The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

Anyone here know of any custom wooden pipes or mass made ones that fit the tempest or thermal accumulator similar to the dani fusion pipe that bfg makes?
There's these Aezhenn pipes:

I have one on the way to use with my Woodscents. I believe the stem can be removed and used with the tip, too--it's a twofer.

Have patience if you order, the shop owner seems to be on his own and scrambling, and it seems like the pipes are made to order (not sure) so it may take some time and possibly a reminder.

I have one of them and the one for Dani vapes, I like them.

DMed the maker on IG. He says it works for thermal accumulator but he can't guarantee it works for tempest or the tornado.

The only problem I have with these wooden pipes is that you can’t clean them as they’re not lined with metal, just wood.
They have a metal sleeve near the top to hold the bowl (if they're like my stem) and the stem has the same plus removable glass lining the length, so it's just a half-inch or so in the barrel, it looks like. Wood's neutral to temperature so relatively little reclaim should accumulate, I'd think. In any case, you'd do like you would with a Sticky Brick, I guess, at least for that part.

It should be fine, then. The metal liner should provide a tight tolerance at the right size.

I tried that before wondering if it is easier to understand in an assembly video or has less room for errors. Tho i had no overtightening problems.
I had to do it that way round, where the vid describes tightening the coil in the fingers and then clamping it with the tweezers to settle into the housing, the coil would unwind a bit too much because the tweezers couldn't hold it firmly enough against the tension of the spring, and after going nearly permanently cross-eyed trying to see into the blessed thing, I eventually succeeded going the other way and mounting the outer end first and then fitting the inner part to the indicator.

Appreciation Post for @Brenyo

I was one of the lucky idiots who happen to come across the Tempest literally the day after it went live for Pre-Order (I'm not kidding, I can't imagine the torture of having to wait a year plus!).

My purchase was really an impulse buy as I wanted to get myself something for enduring what was a very difficult year. I typically hem and haw about larger purchases especially vape devices. I started with DV and eventually spent hundreds of dollars to support that ecosystem only to rarely use it anymore after a few years. The anvil which I actually really enjoy I've taken long breaks from. So I really wondered will I enjoy this tempest?

I tried to justify the price because I hadn't bought a vape in a couple of years but as the anticipation of the product lingered I started to wonder, "will I be let down? I had also purchased a wand just for the tempest impulsively."

Well.... I have to say, the device alone which is worth every single penny. The customer service that Brenyo puts forth in the forums, emails and where ever else. If anyone is on the fence for this limited Drop for one of the last tempest before the next year drop. I strongly urge you to do so. Yes, it is a high price tag, but you will receive unmatched customer service and passion to deliver the very very best. In addition, you have this lovely little community who has been so helpful and willing to help alongside Brenyo!

I had almost sworn off venturing into new vapes after experiences with DV and Anvil customer service but, @Brenyo I will follow you to Mordor. I'm already looking to continue to invest into you and whether its another tempest or the next innovation you move forward with.

If I had any less impulse control, I would probably look to pick up another Tempest Tip and mouth piece or even an entirely new unit....

Time to do a clean and get back to tasty cool vapor!

Tempest came yesterday. Using an inductor as my heater. First try, I combusted, but now I’ve got it dialed in. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve taken a hit, and was and was blown away by how much vapor was there because it didn’t feel like it. You just stare at it and shake your head, wondering what back majik fuckery is in those things. Well done Brenyo

Did you just heat to the clicks? What voltage?

So hows my beta upgrade going....

Swapping the stem parts, peice of cake.

I just spent all evening trying to put the indicator housing back together. 3 hours of fucking around with tiny bits of metal and springs. In the end my new indicator spring pinged off somewhere and i cant find it. This is not how i want to spend my saturday night.

There is no part of me that wants to be doing this. I was not looking forward to doing this as i had a feeling it would be a nightmare, and it is.

Tired, pissed off, annoyed.

@Brenyo please help.

I had problems with my visual indicator since i got the unit. Thanks to all the people posting pictures and ideas I managed to bend it a little and clean it and now it works perfeclty. This really makes it stand out from other devices.
I had no truble reassembling the indicator housing, just folow the tutorial on mh webpage

I have dialed back to 24. For me, anything hotter and it got too hot and ended up combusting. I’m holding for 1-2 seconds on opposite sides, not spinning. I pull it somewhere between 1.5 and the two bar mark, and in a perfect world, just before the first click, then I let it ride to the second click before I start hitting. Haven’t combusted since ding it that way, and have a deep, deep roast. The closer I get to that two bar mark before I stop, the closer to combustion i come.

So can someone please clarify, if I’m looking at heating to the third mark on the visual indicator - is that when the far edge of the visual indicator is aligned with the third mark? o?r is it when the middle of the visual indicator is aligned with the third mark?

Since none of Brenyo's design is accidental, I'd say it's the center of the VI, where there's a corresponding mark. But I also wouldn't get too fixated on what others are reporting in terms of VI alignment--I don't think it's that consistent from device to device. I think the VI is most useful as a reference for your particular device; as you use it, the VI will reveal how your Tempest is calibrated. I don't know about others, but I don't pay much attention to my VIs at all--if you use a Wand, the timer is about all you need.

Thanks mate. I’ve only had my tempest for a minute and was worried that the visual indicator wasn’t “accurate”. Makes sense. Appreciate you.

I also stopped pay attention to VI or clicks, but I use torch.

As Vapman user - it’s pretty natural to count.
And with Tempest it’s very easy to count - 2 rolling moves = 1 count.

1st heating - count 23-25 for easy start, 28-32 for hard one.
Re-heat after every long pull: climbing counting from 9 to 14.

Ps: tempest settings for finish bowl in 5-6 long pulls.

BTW, I noticed, that clicks a very accurate, but for re-heat they useless (late cooling click is the problem).

The spring and clickdiscs have a little bit of a character you learn your device and when the VI tells you too hot/cold.

At wand timeout 290c one device might end up with the VI right at MKIII and clicked 2seconds ago.
Next device might have the VI between MKII and MKIII at timeout and clicked 4seconds ago.
One can learn with both/ all of em just fine where the sweetspot is.

I know that one of my two shows a little hotter on the VI but barely makes difference in using em.
Just notice i reheat a bit earlier on the VI and then bring slightly higher up.
Its easy to adapt not even thinking about it cause its visual, not like dynavap clickdiscs clicking all over the place..

thanks, appreciate the perspective. I want the visual indicator to reach the third mark, but it doesn’t seem to go much past the second one.

Certainly isn’t a big issue as I’m able to consistently get awesome results, with a variety of configurations.

Some of the frustrations people are having with the beta upgrades are exactly the reason why I didn't jump in at that time.
Which is fair enough, but the beta program isn't about getting the finished 'pest early, it's about enabling it's development (which a small outfit can't finance as easily as a big company), and end-user testing that makes it the finished product it is today, and generally a chance to be invested in the whole thing that makes the beta program worth considering for them as willing to accept it comes with conditions.

So can someone please clarify, if I’m looking at heating to the third mark on the visual indicator - is that when the far edge of the visual indicator is aligned with the third mark? o?r is it when the middle of the visual indicator is aligned with the third mark?
I'm pretty sure it's the vertical notch in the middle of the indicator that needs to align, but the truth of it is that it doesn't matter.
If the three marks were meant to be specific temperatures (e.g. 290, 300, 310, or whatever) then it would matter a great deal, but as they are not calibrated you just learn where the pointer is for a successful hit, as long as you use the same alignment each time you'll get reproduceable effects which is what the Vi's for.

BTW, I noticed, that clicks a very accurate, but for re-heat they useless (late cooling click is the problem).
The disks are calibrated to allow for the matrix coming up to temperature from cold, and that heat having to conduct through a cold indicator housing, before finally heating up the disks themselves. When the cap is still appreciably hot following a previous hit, it takes much less time for the heat to get to the disks, or more accurately, it takes less heat because the disks and housing are already nearer the click temperature.
