I know you'll release a competing product soon but you're the first person I know who owns the portable VHB IH.
I'm getting full extraction at around 35-37s with the Tempest and wand.
Doesn't feel slow at all. Remember you are not waiting for a Dynavap heat cycle, which is 30% extraction of 0.1g. With Tempest you are waiting 35s for complete extraction of 0.15g.
My current issue with the wand is more the size and weight. I would love a more portable IH in the future. Maybe one that uses one battery instead of two.
The wand is hands free with a "timer", cheaper and easier to replace the battery. For the Tempest I wouldn't recommend the VHB.
The VHB will be quicker with a DV.

It honestly is. I just got my wand so don't know how to set timers yet. I'm just timing it with my wrist watch. 35s is nothing. It just flies by. That's literally a Ballvape (desktops) bowl preheat time. 35s for this level of extraction is cutting edge. I get the criticism if waiting for a Dynavap bowl, as that would be annoying to do it back to back to back to get where you want to be. But Tempest heat cycle is a beast.Seems great! The test unit I'm using is not calibrated. I don't think the visual indicator is working at all actually. Maybe deactivated or not completely installed. Same with click disk. I'm not hearing it. So it's either not installed or it's not yet calibrated to click at the temp range. So I have not tried with torch yet. I may give it a go today to add that in to my run down.
With regards to ruining aesthetics with a torch. I understand the thinking. However my use of the device has confirmed something for me. As pretty as the device is, it's a workhorse. This will be the device you use indoors and out to get thr job done every day. Reliable, sturdy, easy to clean. So for me I will be using IH and torch for maximum versatility.
Even without the temp indicators it's easily one of the best vapes I've ever used.

With the zirc set it to 320C and let it run until the time out message or set it to 400C and take it out when it stops blinking, that is around 35s
It should be working if I remember correctly
I'll give it a spin on my lunch break and pay close attention to the visual indicator. Then I'll let you know.

The wand have a special timer..it changes depending on the device you use...
You can do this (if you want to, of course
):Set the temp at 120C (i use degrees celsius) which is the minimum. Count the amount of blinks until it stops blinking (i don´t use to count the final blink, when the light keeps on). Then let the device cool down completely. Set the Wand at 170C (=10 steps from 120 since it adds 5 degrees each step) and count the blinks. Divide the blink difference between 120C and 170C by 10 to know the number of blink you get by step (it can be under 1).
Every blink is (more or less) a second (correct me if i am wrong). So with this you can calculate the timer of the wand for a device.
I thought the wand stops to heat when the blink stops. Does it keep heating when the light keeps on until the time out message? (I never saw that message, maybe the EU version doesn´t have it)

It's still uncalibrated though, check how far it goes with the wand.
Yes, it heats for a very short moment every second or so, like it would try to keep it at temp.
For those of us in the UK, are their any mains powered IH recommended, e.g. Vapoven? https://vapoven.com/product/vapoven-wall-powered/
This wasn't a good example, as I'd want something with a timer.

If you can wait, Mad Heaters will be releasing an induction heater next year that should have all the bells and whistles.
You could get something like a wand to hold you over til then though.
I would rather get a desktop than the wand, as I don't tend to vape outside anyway. But yea, if nothing comes up I may have to get a wand, I guess there will be some sales black friday.
@Brenyo just to clarify, do you think the tempest work in the YLL 2.0 with a different cap? Do we know which point is failing, that could possibly be worked around, until your IH is released for example.
There is no automatic desktop IH afaik. If you specifically buy it for the Tempest then I highly recommend the wand instead of anything else, even for home use only.
No it won’t because of how it calculates the power output. There will be a new version of it if all goes well, hopefully around the release.

Holy shit, my hype levels are through the roof. One question I had was how this device fares as a sipper, specifically how long it'd take for the balls to run out of heat. I'm thinking this'll be the perfect device to replicate a joint like session where you and one or more other people pass it around. Or does it rip too hard to pass around much?
Another thing you could look into is making your own IH. It'd still cost around $40-$50 and I've heard the wand's performance is better, but it could be a cheaper hold over alternative until the Sense comes out. Personally, I'm waiting for the wand black Friday deals and if it's still not enough to sway me, I'll be doing a DIY heater.
@Brenyo have you tested the heating times with a DIY induction heater? How does it compare to the wand? I know every DIY will obviously be different.
Pretty much. It could be quicker depending on the power output, but I wouldn't trade the hands-free aspect for it.

Does that include the new YLL v2, after it should work with new FW? Was considering that one, but kinda need it to work nicely with the tempest.
Hype is justified. I was hyped beyond belief based on what I thought the device would be like. But it's surpassed my expectations in some critical categories. So hype away, you won't be disappointed. I'll be posting a detailed write up this evening. I'm just finishing it up.
Edit - Yes you can use it as a sipper. You will have more than enough time to finish your bowl. I prefer big direct to lung hits. It does both easily.
@Brenyo The visual indicator is working. Not tuned as you said. The indicator is showing around the middle mark, when it should be closer to the third based on roast level. But I'll be able to use it with the torch now.

For what i hear from a friend who has an anvil and a stunner (i know it is not the same), the vapor profile, flavor, punch...they are very complementary devices, a combo wombo. The anvil would be more punchy and it is perfect for one hit extraction, meanwhile the stunner gets you super high as well but it brings more hits with a tons of flavor (with just one heat as well))@RedZep Is it a Anvil killer that's the question?

Not killer. The Anvil will remain a great vape. I think Tempest is superior in several key ways for me imo. I won't go into detail. A comparison thread can be made for those interested and I'll try to give fair feedback in it.@RedZep Is it a Anvil killer that's the question?
