home vape you bring out with your cognac or pocket in your 3piece suit.

As for performance, quite equal , battery life does seem a tad better, if that’s due to programming or shape of vape, I can’t tell . It would need the same file downloaded in both vapes maybe to better compare.

Chamber area does remain cooler longer on Timber , it does get warm if using it heavily. Having the chamber over the chip board and battery vs in between them does seem beneficial here, I don’t think program files could have impact here.. although if running Temp profile and ohm and tcr better adjusted , I suppose the vape
Might run at lower wattage and remain cooler if working less hard to get same results . Dunno..

Seems there has been a slight dirth of Vape Porn as of late, so thought I’d throw a quick pic of my Waple Tall Boy Timber to celebrate a beautiful fall day.

Pretty much haven't used anything else since day 2. I love this thing! Travels well, goes everywhere with me and keeps me very happy.

EDIT: @P.A.M. You said “Timber feels more like a portable being slimmer in size, easy to grip and carry in hand. LB Elite is more like a prestigious portable/home vape you bring out with your cognac or pocket in your 3piece suit.”.

That is a great way to describe the difference. Well done!

You might also want to change the name on DNA graphic to Timber Elite .

What is the difference between Elite Hot and Watts Trend ? Different tcr? Shouldn’t it have other titles then Hot and Watts if the case ?

I change from Temp to Watts modes in Profile settings , not trend. Does that mean we have to or are “supposed” to switch both Profile And Trend settings to switch between Temp or Watt to use it like you do , @Bravesst ? Do you switch between Elite Hot and Watts in Trend ?

Edit : Elite Hot and Watts in Coil Material settings , not in Trend settings, sorry. Same question , replace Trend with Coil Material

Edit #2 : I notice cold ohm setting between Profiles are different . Any other users as such ? Which profile is the true cold ohm reading ?

I tried to look under the battery back plate as they were written there before but it seems to be glued in place now vs other Vapwood vapes.. eeew glue lol

Edit #3 : lol! quick 5 seconds puff, enjoy !

@P.A.M. Aren’t the cold ohms written on a sticker on the inside of the battery cover? They are on mine.

No sticker here , Sir. Thank you for the suggestion still.

It’s not a big deal I just wonder which is the true cold ohm . When I tried the Spent Profile this afternoon it asked me if wanted to remeasure the coil or keep the old reading of 0.302.

In the pic below , the Remeasure ohm prompt showed up again when trying the Cool Profile for the first time . Old cold ohm here is .303 .

ACA35-EEC-2859-49-F4-9-DCF-7-A46-A679-AB8-C.jpg

What I find particular in the above pic is that the new coil measure at a cooler temp of 74 degree is higher then the supposedly old cold ohm reading .

Was the .303ohm @ 77.5 the cold ohm reading of my Timber or the cold ohm of the vape the file was created with ?

Is the cold ohm reading the one Power/Boost/Temp Profiles were set at ?

Does cold ohm change with time ? If so should it be unlocked ?

I’m not sure if all the Profiles have been set or if some are vague, unused or unneeded. Same for Coil Material setting .

As I mentioned before , the wood hand crafted aspect is flawless, get them spiral coils mint and DNA file touched up and you gots yourself a perfect vape .

It’s faster then sparking a pipe ! Hits harder too :brow:

It would be nice to load Funky Junky's profile. I love the cruise mode even if I am not cruising.

Morning all. Nice to see we're all chatting about the workings of Timber and its pre programmed DNA board. Remember, we're tapping into a regulator with lots of potential. We only need a small bit of it. It features temp control, watt control, preheat, and replay. Replay, to me, is pretty useless with a dry herb vape, as the contents of the bowl changes with each hit (vs oils), and the previous hit will not be just right for what's coming up. But that's just me, I'm sure others will find it useful. Preheat (booster) is ideal for Timber as the coil is big and benefits from a quick second of extra wattage before setting in at the preset watts. Of course, TC, allows you to have the board adjust watts on the fly as you inhale.

Cold ohms float a bit with room temp, a lot with usage. It seems that some units will change over time, rare, but it happens. When I say change, I mean > .001. A reading of .299 or .30, in this scenario, has no detectable impact. Just testing resistance is enough heat to bump it up .001 or so. This resistance setting is used to adjust the TCR, which I do using the software on a computer.

The *profiles* represent adjustments in watt or temp, sometimes preheat. These can all be changed within the Temp Control or Booster profile, recommended place to start (and probably stay). I personally never use anything but Temp Control and Booster, and adjust temp (TC) and watts (booster) from there.

No need to change coil profiles (I will delete extra profiles in the future), the TCR has been adjusted with Elite Hot. Use Elite Hot for all profiles. When it asks do you want to resample ohms, say no. Stick with the original settings. If you're having issues, please report them directly to me and we'll analyze it and figure it out, or ultimately repair or replace. We have a zero tolerance on *issues*, but you need to put it back in my hands for a couple of weeks.

Yes definitely delete profiles and coil materials we are not using or that have not been set-up. I’m quite sure the only reason it’s asking me to resample coil in Cool Profile or Spent Profile for example is that these Profiles were not used /tested before on the vape itself.

Too bad we are losing Elite Cool / Elite Med / Elite Hot which we had on the first LB Elites. I was using those.

Maybe @HerbieVonVapster could help folks who want it have it though. We haven’t heard of Herbie in awhile , I wish you are doing well my friend. If I’m the LB OG, he’s the Elite OG. Respect.

Oh yeah and graphic title . Changing the DNA file title to The Elite to use it with both or keep the LB Elite file and have a Timber Elite file for each respective vape. Looks funny that it says Lil Bud when it’s a Timber.

You’re welcome , Thank you for the answers.

Edit : not sure tags in edits are notified , @cpk , cruising would be sweet. both on-demand or session vape, the Elites would be equal if not superior to all other portable or desktop vapes. Are you saying session style vaping in “cruise” mod is possible in DNA boards with “funky junky” ‘s file ? . If I knew more or more tech savvy I’d try it now ! Would surely need to turncoat downcast the wattage lots! Anybody have knowledge or info on cruise mod for DNA ?

Been using my Timber for the past couple weeks. It has been great! I am getting good results in TC mode, but not as good as my Elite in TC mode. (But the Elite is so good in TC I am not sure anything can be better.) I think I need to tinker with the settings a bit more to dial it in to my draw style. However, wattage mode is insanely good on the Timber. The form factor makes it perfect to take while walking my hood houndz around the block.

Does anyone else find the battery difficult to remove from the Timber? Mine feels very tight and does not come out easily. I am concerned that I will rip the wrapping on the battery. I really want to use a tool to pry it out, but am guessing that is not a good idea. I have no issues removing the battery on my Elite.

I’ve found the Timber hotter then the Lil’ Bud in Temp Mode , i was quite surprised on my first session actually but I like things hot so I didn’t mind it and compensated with shorter draws to avoid hot spotting knowing I can always dial it down if wanted. DoesyourTimber feel hotter or colder then LB in Temp?

It’s why I like Elite Cool \ Elite Med / Elite Hot on the LB Elite , it allows you to stay on the same temperature and wattages and beef up the “juice” if you will , when needed on a damper day for example or damper herb. or if in colder weather I’d switch from Elite Cool to Elite Hot to compensate with the ambient atmosphere sorta thing. It helps getting consistency wherever you vape .

Have you tried ‘slapping the battery out ? Like a slap in your wrist/hand to dislodge the battery. I know not ideal but it might become fun after getting hang of it . Wishfully with more use the terminals will loosen up abit and you’ll be able to remove battery easier.

I too find the Timber runs hotter than the Elite. I do use the Elite Cool material file for my Elite. I tried it on the Timber, but it did not work as well. But I was able to change the TCR on the Elite Hot file for the Timber to get it closer to the Elite performance. Still need some tweaking thought...give wattage mode a try. I was very surprised at how well the Timber performs in wattage mode.

I have not tried slapping to remove the battery. Will have to give it try tonight.

Runs hotter as in more heat at the same temp or hotter as in the resulting vapor you get is cooler with an LBE?

Both...lol

Now these are modified settings, not the original settings loaded when I received the devices.

On my Elite, temp at 360 using the Elite Cool material file, the vapor is a perfect temp. Warm, but not too hot. Very comfortable temp.

Using the same material file at the same 360 on my Timber, the vapor is extremely hot and on the verge of combustion. Turning the temp down helps, but can't find a temp to match the awesomeness of the Elite.

I did find the stock setting a little too hot (the temp my throat felt) on both the Elite and Timber, which is why I started using the Elite Cool material file. Now that I have more experience with both devices, I should revert back to the stock settings and do a comparison.

That doesn’t sound right at all. I run my Timber at temps ranging from 330 to 425 and I never get close to combustion. The vapor is also very cool on my throat. This is on the warm materials IIRC. Did you resample the coil or something?

I’ve got an LBE coming from the pay it forward contest, once I do I’ll try some comparisons.

Yes, I have resampled the coils. My Timber reads .001 higher than the sticker. Elite runs .003 lower than the sticker. I have been using the resampled values, but have also used the default values.

Don't get me wrong, I can get great performance from the Timber in TC mode. However, I get even better performance with my Elite. My assumption it is just a matter of dialing in the settings on the Timber, which I have not accomplished yet.

What @pudgewack said, both . It sounds right being it’s hotter then the LBE..

I run it no problem with no risk of combustion , but it still runs hotter in Temp Mode then the LBE does.

On my Timber, I’ve noticed that the cold ohms being different than the sticker very much impacts performance. As an example, I’ve had some flower which was great for a while, and then it seemed like I could never get a cloud out of it, or at least much of one. I was going to increase wattage, and noticed that cold ohms were at .303, versus .293 it had been at - I obviously had rechecked when prompted at some point. As soon as I reset back to .293, it reverted back to the initial performance.

I can’t get a read on whether my LBE is hotter or colder.... I suspect the settings are rather askew on it - I’d tend to believe cold ohms on it are wrong for instance (it is a very early LBE and I’m certain I have randomly adjusted things - intentionally or not).. it certainly is not as well tuned as the Timber is performance wise,
