Discontinued The Timber Elite by Vapwood

Simple is the way
I usually charge my batteries inside my DNA devices, some have 3,2,1 batteries and I don't want to mix up the married pairs. I find my self doing both though with the Elite, it I just need a quick top up I'll plug into my laptop or an external charger.

I must say I've REALLY been enjoying this little device, it took me a bit longer then usually to get my draw speed perfected, about 220 puffs to be exact but I think most the blame is on me as I rotated through every stem I owed for the first two days before finally settling on the one it came with and a matching wooden dosing capsule stem for on the go from Allen.

Battery life is wild on this, my first battery lasted me aprox 76 , 11 seconds puffs.
Thats about 8-10 stems for me. Mind boggling! I love it.

The form factor is a bit larger then I thought it was going to be but the weight of the unit more then makes up for the size. I've counted 3 times now where I've been wandering around the house looking for my Elite just to realize it was in my pocket the entire time.

Had one good drop from the imaginary side pocket on the sweater I was wearing, landed directly on the stem upside down on tile. Yard sailed the battery and cover plate across the room. Luckily no damage, took the force of zeus to remove the stem after and I had to bend up on of the battery terminals to pressure fit the battery again. Not a scratch though!

Vapour quality is fantastic and getting better every time I use the unit. Hot spots are almost non existent, I say almost because I'm still experimenting.

Right now Im set at:

Wow @Easywider that's a beauty. What wood is it?

Glad it survived a drop. I think these guy are a bit tougher than you would think. My earliest concern was dropping it. I almost asked Mike if there be way make mine with hole or something for a wrist strap.

After having it for awhile no longer worried. Mines for inside use and figured it bounced down the stairs so a normal carpet drop isn't going damage it.

Sadly my vape_bar has a tile floor under it. Going with wood stems been a huge money saver. They tend to get dropped a lot. Between ease of cleaning and surviving drops I love my wood stem @Alan.

Once a month I put a nylon brush in the vise and with a little um jerking action there cleaned.

Here to give you a better visual is my method of cleaning tubes.

@Easywider that is a beauty. Shows the glorious end grain on the bottom cap. Some really nice units in this current batch. I've been fielding lots of questions on shipping. I will be going to the post office at the beginning of May. My new policy will be to go once per month (except for special orders), most likely during the first week of each month. Whenever I am in my current batch, I'm going to call it once per month to stop and pack up. That is the only way I can handle the workload and continue to make improvements.

I'm pretty caught up on Elites. There were some Blended, Koa special orders that are still waiting, but all Walnut and Cherry units are filled from mid March. I believe there are a couple of Maple units as well. Same thing goes for the Classic, right now I am caught up to mid march, and there will be another shipping in early May.

Now that's pretty disturbing...

I use the external charger. Every few days I'll put four batteries through a charge. My batts are pretty old at this point, so I probably average about 1 to 1.5 batteries per day.

So many inquiries, so little time. A few people on Reddit are talking about LB, and asking about size. They want to know how big it is. In my next photo shoot, I'll include some perspective pics. My Elite is exactly as wide as my Samsung Galaxy 8, but 3 inches shorter, and twice as thick. The Classic is a half inch narrower. The question always is can it fit in a front pocket? I can physically get it into front jeans pockets, but it would be like carrying a wallet in your front pocket. Doable, but not ideal. Cargo pockets, jacket pockets, no problem. I don't really think of my Elite as a pocket vape, rather a handcrafted wood show piece that I wouldn't jam into my front jeans pocket. The Elite needs a case.

I'm trying to dive back into the escribe software. It truly is simple and gives the user lots of control. I apologize for the cold ohms issues. At this point, the best advice is to just test cold, and keep that setting. Most are around .300. Lots of things will contribute to change, even use over time, as well as climate.

@HerbieVonVapster has become quite expert, and I respect his opinion tremendously, when it comes to our DNA board. He has done extensive testing that has panned out, pretty much across the board. We have identified what needs to be adjusted to make this powerful coil behave just like we want it to. Nice work. I'm back to TC, cruising along at 380 degrees. Case thermal analyzer, mod resistance, temperature coefficient of resistance, as well as cold ohms, all where they should be. Thanks Herbie, sweet stuff.

@HerbieVonVapster 's selfless dedication to improving our vaping experience is remarkable. Here, and in several 510 mod threads

He would probably respond that the work is a distraction for him, beneficial

Amazing in his effort, focus, deliverables, assistance, and most importantly, intention. Given his neuro-muscular disease, that bench vice in picture above must come in handy, pardon the pun :)

@Bravesst , imagine some Greenlane meeting, folks looking at Elite, asking their CAD guy to render an injection molded casing, adding a copy of transverse S&B cooling unit, capsule loading bowl, simplified interface ... Would you be pissed or flattered? Both?

I jumped on the Elite list early on after having ergonomic difficulties with 510 architectures. The progression from a separate mod to this design is most welcome

So I got my 10 x 30Q's from ebay seller, they are Fake . I guess $4cdn/batt shipped was too good to be true ! Notice the fake one as 4 legs((prongs) at positive tip compared to 3 for the real samsung. Notice my amazingly looking Elite bottom cap , not sure if Koa or Walnut, probably Walnut but I like to think it's Koa . Who cares it's gorgeous.

I charged a couple of Fake 30q's and put one into the Elite for a test. From full 99% to 3% on Elite screen display , I got 105 puffs , 8 sessions.

IMG-4066.jpg

The 30Q on the right side is a fake (notice the 4 legs vs 3 legs of a real Samsung).
IMG-4067.jpg

I vaped at different Temps , certain bowls stepping up from 350 to 420F , others staying at 390F the whole bowl. Draw lengths varied from 5 to 11ish seconds averaging 7-7.5secs. In TC Elite Cool, .316 ohms , 38watts. Boost at 8 ...

I'm emailing the ebay seller about the fake 30Q's, they will probably tell me "Samsung" wasn't in the title, lol.. still though, 105 puffs on a new fake 30Q battery, not bad I guess . And I didn't blow up yet !

I could not agree more. @HerbieVonVapster 's information is spot on, and he is a true pioneer in the mod / cannabis evolution that is taking place right now. Mod / chip manufactures fall short here, as we are adapting a device made for oil to dry herb. Our particular situation involves a custom wooden case with a monster SS coil (thanks @Alan ) that blows away anything that's mass produced. I feel our coil, case, chip combo is quite the advancement in the dry herb vape world. Thankfully, we are getting expert guidance on how to optimize usage.

The dry herb vape world is a coop of shared information. In order to deliver the best experience and push the envelope on what a vaporizer can do, it takes many minds. I must admit, I'm very grateful for this community's involvement. I am an open book when it comes to manufacturing, and that's why.

Good Sunday Morning,

This is what I'll be doing today. Pairing. This batch is gonna look sweet. Almost done.

Last sale for the glorious month of April (ends 4/30), Elite only, BYEBYEAPRIL save 10%.

Note on research / usage: I've developed a really good understanding of the Escribe software thanks to @HerbieVonVapster 's generosity, knowledge, and patience. TC is a very cool way to use the Elite. I go back and forth between TC and power. I do love the Booster profile. I cruise at 26 watts and get countless smooth hits. There is definitely more *work* involved. I have to be better at my timing with draw speed, button depression, much like unregulated, only way easier with the cap on the full power. I also don't mind stirring to get an extra four or five tasty hits. But the boost, just a little bit of preheat to bring our rather large coil up to full heat fast is really what sets this profile apart.

I just paired 14 cover plates to units. Next step is to install back plates, then rounding edges and finish sanding. Rounding, finish sanding is a combination of hand and machine sanding. This is all about appearance now, and a lot of time and effort goes into this part of the process. If I plan on putting a kick ass finish on each unit, this is the only way. I try to machine sand as much as possible, I've got belts up to 400 grit, but certain tasks are hand only. This is a the tough part of large batches. I'm working with 14 Elites and 10 Classics, and right now covered in saw dust. Right now it's break time, but I'm gonna get back in the shop one more time today. Hopefully I can bring this batch to beeswax soon.

This morning, I'm sipping on a long, glass lined, @Alan super cool cherry tube. The velvety sweep of vapor is almost sweet, cool, yet hits you right between the eyes. The tweaking has paid off big time.

Just another day in the shop on mega batch. More Vapwood porn coming soon. Time to get started...

I'm fighting a cold so been using the elite with the Magic flight orbiter today. This little setup is producing some excellent vapors. Haven't seen much discussion on use of Elites with water.
Anyone else try there's thru water?

That is one cool looking set up. While I don't really use water devices, I go to the long glass lined tube if I have any chest / throat irritation. I hope you beat that cold @HerbieVonVapster .

I'm about to assign units to people. When this batch is done, every Classic and Elite order prior to 4/20 will be filled. I have Elites in Cherry, Walnut, Maple, and a couple of Blends and Koa's. I have Walnut, Cherry, and Maple Classics as well. We're looking at the second week of May for the big shipment to go out.

Good morning!

No shop today, I'm off the city (every Tuesday, I work in Manhattan). One of the biggest things I've learned about on demand convection, regulated or unregulated, what's going on in the tube is most important. The tube is actually where all the vaporization takes place.

Clogged Screen
No getting around this one. If the screen is blocking airflow, you can't pull the heat from the coil into the tube. You can have perfect settings, dry, grind, load and tamp just right, and still not get optimal results. Clean or change those screens often.

Load Too Heavy (or too light)
Too much weed and it you'll get some of the clogged screen issues. Air flow (especially if *tamp* is too tight) is restricted, and the result is insufficient heat transfer from the coil to the load. Too light a load is not nearly as big a problem, unless not tamped correctly (too loose).

The Perfect Flower Puck
Approximately .1 gram of dry, finely ground (shredded) product, tamped to just the right density (think espresso machine) to allow the perfect airflow and heat transfer from the coil. This really enhances a session to another level. I can stir after a few big hits and recreate the flower puck mid session, and it's like a brand new bowl.

Other than that, screen placement can be a personal preference. I like the stock screen, inserted about 1/8 from the tip. I've tried everything else, but for me and my vaping style, this results in the coolest, smoothest vapor.

I've had my Elite for about a week now. It seems to just keep getting better. At first my exaction seemed to be a bit prone to hot spotting. It didn't go away until I changed from Elite hot profile to Elite medium and worked on my draw speed.

I found the Elite medium profile a bit too cool and compensated by increasing my cold ohms. Performance was great and over a very short period of time my hot spotting went away. Im now back to using my regular cold ohms and using the Elite Hot profile. No more hot spotting with super quick heat up and extraction.

My temp rang seems very similar to my old mighty with great performance from 350f to 410f. I sold my Mighty to help fund the Elite and so far it's been the perfect on demand replacement. I can have a 15min low and slow session style experience or I can crank it up and extract everything in 5 great lung busters. I've been averaging just over 100 puffs per day or 1.5 batteries per day. It's just so incredibly efficient.

I'd like a tray with space for the Elite, a grinder, stems and a poker, does this exist?

I think you made a great choice with the Mighty. It's a nice vaporizer but between the warm up time and being more session type vaporizer mine's isn't getting much use. I also found the Mighty is hard to clean and plastic feel of it was a turn off.

The Mighty shines more in a larger group setting. The amount it holds and type of heating works best when sharing this guy. For 1-2 people the Elite offers a better overall type of experience I want.
I did base the Elites temperature readout on the Mighty on so it's nice to hear feedback that there close.

@Easywider I see you are using the basket screen are you finding any benefits over the normal screen mesh? Wondering if you find the little extra restriction they offered was something you found helpful or not? I go back and forth on my preference using them.

I don't want it too restrictive and find too much and you get into fighting it for a hit. Too less can lead to hot spots but it also allows some killer hits once you adjust the breathing rate.

I think rather have less than too much. You can adjust breath rate, but if device is too restricted your stuck with that.

I do feel changing from Lil Bud design airflow to the Elites. There might end up needing a tad more restriction than currently offered but it's damn close. Mikes been testing this so looking forward to his outcome on it.

When you have a awesome power regulator like the DNA chips offers you can start to really hone in on perfection. I'm happy too see Mike always looking for ways to improve on these devices. With elite thou I feel Mike has already nailed it. I kinda think any changes moving forward is going be more small improvements over any major changes with the elites.

I'm looking forward to seeing these rolling improvements. There wasn't much difference btw batch 1 and 2 where mine felt in anyway outdated, but at the same time there was some small improvements to it.

Looking forward to seeing what is in store in batch 3. Well i'm not expecting it to change a lot. Having the early version should allow me a comparison that wouldn't normally be notice. I'm excited to see what's improved.

People don't realize how rare it is where have such open feedback with a manufacturer like Mike offers. He's here everyday sharing what goes into the Lil Buds. Hard to put a value of this..best I can do is say thank you Mike I really appreciate the effort you put into this.

You supplied my dream vaporizer, the very least I can do is help out with understanding the software.

I guess buying a couple helps too but that was also for my benefit. I don't normal buy a backup of the same devices this one was a rare exception. I have a wide selection of vaporizer and when I feel the need for 2 of the same ones really shows how much I value it. Some things I just don't want be without.

Thank you, I'm humbled. Being an open book helps me as well. My creative process would be stymied without the ability to tell someone about it. And who better to tell? The back and forth of ideas is what makes this forum so effective at holding up the standards, something I feel is vital to future improvements in function, appearance, and purity.

My mega batch of approximately 50 is kicking fucking ass. The going is a bit slow, as I'm bringing about 40 of the 50 to final pre-assembly (beeswax). About 10 Elites will be put on hold, and are still just single mortised blanks. Once all 40 are pre-assembled, I'll need to match up units with customers, and that should take care of about 15 units, split between Elite and Classic. This should leave me with decent stock of Elites and Classics in Walnut, Cherry, and Figured Maple for distribution in Spring 2019. I plan on sticking with the basics, Walnut, Cherry, Maple, as far as stock goes. If the Figured Maple / Walnut (Figured Waple) is a hit, or Koa gets popular, you'll see those two in the mix as well. With the Classic, I made the mistake of too many styles, and with the Elite I am going to keep it consistent, much easier to build an inventory this way.

I am also happy to report that I'm now phat with tubes, and while there are Bare Bones options, the Classic and Elite complete come with a single battery and tube. Just know that I'm working really hard to get that May shipment out, and building stock for June as well.

@Easywider An Elite / Classic vape station is something I'd love to have time to work on, even for personal reasons. Nice set up!

Pam's pic has the latest Elite looking really smooth and refined.

I dig Easy's notion of selling a Mighty to fund an Elite too. Might have to try that.
