my sr74 doesnt have the power my 7.4 kiss cart did. I barely hit the button and it would blaze. I hold down the button for 15 seconds on the SR74 and it still doesnt get good vapor going. It just seems to warm up the entire case until all the wax turns to liquid and drains down the holes to the bottom chamber eventually.
Discontinued The Persei Vaporizer for herbs and concentrates.

with my sr74 from a cold start i have noticed to get massive clouds i need to prime/ heat my unit up for about 30 seconds or so. during that warmup you really shouldnt be pulling on it- all this does is cool down the heater and chamber. i also hold the unit horizontal as i am priming to alleviate the oil leaking down to the lower chamber. if you get this baby heated up to the proper temp it will produce large volumes of vapor!! again, if you are pulling on the unit during heat up, all you will get are wispy hits. let it heat up!!!!!!!
in addition, once you get it going and its heated up, be careful about holding it upright without pulling on it! it will leak down if the oil is real hot/ viscous to the lower chamber. hence it is important to cool it down properly and lay it on its side!

With my SR74, when it's totally cold, I only push the button about 5/6 seconds (fresh batteries and only one coil) to get big clouds (I can see throught the Nibbler XL 
). Are you sure to prime well your SR74 ?And a tip : my brother cleaned the central golden pin locate in the down chamber, in alcohol and very hot water because oil have entered inside and the spring not made well his function (make electrical contact).
Very important to have a complete electrical contact with the rod

vap- i will def look into the pin in the lower chamber. i do recall after i had leaking into the lower chamber that the spring loaded pin/ post that accepts the rod was not moving smoothly. i did drop it in iso but that may not have done the trick. i will try and clean it better tonight and see if this makes a difference.
@primeform few possibilities on your issue, what batteries are you using? Do you have the top Stainless cap correctly screwed on? and the other issue could be how many coils are you using and how much are you loading?
Ive tried with dual 18350s and even dual 18650s with the SS kit. Its not the power supply.
Im using 1 coil. One problem ive found is the rod sliding. Sometimes it gets pushed up to far to make contact with the gold connector. Also when it leaks to the bottom chamber it gets all over the rod and the connector which ive cleaned multiple times.
Ive tried a few different amounts. melting some on the coil with my Hako then adding some to the chamber after. It really seems this coil doesnt put out the power. I hold the button down for 15 seconds to prime and its still barely putting out vapor.
I was able to get 1 - 2 decent hits by holding button down for 30 secs - 1 min, but nothing like the 7.4 kiss cart. I litterally hold the button down for 1-2 seconds with that and its throwing a huge cloud.
Do this
Clean it all out.
Now look at the rod placement on the left, thats the SR71 placement. Look at the rod placement on the right thats the SR74 placement.
Ok so step one after you clean it. Insert the rod like the image on the left and tighten down the herc. Then gently screw both sections together and once you get resistance stop. Look at the gap that is left in the middle. Unscrew it and insert the rod a bit more tighten it down and connect both sections again and look at the gap left. Repeat this until there is no gap left at all. Then you should have a perfect rod placement.
Note move it little by little by about 1mm and once you get it you should not have anymore problems. Make sure that you tighten the rod down.

Also, try and clean it out and put it back together with no coil or oil in there. Just to see how long it takes the rod to glow. On my sr74 rod in the sr71, it takes about 5-8 seconds before i see a glow. If your using a white rod 30+ seconds is way to long. I dont even need anywhere near that for the black rod...
Are you using AW batteries or just the stock ones that came with the persei (you need ones with the AW sticker) also how much are you loading. You need at least 0.4 in there with one coil to get good results. I usually load it in two steps (.2 buffer, .2-.3 to vape) you need that buffer to be there always otherwise you wont get good results. So even though it may look like oils in there u may still need to add more for it to work properly
Ok I tried this. I hold the button down for 15 seconds and it doesnt glow and the persei auto turns off while im holding button down. I then immedietly push it again and it takes about 20-30 seconds for it to become glowing red.
Ive tried with 2 AW 18350s and 2 AW 18650s.
I also bought a black rod, i think ill put that one in next and try it out.

You prolly know this already, but the Black rod is for 3.7 volts. Make sure to only use 1 battery.
Sure. Ive been trying to follow the directions you gave but it always gets "pushed" back in. It seems the retention screw doesnt hold it at whatever length i put it. But I basically have it at the shortest position where it makes good contact atm. I can get some hits after I warm it up for 30-45 seconds.
I will be available on skype for another 30 minutes if you would like to. My name is thcscientific and it would be faster then doing this on the forum.
@Sleepin in CA small discrepancy on the video the - button tells you the true battery voltage as apposed to what's selected and pressing the power button for less then a second won't activAte the cartridge. It does not revert back to 3.5v at all as it remembers the last voltage set when being turned on after shutdown.

If you cant get the white rod to work properly, chances are youll have a harder time getting anything out of the black rod. My 74 rod takes about 5 seconds max of preheating before i get huge puffs. Id say maybe double that with the black rod...
Im not familiar with 74 set up so cant really help there but it sounds like its that if its taking that long to glow and nothing else is in there

I own an Extreme Q and I think it's great, but I don't use bags since they're good just for the first couple of uses, but then they start to collect dust inside and as I am allergic to acari, I cannot stand it. The whip has a terrible terrible terrible taste, at least at the temperatures I like to vape, which is the maximum the unit can provide (260ºC). I think it is the right temperature for CBD vaporization because I like to feel the sedation in my body since me and my gf use cannabis as an aphrodisiac and the feeling it provides is really nice
Ayway, I recently started using some glass in the Extreme Q to solve the taste issue but I feel this vaporizer is a little too big for casual use, so I started searching for a portable vape that can deliver high non combustion temperatures, good taste and full glass. At first I looked at the Ascent, but after reading all the comments about plastic fumes and air leakage in some units I decided to look elsewhere... so I found the Persei.
I've read this thread almost entirely (almost jajaja) and I think I'm heading in the right direction about this vape. I want to know what accessories and stuff do I need to purchase to get some vaporization like the one in this video:
If I'm correct about this, the air path in this video is full glass: there's a heater inside the glass (the Bender) and the air comes from some tiny holes in the glass and NOT from the heater itself, am I right? So, I want to get something like this but I don't know what accessories and batteries do I need to get. I want to reach temperatures of about 240-260 ºC (what kind of battery do I need for this?), to be full glass air path and, hopefully, get some nice water filtration, not a bong, but just some water chamber or something. Also, I want to know about the taste of this unit, since it is glass I think it has great taste. I vape flowers, not concentrates.
