Sorry it took me so long to reply, I was sick. I am not saying that the sr-74x does not work, because that would be horseshit from a lying liar. It totally works, and it is the easiest version to set up so far. I am saying that for me the old 74 works better because the rod extends farther above the coil and seems to heat better. They both work. Also at 7.4 volts it's a non issue. I only notice any difference at 3.7 volts, which is my preferred setup.

Lately using wax has been bugging my throat so I was going to go for one of the nibblers. I can't decide between the okeanos, nibbler-g, and nibbler-gn. The okeanos looks amazing and I want to own it but the water chamber looks a little small so I'm not sure about jumping in before I see reviews. Though I feel like I could get away with it a lot easier in public than with the nibblers. I'm ok with just using them in my car if I'm worried about it so the nibblers aren't out. Plus I love the globe's heater core thing so far. They seem to handle any kind of wax really well, barely anything in the bowl to scrape out.

So which ones do you guys love? I'm kind of leaning okeanos.

I believe it's the same as most other W9 stuff - 601 threading.

Going a bit out of my depth here now:
The old omicron v1's also had 601 threading, but also a bit of extra threading a bit lower for the heat sheild to screw into, which I believe is called something like 601-mod
(Not an ecig user so not 100% on the terminology).
I believe this is similar to what the OPHOS uses now, but the minicron, and omicron lite both have 601 threading, and I believe the minicron lite, omicron 2.xx and persei all use that too.

Basically, my understanding is that any of the carts should screw into any of the battery setups without any hassles (except for the OPHOS kiss cart - no idea if that'll screw into other bases).

Only issues I can think of are voltage compatibility (I had a mate burn out a couple of carts and a persei top trying to use 3.7v carts in a 7.4v setup persei) an whether the batts can power the cart (with the herc)

The 8 is a full mechanical unit that has a replaceable circuit board, basically making it no down time at all. Just have the spare parts and bam your never going down.

Hey bro, I read in some descriptions that they include a removable fuse. A bunch of my mechanical mods came with a fuse of some sort that you can use if fully mechanical operation is less important to you than safety (I have never, ever used one, but I might if I was going to stack batteries in a mechanical I.e. 8 at 7.4 volts). I also see these segelei 2cents fuses on some of the PV sites.

Just a quick heads up, just because it's titanium doesn't mean it's grade 2.

Hi all,

I'm only 40 or so pages into this thread and, as someone mentioned, I'm worried that my lack of an engineering degree is hurting me here. My hope was that something like the Persei would fill the void created when TET folded before I picked up a Cera.

The primary use would be wax but I'm intrigued to see what it does with LL also.

However, looking at all the vape options, plus all the accessory options, plus the conversations about ohms of carts and voltages has me a bit overwhelmed. Far more to think about than which cartridge to buy for the Cera.

Am I correct in thinking this would be a suitable alternative to the Cera? Is there a basic kit (or lightly accessorized kit) that will meet that need? Persei/Omicron/Hercules/Triton/SR-71/SR-74... Holy shit...how about a flow chart?!

As always, thanks for any suggestions. I look forward to the day when I can contribute.

SR-71 and SR-74 are simply 'versions' of the Hercules; the one you want is the latest version sold on w9tech.com. I think you're making this much more complicated than it really is! Can't you add a 2nd address or something?
I ordered a TI kiss cart and a kiss globe a few weeks ago, but I had it shipped to a glassblowerin the US because I am going to get a custom worked globe.

Now I can pick from 2 shipping addresses when I order, and I can only assume my billing address stayed the same because my purchase went through fine?

I just snagged a brand new red persei v1 without warranty from w9 on eBay. Could have sent mine in and had a warranty for the same price, but the red looks sleek.

Any downsides to the v1 compared to the new ti?

Just gotta source a sr74 for a good price and the batteries and a suggested charger and I can FINALLY give the persei a proper trial.

Update on my hercules sr74x experience. Once the black insulator was changed out it has been heavenly. Huge tasty clouds on demand. I am able to load once daily and get plenty for 6-10 sessions a day. The core is so nice with the herc. It really allows you to get optimum performance from the herc. I'm still clogging my mouthpiece so often that I have to ISO bath the screen daily. Small price to pay for this unparalleled performance. Anyone on the fence about the herc should just make the jump it's so convenient and powerful.

Thanks. If I like the persei as much as I'm expecting to once I get it figured out, I'll send my blown out one in to be replaced with a new one for $65. Then I'll have an old red one and a new black one. Not bad.

Gotta get all the parts in first though. I'll watch some youtube videos of how to assemble and use the herc, long before I get it if I can find them. That way I'll know what I'm doing at least.

Bean glad to see you're fully onboard. My suggestion is to slow down your draws if you're constantly clogging the screen. If that fails take the screen out!
