The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

I think I'll always have a small rotation. Vaping for me is a hobby as it is a form of medication.

Having said that, Tempest is the vape I'm going to save in a house fire. The rest can fend for themselves :D
This! Now this is what I want :) something that stands out as the one to grab...

... plus I would rather not rely on electricity being always available, a manual option for when the powers shot for a few days is a requirement, so desktop power in the palm of my hand, yes please.

It seems the only way to stop VAS completely is to just not follow the scene at all.
In December of last year I grabbed a Tiny Might 2 and a Freight Train Pro, I didn't buy anything else until September of this year when I grabbed an Anvil which was the only thing I was going to buy but September sucks (PTSD / deaths / births blah blah) I kind of, I think VAS was a coping mechanism in order to avoid dealing with the how I actually feel and the things that were going on.

I guess my point is that from December of last year to September of this year, I was still watching the websites I buy from for anything new, I was still watching reddit for something I hadn't seen. I ended up creating this epic list of everything I saw and liked... I let the list grow and grow until September when I decided I would finally let myself buy something.

I don't think you need stop watching the scene in order to be able to resist VAS, but something has to be the priority that every time VAS kicks in you look at your priority and its very easy to just put it on a list and say "I'll get this later".

However, if there is anything happening in your life that's got you down, or your overly stressed with work or your relationships, its in those times I agree that the only way to avoid leaning into VAS is to try and avoid "the scene" as its those times that its very hard to maintain your self control... as I found out...

As someone with no vapes at the moment, this is great news to just buy this one vape and be done with it. It makes waiting for release a bit harder though.

When initially looking into which vape to buy, I never thought I'd be following the progress on click disks being manufactured, but here I am checking in and rooting for click disks
If only buying 'the endgame one' was enough.....

Hey Brenyo, any ideas when the test kits are ready? Is it this or next week?

(I'm not trying to answer the question as such) I think there is a post regarding a possible visual indicator release candidate he was expecting this week and hoping to include in the test kit drop if its ready - which would be really cool, so I'm looking forward to his next update on it :)

Putting the pieces together he's sorting out colors as we have been watching, and the visual indicator as he mentioned - so a few things seem to be coming together at the moment. I wouldn't want to interrupt progress :) as much as I would love to be able to test one.

for gold (which seems to be the seventh one from the left if I'm not mistaken?
The gold would be proper gold color with PVD, it's not on the picture. I'm getting a sample soon hopefully along with matte black, grey, green and purple (these are all anodised) so there could be changes still.

Am I correct to presume these would be higher quality than the anodized metal colors?? Like chance of wearing down etc.
yes, however if it’s damaged it’s impossible to restore unlike the ano

It's going to be next week. The RC visual indicators are on the way and I think we're very close with the clicks as well, there's only a few seconds delay now but I'm still testing them.

There is an issue with the bowl mesh unfortunately, it's a bit too small in diameter and the wrong mesh size which is weak and feels cheap. Barely works in half bowl position and letting some gunk through. The new batch won't be ready in the next 2-3 weeks so these kits are going to have these bad ones for the time being.

I'm also out of zirc balls somehow, I thought I had enough so there will be only 25 kits next week, 25 more the week after as I expect. I still have some boro balls so if anyone would prefer that then it could be more.

All the talk of VAS, Endgame, only one vape. I have some thoughts.

For me VAS can be separated into need and want. Many times I've found myself with usage situation gaps in my vape selection, creating needs. The best vapes I've tried rarely fill most the required niches, and the ones that do tend to have a weakness, like lack of potency, bowl size, or difficulty in cleaning.

Tempest is the first vape I've used that I find is outstanding in all my use scenarios. I never anticipated it would be so capable of longer sessions. Putting half a gram through it is fast, and so enjoyable. Chaining bowls, and toking on it in joint puffs is so much like the joint experience. Each time you quickly reload, and bring back to temp with the torch feels like re-lighting a joint that went out.

It's reliability, flexibility, ease of cleaning/maintenance, ease of sharing, means it covers all my needs. Literally. My other vapes are not getting a look in. Tempest is my best performer in all my usage scenarios.

If you only want one. This is a brilliant one to get.

That hyper functionality handles the need part of VAS. So my future vape purchases will be wants. Something with a unique or interesting ritual. Vapes like the Vapman for example. Vapes that offer some novelty over functionality.

I said this about the Anvil 6 months ago and here I am anxiously waiting for the tempest

Its mildly amusing how much I am looking forward to updates on your journey towards getting your project completed as I have literally no stake in it in any way but... I've started to really enjoy FC and it seems like a bunch of creative people that are trying to find better ways to medicate be it the vape, grinder, rig or culture... but... the homepage of Chrome is this thread :)

I love your reviews mate, I literally cannot wait to be able to see if it feels that need I have that I don't really feel is VAS. I use my manual vapes when in the lounge with my partner as having to get up and go medicate is something that bothers me having to pause or the like, so having something that I want to use more than the ball vapes, that's manual, mobile, compact and I can sit on the couch next to my partner and use... I don't really have that at the moment.

VAS is more a compulsive - its sort of driven by FOMO and often is a purchase that shouldn't happen but happened because you felt sort of a mix of panic and excitement and it doesn't last.

I said this about the Anvil 6 months ago and here I am anxiously waiting for the tempest

The Anvil is good, but its still, like Dynavaps, its still a race against the clock. I also get very frustrated with the orientation of the bowl, the Tempest is a lot of the things the Anvil was not. I feel the same and its why I'm so excited about the Tempest.

I never found the Anvil to be anywhere near the Tempest in terms of versatility and functionality. I found several big flaws with it to be honest. You just reminded me I need to post in the comparison thread.
I am so glad to hear that...

I've tried to ignore the hype, but here I am... :)

Some simple guidance would be much appreciated as I'm trying to figure out if this is a good option for me.

Apart from seemingly being somewhat of a portable powerhouse, which I get is a great thing for a lot of people, how well would this vaporizer suit flavour chasing "sippers" that value both a pure taste profile and a mindful joint-like ritual?

My experience with similar vapes is fairly limited but, for reference, the Vapman is currently the one to beat for my needs.

Thanks in advance - and sorry if I've missed similar questions that have already been answered in the past.

It's going to be next week.
Change of plans again, I think I can make 10 sets for this weekend. :ko: Expect it on Sunday and I'll announce two 30 minute time slots for the drop when it will happen.
Raw Ti or these 2 colors (you can leave a note with the order if you prefer the dark green / bronze or the dark purple / gold instead of the raw). I know I've said that I wouldn't sell these, but I have way more of them then how many I would want to give away and it wouldn't be a sought after color.

I've managed to adjust the new visual sensor samples and it seems like it's working as it should. These will probably come with some better click discs as well which are just a few seconds off, I'll need some feedback for those. I don't have enough for the rest, but you won't miss it much anyways with the visual indicator working.

Will only the revolve Gen 2 be able to unscrew the tempest? Not the Gen 1?
Both, but I don't recommend it with the Ti sleeve on either. 12mm glass or wood sleeve is the minimum recommended.

I've been using the Tempest for a few weeks. I wrote an in depth review on page 23. It covers many areas including those you asked about. I also posted some videos of use on page 24. In one of the videos I'm casually puffing like a joint.

In the review I state that it takes a lot of effort to remove the flow tube. That is not a problem anymore. I think it's just difficult the first time. I've updated with a few amendments and will be posting the review to Reddit over the weekend.

I have no experience with manual heated vaporizers, but I would imagine that being able to heat it a bit past the 2nd click would be ideal. It should obviously have a little bit of leeway between combustion and the 2nd click. I'm not sure what temperatures you're targeting though.

They didn't clean it enough in the factory and it had some residue on the tube. Once it's cleaned it should work fine as you say. The retail and these early units shouldn't have this issue.

Anyone who's getting an early unit should have a Reload (g1 or g2) because it doesn't come with the leather case.
