Ah I guess there is no point in differentiating then!
Precisely, you can't differentiate something that's one thing.
You can differentiate how heat behaves (i.e. how it transfers through a a material and across the junctions between different materials).
You also can't use a vape without convection, even if it's a so-called conduction vape.

The 'pest is quite clever here - by using a very thin bowl wall (minimum heat capacity) to reduce the need to heat the bowl by conduction, this makes the convection far more efficient because less heat is heat-sunk away from the air as it passes through the bowl. It appears engineered to focus on convection heating - there's the gap between bowl wall and outer wall of the heater where it's screwed on over the bowl, which actually reduces the effect of conduction when heating the head.

On the subject of convection and thin bowl walls, the paper roasting tube idea from @Alan is genius. On my log vape i prefer a paper tube tip that slides into the 7/16” steel heater cover. Super efficient and very convection based.

So couple days ago I tried the SIC balls and I'm liking the punchier hit, the difference is not that much but noticeable. I was thinking to put 1/4 SIC and 3/4 zirc and heat untill timeout with the zinc settings. Will try soon with my spare head.

Question for everyone who currently uses a tempest. I'm coming from a dynavap and have always been a half bowl user because i feel the device is better at extracting with 1 hit vs multiple. Since the tempest hold heat for longer I'm guessing its way easier to clear a full tempest bowl vs a full dynvap bowl.

What do you guys use on your tempest? half bowl or full bowl?

I currently keep mine in half bowl configuration and just reload if I want more since I don’t normally need the full 0.15g and it’s so easy to load more on the occasions I want a second bowl. I used to keep it in full bowl then just load half like I do with my dynavaps, but discovered that the half bowl setting is more stable than with my dynas so I just left it in half setting.

I go back and forth constantly. I like it at half bowl indoors, as I like many smaller bowls. Half bowl.is also perfect size to fill lungs for one big inhale through a WPA.

If I'm out the house. Hiking/camping etc. Then I use full bowl, as I want to get medicated as possible in a small amount of time before moving on with what I'm doing.

@Brenyo , cheers and thank you for the thoughtful kit for us early beta purchasers! As the engineer you are, you always seem to have thought things through and arrived at the proper solution without need for much (if any) feedback driven course correction. I appreciate the attention to detail, and I hope it brings you the continued success you deserve!

Also got another Reload, I now have a three lot to bring with my TM2 kit, and a 1 pot plus debowler pot for our and about with Tempest!

Does any one happen to know the outer size of the diameter of the tempest wand adapter i want know if I'm gonna try and see if there is anyway to use this in a dynavap FFP at all.

Doesn’t work.
Outer diameter of Tempest glass adapter = 16.5mm.
Dynavap FFP coil inner diameter = 14.2mm
Tempest head does not fit the (first gen) FFP glass insert.

Hello everyone. My understanding is that there are no more units for sale anywhere, right? What are my options as someone in the US if I want to buy a Tempest?

There are still Revolve Upgrade kits (~£160ukp) on the HM site, which would also need a Revolve 2 w/out sleeve (~£80ukp).
Alternatively if you have a suitable stem (or glass with a WPA for an 8mm connection as with a DV) you can still get a Tempest head and bowl (~£110ukp).

The Revolve upgrade is as close to a Tempest as makes no odd's (I have one 'real' pest and one Revolve upgrade and have no issues with either. If anything the Revolve stem seems a tiny bit more functional though I wouldn't worry either way).

There may be some EU suppliers that still have some available, I think there was a French and a German vape shop selling them. But I wouldn't hang about too long if you definitely want one.

Double screen.. one in the full setting and another at half.. catches some of the pass through.. but I find myself hitting this thing a lot.. The whole system is straightforward but can just keep going with ease.
thats actually a cool idea for keeping the device more filtered. I use a dynavap tip on a glass sleeve revove gen 2. I have a special way of collecting every last drop of reclaim. With your idea the reclaim would be even more filtered and have even less plant matter. It does suck 2 screens can get clogged but to counter that i did see on amazon 10mm screen sold in a 100 pack people did say the holes in the mesh were wider and it was proven with photo reviews. Those screens on amazon tho may work really well for your idea! I may try it out myself haha.

I do this and I just clean the bowl once per week in iso+ultrasonic cleaner. Normal screen on full bowl andsolid screen on half bowl.
Since i use to vape hash i need a light CU cleaning every 2 weeks. Easy because it is just oil. And i can vape it again without dirtiness

I originally though buying the tempest will cure my VAS.
But unfortunately VAS was still there and i have to get a 2nd tempest head/wand LOL.

i ended up getting 2nd tempest head w/ rev gen 2 cu. no difference in performance vs tempest cu which is a fantastic deal

Fantastic service/deal from madheaters. Ty so much Balint for the assistance on my order
