Yeah, they went up for sale the other day I think.
Admittedly, I was sent these as a wee gift, I only realised they were on route this morning.
I'm buying the green and some other bits, but need to wait till the end of the month when money is better, I'm planning on buying a second device too. I'm sure there's a lot more stock this time round so wouldn't worry about that.

These wooden sleeves are fantastic. Great feel to them, very comfortable in use, zero sense of any heat at all coming through. I can see me using these more than the titanium shield I think.

Aw I somehow managed to damage the threading on the inner ti cap, so couldn't screw the steel housing and sleeve back on.
Still unsure how I managed it, I work with small stuff like that a lot, so have a good feeling for handing and using it. I was gutted with myself.

Edit - these do have a very satisfyingly smooth finish to them.

Can the rubies be cleaned like the zirc balls? I think they are getting darker when torched. I think I have to try them again.
Also I got some glass balls with my order. Not sure if they are quartz or boro...

My money would be on Borosilicate, I got some for free with my order too.

The wood sleeves remind of high quality carved marble chess pieces for some reason. Really nice. Which is your favourite?

I received my first Tempest in November 2023. The parts to fix things like non-ISO safe o rings as well as sleeve upgrades, coil/spring upgrades, etc were sent to the early adopters later on for a discounted price IIRC (~6mo I wanna say?). Those upgrades that we got the parts for were included by default on the Tempests moving forward after that so I get your argument but I feel he really already did this appropriately, just maybe not in the way you feel it should be.

Edit: changed from free to discounted price because they were sold at cost or something, but he shipped free which was a significant discount in itself considering the cost of the parts

Hmm, I think the black, it's a really striking look and goes well with the purple. Can't wait to get a green one though. That'll go well with the purple.
The natural one looks slick with the plain ti on the website photos.

Ok I was working a bit more on the mahogany shield, tried to do an experiment with a beech one and polish and adjust an american walnut one to do something similar to the mahogany one (i will do the same with the pequia one):

They are not perfect. Im just a rookie without lathe :lol: just with a normal electric drill to rotate the shield

So, this is the kit that was put out for beta testers so they could upgrade, and was at a discounted rate for anyone who had bought a beta Tempest, yes?
So what's the problem? @Brenyo puts out everything needed to jack the beta up to the same standard as the release, and does it cheaper than the separate parts. You're saying it's been out for ages, but that was a pre-release version, and part of the idea is to give it about as good a test as possible (which lead to those updated parts), while giving a bunch of fans the chance to see what the fuss is all about rather earlier than everyone else, and then selling it cheap in return. Where's the hurt, I'm not seeing it at all?

No. I talked about the v1 upgrade kit. The one I just linked. It's to upgrade the v1. It will start being sold this month or next month.
Not to upgrade the beta unit.

You are talking about the beta upgrade kit which was called beta upgrade kit.

Happy to report that the WPA part of the wooden heat shields works very well.



The detail in the maple burl is amazing. The green one makes me think of van Gogh.

I think you need to put the link with the image widget (insert image, ctrl+p)

the link you posted brings me to homepage of imgur unfortunately. also curious how it turned out.

Well, the inner diameters and the standard tube form were made by a woodworker, but fast, i had (and will have) to correct them
