Hercules SR 71 users please look at this guide and tell me if its complete or not.

https://www.w9tech.com/content/instructionmanual/Herc_Guide_v3.pdf

Really nice job. Covers the assembly really well.

Here's a few things that came to mind:

  • pg 2. - pre-loaded tanks and coils. What are the tanks? Is that a separate accessory for loading herbs, or is it the tank the coils go in? What is it? There was some mention of loading a tank that sounded like it was a different thing. If it's new I want one!

Would like to see more on usage beyond what's on page 14... more on loading (people often seem to think the funnel is involved from standard cart use) and proper draw technique, avoiding leaks, storing on side, cleaning the rod... practical use tips. Also the heading on page 14 is "assembly instructions", but the page content is more about usage?

White rod vs. black rod use and battery configs.

Differences between sr-71 and 74. I know this is for the 71, but people should know about using 74 rods and which parts are interchangeable or not.

What tops work with SR-71 and what does not. HVD heads, etc.

What extracts work and don't work well with the 71... runny liquids, water/ice extracts, etc. Not sure how generic the language has to be to mention concentrates.

Page 15 (Troubleshooting). At the first step I might have mentioned the AW IMRs (what there's no plug for the Core?). I know it mentions AW's elsewhere, but I originally had trouble with the Herc that came down to not using AW batteries. The other step I run into is wispy vapor caused by needing to reload.

A section on how to reclaim would be good.

Using loose leaf and oils together?
Really through manual! Should help people master their Hercs.

Edit: unrelated feedback. I've always wanted to see a PDF that's a brochure of the line of w9 tech. A page on each major vape or accessory, so a person can see the range of possibilities in one viewing.

People using that nitecore charger ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005UAI372/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) are you using it with your AW 18350's? If not, are you using any aftermarket charger for them? The manual does not list 18350's as supported batteries and the charger also does not full charge them for me

Or, if it IS charging for me, it says they are fully charged long before they actually are... which sort of defeats the point of getting this charger.

That's a great charger, works well with the 350's and the 650's. When you say aftermarket charger I think you might have meant aftermarket batteries? If so, I only run the AW IMRs, but plenty of people here have tried eFest and other brands of batteries.

How do you reclaim oil from a coil, when you want to change bho strain and clean the SR74 (or 71) ?
Do you let old oil on the coil and only add new different oil ?
Personally I let old oil and add new, and sometimes I take off the coil(s) to clean the Hercules (but not the coil !). I never clean the coils, and you, how do you do, guys ?

Soak in iso/everclear, place thc enriched iso in pyrex dish, evap iso, reclaim wax. Start over.

Personally I just throw new oil on top.

The tanks are before the SR-71. They're from the og Herc. Coils work much much better.

Damn VAS is kicking in hard right now, I ended up getting a Omi v2 just to have it again. I like the size of it for 3.7v Kiss carts, hope it works. :p After fumbling around with that atmos battery (button sux, bright light on end cap) when I was out the other night, I realized pretty quickly that I needed a better pocket sized battery that is still discrete. I was quite impressed at how well the Kiss handled, taste and performance. I was in a space that I didn't feel comfortable warming up an herb vape and drawing the extra attention with odor etc... quick oil pen hits kept me plenty medicated. Next I have my eye on the HVD omi, some SS tubes and end caps, and maybe a core. I'd like to get another bender and give it another go some time, I don't think I was in the right space to appreciate it properly the first go around, if I find the fundage to float it.

This IS my happy face..
Well I just broke my first Ti KISS cart and W9 is out of stock...Can't afford a Herc yet...Found a 7.5v 2.0 ohm cart at Vapor Warehouse...Should be back up and running in a few days...Oh well.

joekar,

Solod out.
The main thing to fix the clogging is to master your load and draw. EVERYONE clogs it like crazy at first.

DON'T PANIC.

Please go watch my videos (if you haven't already) and then practice loading tiny (!) amounts. Three drops of shatter on my coil leaves nothing visible, but can rock like 4 hits. That's how I started, and worked my way up to master draw. Now I can load a lot. However oil consistency plays a MAJOR role in how much to load as well.

As for the Triton, it is in the works but you would have to ask G for info about it. As of right now I know as much as you. I do know there are some planned updates coming for the Okeanos, but you would have to ask G about that as well. I can only speak for the stuff that is in my hands, or on my desk. The Triton has not made it that far.....yet!

=)

EDIT....So we just got a 2013 Yukon SLR Black w/Grey Leather. Nothing to do with vaping, but paying that shit off clean was fucking cool as fuck!
I was thinking though. Theres a very easy fix. Just put a metal o-ring before you screw in the bubbler. 1 mm is all it would take. It could also line up the "Okeanos" label with the button.
The fact that they haven't come up with a quick fix, makes me think (or hope) that the triton (which from what I understood was specifically designed for the okeanos) is coming soon.

@itschad I charge everything in my nitecore i4. Efest, aw, etc.

hmm

alls I know is in the 5 AW 18350's i've tried charging on it, all of them have said they were done, and then needed multiple additional hours on the charger that came with my persei =S

@itschad It is probably the persei charger being inaccurate. They are not known for being super reliable. They do the job, but are far from a nitecore (IMO). Then again, maybe yours is faulty. Use a multimeter and find out by testing the batteries charged by each charger.

Heh

Seriously though, I agree 100%. Not having one is just a bummer.

Bender Findings:
  • Start with loading .3 - mid grind (you can experiment with smaller loads later)
  • HEAT UP: Hold power button for 10 second increments, while drawing very slowly until you see vapor moving up the mouthpiece (you'll have to look down the neck to see this)
  • When you see vapor, let go of the button and stop drawing
  • Wait for say 5 seconds for the temperature to settle then start to draw again
  • Hold power for 5 seconds, release for 5 and repeat this method all while constantly drawing watching the vapor production through the mouthpiece/neck
  • **Take LONG slow inhales**
  • Stir every other hit
  • When BENT, keep drawing until you cant anymore to cool down the device and to save the erb for later if you dont want it to bake (I can get 3 sessions off of .3-.4 with vigorous cool down)
  • Slide the glass Bender device off the Persei, remove the mouthpiece and let it sit to cool as well. You dont want to knock them over attached..
nice, thank you :)

I think I'll order the Persei + Bender :)

One more question: is the Hercules a good solution for portable herb vaporization "on the go"? I'm thinking about using the Bender in my house or in quiet outdoor situations and maybe some secondary and more stealth vaper like the Hercules for concerts or just straight street vaping :)

That is a good choice. You will be happy. I have both the Bender and The Hercules SR-71. I have to admit that I have not tried flowers in the Herc, but the consensus on that is mixed. Some are having decent results with flowers in the Herc. The favored methods involve using no oil coil and just placing flowers in the chamber. The other method involves using oil on the coil and then a screen on top. Then flower on top of the screen for a combined experience. Again I have not tried this method yet. IMHO. Most seem to think that flowers in The Herc is more of an afterthought than a main function.
